1. Peres should have succeeded Arafat ...
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.04.07)
He would have made a much better president than Abbas.
2. Looks good - lets see Bush and Cofee Anan in one
Josh   (11.04.07)
3. "Peace Now" Racists
Yosef ,   Israel   (11.04.07)
Extreme-left wing activists of "Peace Now" are calling the posters incitement. Why is it wrong to call Peres "president of Arabs". Does "Peace Now" think that Peres should not be a president of 20% of Israel's population? Back in 1996 Netanyahu said Peres wanted to divide Jerusalem. Then the extreme-left activists called it incitement. Yet now we see that a central pillar of Peres' philosopy is dividing Jerusalem. It seems that "Peace Now" loves dancing on Rabin's corpse by calling anything incitement in order to limit other's freedom of speech. Disgusting
4. The idea is a little bit silly - What you should be doing
Michelle ,   Vancouver   (11.04.07)
instead is educating the public about the implications of Bush's plan. Maybe not all Israelis are fully aware of the history of Fatah - their "peace partner", or what a terror state next door will mean in their everyday lives, or the fact that Hamas and Fatah do not intend to live in peace with Israel. I say this because it seems to me that anyone with good knowledge of the true facts behind this Roadmap would be in active opposition to the dismantling of Israel, demonstrating and demanding immediate new elections. Those posters may attract attention and amusement for a moment or two, but they will achieve nothing at all. Educate the people - organize them. If you really want to print posters, put real information on them. Tell the true facts about Peres, about Abbas, about Fatah. The truth about them has more shock value than seeing Peres wearing a kaffiyah. Have a strategy. Calling for Amir's release at this particular moment is distracting and pointless. There are bigger issues at stake. This is a moment of crisis for the Jewish nation. Concentrate on keeping your country whole. Concentrate on demanding new elections, or at least a referendum before any possible agreement with the enemy. And most importantly, show that there are alternatives to surrender. Get creative. Or support Benny Elon's plan The Right Road to Peace.
5. it's an insult to Arabs
Claude   (11.04.07)
there is nothing wrong with being an Arab or wearing a towel on your head. Why not show Peres in a straitjacket, that would be much more accurate.
6. EXTREEM LEFTWING
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (11.04.07)
activists of Ynet are inciting again and again. Under the cover of being a news media organization, they keep on fueling hatred towards the religious Jews of this land. In their unabated propaganda towards global paganism, they employ militant tactics to constantly influence public opinion. Their reporting reeks of sponsorship of a dictatorship ,with all its censorship in place. As a news organization they refuse to live up to their responsibilities and are the creators of extremism.
7. Oh, I thought it was Arafat reincarnated.
A.B.   (11.04.07)
Is it the fact that they think alike that causes such resemblance?
8. Appeasement Does Not Work With the Arabs
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (11.04.07)
It never has. It never will.
9. peres
sas ,   israel   (11.04.07)
he belongs in an old age home and he should learn to keep his mouth closed and he should be kept out of public. his days of "glory" are over. he is old n deteriorated.
10. #6: How is ynet inciting against religious Jews?
abdullah ,   ashkenaz   (11.04.07)
The attitudes that led to preparing the poster against Peres are not jewish, let alone religious. So long as torah true jews are successful in educating jews and non-jews alike, as to what judaism is about, then very few people will connect such actions to judaism.
11. Josh #2: I'm with you on Bush!
Steve ,   US   (11.04.07)
I've got a copy of investigative journalist Craig Unger's "House of Bush House of Saud." http://www.amazon.com/House-Bush-Saud-Relationship-Dynasties/dp/074325337X It's a wonderful resource. I highly recommend the book. Unger is a left-leaning journalist. It's tragic that no one on the right is willing to expose Bush and his families's corrupt financial dealings with our enemies; expose how George W. Bush has jeopardized U.S. security because of his intimate ties to the Saudis. Chapter 12 is appropriately titled: "The Arabian Candidate."
12. Extremely True and Extremely Good
Marcel ,   Florida   (11.04.07)
We have the extremist left of israel abusing their corrupt ruling power over israel to dismantle homes and land to give to the Islamic terrorists . Peres and Olmert have given a free pass for Sheikh Saleh of the Islamic movement to incite WITHOUT FEAR OF BEING ARRESTED ,and yet YNET and the corrupt leaders of israel without fail target faithful Jews of Israel to war against with their extremist charges. They're not extremist's,they're normal ,it's the fools who reward those intent on destroying Israel who are the extremists and must be removed from power ,arrested and tried for their incitement and treasonous crimes. it's past time to stop this.
13. Not even the Arabs would accept Peres as president (End)
So there!   (11.04.07)
14. The insane left and the insane right
Sam ,   Canada   (11.04.07)
The insane Jewish left marches with the Palestinians against Israel. The insane Jewish right defames the Jews who helped create Israel and sustain it. Whatever happened to Jewish brains and sense?
