2. All those who don't respect Human Rights are in Council !!
KMR ,   Middle East   (11.06.07)
Most of OIC member states don't respect human rights but control the council. That is SAD
3. Gillerman for Israeli PM!!!
D ,   Israel   (11.06.07)
4. An awfully disgreceful Council made up of
(11.06.07)
pathetic human rights trespassers, many of whom originate from countries with shady human rights records. Real wolves "taking care" of the flock of sheep.
5. An advise to Israel
Y ,   N   (11.06.07)
Why not create your own human rights centers who focus just on the human rights situation in the other arab countries? Publish an annual repport on each of the countries and have a price for people in these countries who work for democrazy and human rights. Set up a internet site where you publish your findings and hold press conferences and debates with partisipants from all over the world where you discuss human rights in arab countries. Show them who the real human rights abusers and dictatorships are. No get to work Israel!!
6. Israel's only defense "look, they are more heinous than us!"
Mr. Knowitall ,   Frostbite Falls, MN   (11.06.07)
How pathetic can Israel's argument possibly get when it cannot deny or defend against its many violations, but instead is left resorting to trying to point out someone similarly violating human rights as if it excuses their own violations, which it of course does not. Perhaps Gillerman still believes he can sell the well worn "Israelis are always victims" ploy to the UN, but like a young child trying to use the "Johnny’s mom" excuse, the World will not fall for it. Israel is certainly within its rights to present other nations to the council, but it in no way excuses their own bad behavior and having Gillerman whining like a child in front of the UN will not deter them from their job and only makes Israel appear guiltier each time Gillerman flaps his trap.

wonderful idea and it can easily be implemented. gone are the days when jews and israel turn the other cheek for a slap from countries whose human rights are non existant. the entire counsil is made up of human rights abusers who would very much like to deflect on the un concentrating on their abusive countries by making the counsil continuously concentrate on the "imagined" human rights abuses in israel. palestinian victimhood is self made and nutrured by the abuse of all the arab nations who have interned them in camps and supressed them and made them pverty stricken and abused. it's the arabs who are to blame, not israel. these "refugees" have been astoundly used by all 22 arab nations as pawns in their fight against israel while most other refugees around the world were incorporated by other countries and live happy productive lives. create a strong aipac of human rights, as you claim, and show the world the true face of these counsil members with pictures, videos and anything you can lay your hands on about the human condition in these abhorent countries that sit on the counsil. then go to the un with the evidence and see what they come up with and how they respond. yes, israel must do something to combat this arab propaganda against it otherwise, we are doomed to see such resolutions by the counsil threefold.
8. The One-world-one-people-please-ers are on the march
Nopal Zedillo   (11.06.07)

Bram ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.06.07)
If you read the article you would see that he did not try and distract attention from Israel, he only pointed out the hypocrisy of the council and asked that Israel not be the ONLY country examined.
10. #6 - Mr. Knowitall...
Joe ,   Los Angeles, CA   (11.06.07)
How pathetic can your arguments possibly get when you continue to deny or defend them against their many logical and historical fallacies. Instead you are left resorting to ad hominem attacks, straw man arguments, and tired rhetoric which of course demonstrate your intelligence. Perhaps you still believe you can sell the well worn "Palestinians are always victims" and "Evil Zionist Jooooz are racist, apartheidist, and bent on conquering the world" ploy to the readership of Ynet, but like a young child trying to use the "Johnny’s mom" excuse, we will not fall for it. You are certainly within your rights to present your opinions to other readers, but this in no way excuses your own bad behavior and your whining like a child in front of all of us will not deter us from our opinions and only makes you and the ideals you espouse appear sillier each time you flap your trap.
11. Too wordy
(11.06.07)
You could say it shorter - to save our time: "Jews should know their place" Right?
12. # 6, Mr Know-it-at-all from Frostbitten
(11.06.07)
Mind. You do sound genuinely pathetic because actually you are trying hard to sell your constant demonizing policy against Israel. It seems now, you have become a regular for Israel bashing. But your problem is people see through your ugly translucid layer, a no less uglier Jew hater. How can you even equate human rights abuses in Israel to the mega tons of abuses only in the surrounding Arab countries ? At least, the few such cases in Israel are always treated in the press and Israeli democratic courts. What about beheadings in Saudi Arabia, summary executions in Syria and Hamastan, collective hangings in your "darling" Iran, not to mention more distant realms in Asia and South America where such democratic courts are totally inexistent ? How do you even start to account for them ? You do seem to live in your ugly dreamland which in fact does not belong to anyone else except for the a.m. places and, of course, "the brave and valient H.R.Council". So much for YOUR whining and pining. L.o.l.
13. #6 - if you can't understand the article then why post ?
redmiike ,   tel aviv and london   (11.06.07)
you continually write negative posts that indicate that you have no understanding of what you have read. if you want to keep looking foolish then keep posting - no problem. maybe adopt the name 'blinded by bias' then people will no what to expect when they read your posts. I just feel sorry for you as you're obviously a very sad person. I won't of course bother to open any more of your posts. I hope your life gets better and that you will feel better one day - Mike

