2. Perhaps the reason they cleaned the area is because they
(11.14.07)
exumed the bones and dumped them in the garbage.
3. partial truth is a lie

According to the agreements between the Palestinian Authority and Israel, Joseph's Tomb was to be accessible to Jews. The Arabs immediately reneged on the agreement anc continuously assaulted the worshipers, claiming it was the grave of an Arab sheik. In one attack, Madhat Yussuf was lightly wounded. Instead of rescuing him, Ehud Barak ordered the army to let him bleed to death. Since that time, Jews have tried to continuously pray at the site, despite the difficulties, including those imposed by the Israeli government. The Arabs have destroyed the site and used it as a city garbage dump, proving their claims of an Arab sheik grave were lies. It is welcome to see that, for now, the Arabs are suddenly keeping, for the first time, an agreement they signed more than ten years ago.

Joesph is one of my favorite people from the Bible. I was sad when I heard how his tomb had been trashed. I'm glad it's now being taken care of. One of these days I will visit Israel & Joesph's Tomb is one of the (many) things I want to see.
6. Terrible standard of English, reportage

This holy place has turned into a city dumb, Huh?? Cmon Ynet. The photo's are terrible. You can't see anything in the before pic, and the after pic is obscrured by people. And why didn't you get a quote from the Palestinians
7. CLEANUP TIME!!!!
al mann ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.14.07)
Congratulations to the bravery of the Breslover Chassidim, who have more guts than the government, which is tainted with fear and cowardice. This is the actions of real B'nai Yisrael whose belief is strong and does not relent from the knowledge and faith that the legitimacy of Israel is in the hands of B'nai Yisroel and no other nation.

Now, who can say that Joseph was Jewish? As a Nabi ,he had the vision of Islam coming with Muhammed (Sic) Nuuu, am I helping to distort the truth or not? Soon I will be able to become a Leftist, and with time...who knows..a Peace Now`nik.
11. #8 Yes it's Holy, only if they believe it's real
(11.14.07)
but the problem is with Jews; they believe it's real but they desecrated it before by steeling its land and implanting military post in its core.
12. If Palestinians have little imagination ...
Daniel ,   Israel   (11.14.07)
... they should upgrade all such holy sites within their territories, they can start earning money by way of fees from tourists.

When I can pray there without Arab or Muslim permission, then I'll believe it. Nevertheless, kol ha-kavod to the Breslovs. PS: the most popular Israeli Jewish newspaper not publishing candlelighting times on Erev Shabbat and Erev Khag in its on-line counterpart is a disservice to Jewish readers and a disgrace to Israel. Even ha-Aretz publishes candlelighting times. Paqid Yirmeyahu Israeli Orthodox Jew Advancing Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming Jews & non-Jews www.netzarim.co.il
16. Who said this is Prophet Yusuf's tomb
Palestinian   (11.14.07)
This has never been acknowledged ever. If it was the case, then it would have been treated just like prophet Ibrahim's tomb in Hebron. This tomb in Nablus is a tomb of someone who is not Yusuf the prophet peace be upon him.
17. How would Muslims feel if Jews defiled their holy places

for security reasons, you can not google it, as usual. had you been in the 40s, googling of Hagana or Irgun would have never returned any result!!
21. 5 Christy: I hope there are not as many gravesites for
Rivkah   (11.14.07)
Joseph as there are for the mother of Jesus. Glastonbury, England has a gravestone for Mary and insist she is buried there. There is a grave for her in France and in Israel, too. The Roman Catholics believe her body went to sleep and did not decay in the year it took to transport her to Jerusalem where she woke up to ascend into heaven, giving her green belt to someone as she went up. If you go to the vatican, you can see the actual cross Jesus was crucified on except that he was crucified on a fig tree that will come back to life. How does the Catholic church know they have the actual cross Jesus was crucified on when he was crucified on a tree? The mother of Emperor Constantine carried around the corpse of a dead man, placing him on crosses until he came back to life on one. That one, she pronounced was the cross of Jesus, except that Jesus was crucified on a tree. 22. #16, it is Shechem, not Nablus (occupier name)
David ,   Boston, USA   (11.14.07)
Please dont ignore the fact that Jews are native to the land. You are just the latest invaders. We can live in peace when you start respecting our holy sites, especially the Temple Mount, the Holy of Holies, which is currently being desecrated by Muslims on a daily basis.
23. Joseph was in Egypt !
Pal girl ,   Nablus   (11.14.07)
Hadn't Joseph beenburied in Egypt? This grave in Nablus belongs to the Ottoman period . It's for some religious person called Yusuf ..there are other sites like this in Nablus . Even , if his remains were returned to Palestine , it's very likely that he was buried in Hebron rather than Nablus ..Some people would say that Jacob bought a burial site in Schkem and it 's possible that he was burried there. Well , all the documents dating back to the Ottoman time confirms that this was not the burial site of Joseph , peace be upon him .
24. RE #21 & 23 - Joseph's Tomb
Christy ,   Boston, US   (11.14.07)
# 21 - Thanks for the info. #23 - Read The Bible. When Moses & the Jews left Egypt, they took Joseph's body/coffin with them. Joseph had asked to be buried in his homeland of Israel. I would place more faith in Jewish tradition regarding Joseph's burial site than I would Ottoman records. The Ottoman's didn't appear on the scene until hundreds of years after Joseph was buried. Since they came as conquerors, Joseph's grave location is something the native Israeli Jews might not mention.
25. RE: 23. Joseph was in Egypt !
Ariel Sokolovsky ,   Boston USA   (11.14.07)
B"H Pal girl Josef's bones were brought back to the land of Yisrael (Cnaan) and he was buried in Shechem (Nablus).part of the portion of the land that was given to Joseph's descendants. "Shmot (Exodus)13 :19. Moses took Joseph's bones with him, for he [Joseph] had adjured the sons of Israel, saying, God will surely remember you, and you shall bring up my bones from here with you" and Yehoshua (Joshua) 24:32 32 And Joseph's bones, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem in the tract of land that Jacob bought for a hundred pieces of silver [a] from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem. This became the inheritance of Joseph's descendants. Footnotes: 1. Joshua 24:32 Hebrew hundred kesitahs ; a kesitah was a unit of money of unknown weight and value.
26. 24 Christy: There were six different types of wood used for
Rivkah   (11.14.07)
the crucifixion of Jesus on a fig tree and each represented an aspect of his life: fig, olive, cedar, etc. Each piece of wood under his feet and over his feet to hold the nail in place that went through his feet, the footrest piece on the tree, the crossbar piece nailed to the tree, the two pieces of wood on the front of his wrists and the sign above his head..each was made of a different wood and Olaf's essay son this are enlightening. A fig tree is a symbol of Israel and just as Israel was like dry dead bones that came back to life, so the fig tree Jesus was nailed to that died will come back to life. It is believed that that fig tree was planted by Adam after he left the Garden of Eden. 27. Joseph's Tomb
Vivian Flamm ,   E. Vassalboro,Maine   (11.15.07)
Interestingly, it may be that it is the religeous Jews who will bring peace to the area. Truly religeous Palestinians can respect these people, who care deeply about our traditions, and without whom we Jews have nothing.

Olaf Hage is admired here,a Pakistani friend of mine claims all muslims are in agreement on their belief, not like christians and jews...so why are they really fighting in so many places...? Arent we all 'sposed to be trying to reach out to Him who made us...and each other?I love the study of the Word, seems a lonely place to be though. Why cant people stop having to be so right all the time and try to learn a little more about what they dont understand?