15. Didn't we learn anything from the Rabin assassination?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (11.04.07)
Violence will only bring on more violence. Yes, I agree that the statements of the extreme left wing and even some more moderate lefties with their heads in the sand attitude towards the enemies of our country, both within and without, are despicable and must be condemned. MK's who stood with radical Arab instigators during the war last year should be very severely censured. Israel is a democracy and we change the system by the ballot box or would you prefer another assassination on your heads? Is the way of the Jewish National Front the right way? If you chose yes, then you are aiding and abetting the same forces of hatred and radicalism that have plagued the Jewish People for centuries. The only difference is that this time we will have Jew persecuting Jew! Israel will no longer be the place for the secular. Will the Jewish National Front embark on the deportation of those who do not agree with their lifestyle? Great scenario and proves King Abdullah I of Jordon right. "Leave the Jews alone and they will kill one another!"
16. I agree with Josh and Steve
Hilda ,   US   (11.04.07)
17. David 15: I'm not sure satire is violent. Is it?
Steve ,   US   (11.04.07)
I suppose mocking satire can be violent especially if it is entirely false and unjustified satire. But look at the extreme violence of our leaders. These are dangerous people. Why not point to this danger by means of satire?
18. #15 david you contradict yourself..
Elchonon ,   Chevron   (11.04.07)
In the same sentance you lay out 2 opposing points, so if Israel is a democracy, marzel and the jewish national front have free speech no? The whole "it will incide violence" line is a excuse on the left to shut up democratic dissent.. its the left commiting political asasination.
19. Violation of Law & Time to prosecute
Jack ,   USA   (11.04.07)
Have you all forgotten that prior to Oslo Peres and Rabin met with Arafat and this was aginst the law to do so. They willfully made agreements if they would be supported in elections they would push for Oslow and this lead to pressure on Shamir and Netanyahu tp go to and make the deals, afterward Peres and Rabin overtly sold Israel out for Cintons Support, and then came Barak and Camp David, you know the rest. This is a socialist, who has always been a socialist, he has sold his soul for the Nobel peace prize he shares with the likes of Arafat. Why do we forget the details of history a few years later?
20. peres in kaffiyah
Tamar Edelstein ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.04.07)
absolutely childish - grow up (I am also on the right, but let's use a little intelligence here))
21. #15 David ,Karmiel
Florida ,   Florida   (11.04.07)
If you are so concerned about the violence, where were you when the extremist left and their champion Olmert sent his black shirts out on horseback to spill the blood of unarmed Jews WITH GREAT BRUTALITY in Amona ? Another brianwashed Israeli or another hypocrite ?
22. gearing up towards another assasination??
Rabin ,   Nazarfeth, Israel   (11.04.07)
same aproach the neofascist right used leading up to the assasination of Rabin....
23. #20 - EXACTLY!! - - -
Andy ,   Ramat Hasharon   (11.04.07)
I don't love Peres or releasing murderers. But all extremes (left, right, secular, religious) are LUDICROUS and DANGEROUS. I could not agree with you more, Ms. Edelstein. Let's have some intelligent debate in this country and leave Yariv Oppenheimer and Baruch Marzel in the dust bin of history where they belong. They offer no solutions -- only more divisiveness and trouble.
24. Very nice looking Peres
Inga ,   New York   (11.04.07)
25. Hey, Maybe It's NOT A Bad Idea!
David ,   Marietta, USA   (11.04.07)
Peres declares himself President of United Palestine, declares the existence of a Muslim state comprised of Golan, West Bank/former-Israel/Gaza, and everyone goes home. He can even declares himself a believer of the Prophet, and the ball game is over! Of course, as a politician, we all know he in particular and they in general will lie or say anything to stay in office. But this would be a GOOD lie! And the Quizlings of Norway can award him yet another Nobel Peace Prize, up there with those past brilliant world savers like Gore, Arafat, Carter, Anan, ie, the creme of the elite. I say, put on the shmatah for real and let's see what happens.
26. Does YNet call Dana Olmert an extreme leftist?Stop the label
Nannette ,   London   (11.04.07)
Why call patriotic Jews extreme rightists? If it was left to the Israeli media, the country would be an Arab state... just like it's a pro-Arab government, and the media is the mouthpiece of the government. Get real... we'll all be sitting shiva for Israel after Olmert's given most of it away! (And that will be just the starting point of negotiations).
27. Peres will be proud to put it beside his father's
(11.04.07)
Turkish Tarbush
28. Elchonon , poor guy
charles ,   petach tikva   (11.05.07)
You forget that this "free speech" incitement was the beginning of the road who led to Rabin's Z.L. Murder . In every democratic country free speech has limits . Would you also say that Shoah deniers can have free speech ?
29. nannette
charles ,   petach tikva   (11.05.07)
You told me some time ago that you were not so informed on the situation here . You again and again show it .
30. Florida
charles ,   petach tikva   (11.05.07)
They were there against the law , was a closed territory . Don't compare our soldiers and policeman to those nazi murderers .