I guess you stopped reading right before you got to this section...."My delegation does not ask for special treatment. Israel, like any other country in this hall, should be subject to review and constructive criticism on a fair and impartial basis," Gillerman said.
15. The alarm rang to stop Gillerman!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (11.06.07)
It was set off on purpose to stop Gillerman from speaking!!
16. post 6.
yigal ,   north   (11.06.07)
In your zeal to criticise Israel, you did not pay attention to what the ambassador said. He said Israel "does NOT ask for special treatment.Israel, like any other country In this hall, should be subject to review and constructive criticism on a fair and Impartial basis". But don't let the facts get In your way. You are on a mission, to bash Israel. In Israel, Gillerman Is thought of as a good diplomat . He does not use narcisist tactics, as Bibi, but Is a hard working , down to earth go getter. Though he Is a political appoitment of not my party of choice, I forsee a bright future for this gentleman In Israeli politics.
17. #6 and as if by magic a dumbass speaks
Danny   (11.06.07)
I am impressed you are bombarded with explaination after explaination of Israeli actions on a daily basis. You have your lies pointed out on a daily basis and to date your only defence has been "Jews are the cause of all the problems and I just don't feel comfortable blaming arabs." You honestly believe that the killing of hundreds of thousands of Darfurians is even remotely equivalent to Israel's fighting of Palestinians? Especially this year were more Palestinians were killed by other Palestinians than the IDF. As Gillerman said, I don't think anyone in Israel has a problem with accurate and correct criticism, the issue is with lies coming from people like you.
18. Jew: Stop caring so much about what they think of you!
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (11.06.07)
Why is it that we care one way or another how the UN views our morality? The Europeans, with their pogroms, inquisitions and holocausts, certainly should be the last in line to teach us morality. The Africans, who slaughter each other and then eat the remains have a long way to go before they teach us morality. The Latinos, whose Mayan and Aztech forefathers sacrificed babies, have a lot to learn from the Torah of the Jews about the immorality of their ways. When our fathers were writing the Torah, its complex systems of human rights laws and profound teachings, their fathers were still in trees. Please, Jew, I beg, stop caring about what these people have to say with regard to morality.
19. Good speach, first step is to make a crystal clear stance
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (11.06.07)
This was good, and very needed.
20. Yes but others are not helping perpetuate..
Josh   (11.06.07)
..the war on terrorism that makes billions of dollars in tax money go to the industrial weapons makers. Besides Israel has a date with her prophecy.
21. And yes speech spells: speech
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (11.06.07)
22. Can't agree more with #18, Besalel
Marc ,   Nice, France   (11.07.07)
Kudos to Mr.Gillerman's speech, but useless. For UN-like politicians, "jew" means "guilty", whatever you can do or say. The only response is due violence, dispensed wth purity of arms, when ultimately necessary. No complain, no speech, no explanation. Only something everyone, even underdeveloped, can understand very well : Military might, driven by political wisdom, and jewish moral values. Better being respected, and alive, than understood, and dead.
23. # 18, Betzalel,
(11.07.07)
one thing is to be impassive and another to say loud and clear what we think and believe in. Since we live in a world where all those mentioned by you are exerting a strong influence, a very negative one, mostly, we have to express ourselves loud and clear on all circumstances. Even if they interrupt us with alarms at times ! This way, we WILL have a better chance to survive and flourish through the centuries, unlike the previous tragical times in history.
24. If I were a Jew....
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (11.07.07)
....I'd find it totally amazing to see and hear so much of the world go into spasms of who knows what at the mere mention of "Jew/Israel." I would revel in my power to make so many people seemingly go stark-raving nuts simply at my being. If it weren't for Jews, some people wouldn't have anything over which to go into convulsions, other than the probable shock of catching a glimpse of themselves in the mirror, unobscured by all that "Jew." I, myself, don't understand any of it and never will, but since I have this tiny mean streak, I'd keep the weaponry in good working condition - just in case one or the other were to completely lose it again - slap on my kippah, stick a little Israeli flag into it and dare anybody to take my kippah or my flag. And just because I could, I'd sit back and enjoy the hell out of watching all the idiots going bonkers at the mere sight of "Jew." I might not win a popularity contest, but I'd be damned before I'd make excuses for my shortcomings, when other folks should clean up their own, much bigger messes which, in contrast to mine, have not one frigging, redeeming aspect on the plus side.
25. # 22, Marc
(11.07.07)
Exactly as I told it to Betzalel, Mr Gilerman's speech is very important because it makes all those mentioned by you two, very uncomfortable. One of the best policies with these Jew haters is to make them uncomfortable, to anger them, to shame them, to denounce them, to expose them, to ridicule them, to laugh at them and to make them realize they are only ugly worms in this world, nothing more. And Israel today has the means and tools and the know-how to do it. Why the hell shouldn't we when we see every day how many Jew haters squirm around ? Of course, you are right, we do have other means of engagement, too, if necessary.
26. It's time for Israel to be treated fairly
Sam ,   La Jolla USA   (11.08.07)
I agree with Gillerman because Israel has been treated unfairly by a biased "commission", if you could call it that. Other countries that treat their people like commodities do not get investigated with the same intensity that Israel does. There is a clear difference between investigating Israel and singling them out, and I believe the latter has occurred not just know, but throughout history. Just because Israel does not sponsor terrorism and propaganda, has an actual culture, and has a free democracy does not mean that it should be singled out from other countries who oppress their people and are desperate to control ideas and keep themselves in power. I am tired of the denial and silence and constantly seeing this pattern repeat itself; it's time for the double standard to end for Israel to simply be treated fairly.
27. They are indeed, #8

A more spookier blend of fantasy & idealism I have yet to come across.
28. morally askew U.N.
blonde shiksa ,   USA   (11.08.07)
While the intentions behind the formation of the U.N. were initially good ones, it has become a very corrupt and morally askew body. They pick on tiny Israel, a country that, while not perfect, is still the best thing going in the middle east; and while they are picking on Israel, they overlook atrocities going on elsewhere. If the U.N. is so concerned about human rights, perhaps their attention should be turned to matters in, say, the Arab world and in Darfur instead of zeroing in on Israel. It's time to rethink the U.N. Perhaps it should be abolished and started over from scratch. One need only look at the selection a few years back of Syria (Syria!) on the Security Council to know that something is seriously amiss.
