31. I Applaud Gal Hirsch
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (11.12.07)
I hereby award Mr. Gal Hirsch the "Reuven Brauner Award for Courage". I am in no position to know whether Mr. Hirsch is right or not, but he has won my complete respect for courageously speaking out honestly about this matter. Good going, Gal.
32. General Hirsch is brave and honest
John ,   London,UK   (11.12.07)
General Gal Hirsch must have a lot of guts to be this honest about his own superiors. Gentelman who is this brave would have easily led Israel to victory against Hezbollah last years instead of humiliation under the likes of General Dan Halutz, the Chief of Army Staff who was sacked in disgrace after Hezbollah declared victory over Israel. Hirsch is a goodman. He is now revealing how the war was fought. Top military commannders hid behind their own soldiers and when things got bad they fled the battlefield. No wonder the ordinary IDF soldier lost his morale and did not give his best in the fight against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. When you have a military force whose Generals think like politicians rather than professional soldiers, then you are surely going to see failure after failure. Israeli failure in Hezbollah war and its basic causes are now laid open by Gal Hirsch. Top brass were incompitent and unprofessional. They deserted their own men during the war. I think Israel better get leaders like Hirsch if it is serious about confornting its enemies. Otherwise it will see more defeats. It is Israeli army officers who were real cause of IDF loss of reputation.
