31. If it looks like a Jewish state then..
Jakov   (11.18.07)
it must be one. These MK's are not in reality. Let's have a look why: 1) The country is called Israel 2)It's flag has a Star of David 3)Oh, and don't forget the Menorah on the coat of arms 4)The majority of its citizens are Jewish. 5The revival of and continuing use of Hebrew as an official language of the State. It is by far the major language too. All ingredients put together make this a Jewish state. No question about it. What a shame that there are these charlatans in the Knesset. While we're at it, ever notice that Saudi will not take in the Palestinians? I guess they didn't want them living in Mecca, Medina or even Jeddah. Let the action speak for itself.
32. Jewish Israel
Esteban Quito ,   Bejigaland   (11.18.07)
I always thought that the purpose of Israel existence was to have a Jewish state. To reject its Jewish identity is to advocate its destruction. There are plenty of Muslim states for Muslims where everyone else is second-class citizen. Yet the media does not call them racist states for privileging Muslims (legally and culturally). Arab sates and the Arabs of the Land of Israel already disagreed to accept a Jewish State and did not accept the partition in 1947, thus starting a war they lost. Perhaps Arabs in Israel should serve the state the same way that Jewish citizens do if they want to maintain their privileges and enjoy modernity, civil rights, and justice. Oh, sorry, a Palestinian state lead by Hamas will guarantee their civil rights and justice (Islamic) while one lead by Fatah will guarantee the respect of law and a modern progressive administration. The Arab Monitoring Committee is lucky to exist within a Jewish democratic modern state. Imagine these type of statements in Arab democracies...
33. I, For One Could Care Less
Jimmy Binz ,   Jerusalem, ISRAEL   (11.18.07)
what an arabian recognizes or not What arabians recognize or not is of no nevermind and utterly inconsequential to my life as a Jew living in MY LAND
34. Wow- forget peace, I'm pro-war
Korem ,   New York, USA   (11.18.07)
I was looking forward to the Annapolis conference. I was really glad Israel was ready to pull out to 1967 borders and there would be 2 states operating side by side. I think some of the ways IDF soldiers act toward Palestinians under the occupation is despicable. I am strongly anti-Kahanist, who I consider nothing more than terrorists and religious loons on the Israeli side. Most Israelis would consider me a leftist for these reasons. But if they won't recognize Israel's right to be a Jewish state- well, forget peace. The Right of Return cannot be granted. History cannot be reversed. Whoever heard of 60 year refugees? It should be the PA& the UN's responsibility to get Palestinians in refugee camps into better conditions, into real cities or towns. Maybe even with some Israeli compensation funds. But Ashkenazi Jews in Israel can't return to Europe, the 850000 Sephardic Jews of Israel (kicked out from Iraq, Syria, etc in the same manner as the 700000 Palestinians in 1948, but actually settled into Israel properly- something the PA failed to do) cannot return to their respective Arab homelands. The Ethiopian Jews can't return to the nightmarish poverty they suffered in Africa. And the Palestinians can't return to Israel proper. Arab-Israelis should be treated with respect and any discriminatory policies directed against them investigated and ended, but no right of return. If the Arabs won't recognize Israel as a Jewish state, Israel shouldn't recognize Palestine as an Arab state, and floods of settlers should enter their lands and buy all the property. This is so stupid, the idea of not recognizing the other side as what it IS. Israel is a Jewish state, a democracy with the theoretical intent to protect its non-Jewish minorities. As much as this practically may deviate from the theory, such deviation can be ended by policy. But Israel is innately a Jewish state. If not, why does land have to be split? Why shouldn't there just be one big Palestine? That seems to be the objective of anyone denying Israel this fundemental right. And in doing so they show themselves not to be pro-peace, but part of hamas and islamic jihad's 45 year war to eradicate Israel. If some Israeli communist loons were furthering this, and it was not an official PA statement, that would be all right, but that's not the case. Israel should withdraw from the negotiations. The political representatives of the Arabs have always been intransigent. They are really missing an oppurtunity here, as they tend to do. What a shame. Looks like war and suffering are the victors of this situation.
35. Arabs Reject Israel as Jewish!
mark ,   westfield usa   (11.18.07)
If the Arabs reject Israel as the Jewish State, what then is Israel negotiating for? That is a basic non-issue that the Arabs can't even agree on! Give it up, there will NEVER be peace between Muslims and ANYBODY! The world needs to wake up and realize we are in a religious war. The only way to win is to destroy your enemy before you are destroyed.
36. #19 scott
(11.18.07)
when you "write" something that is not tyour own words, please annotate or put down the rource if your talk bacl. actually, it was written by an arab journalist working in the usa. nevertheless, you as well as him, are 100% correct.
37. Glad this is happening now
Wendy in Chicago   (11.18.07)
Let's get it all out on the table. They don't recognize Israel as "Jewish" because that would mean giving up the right of return, meaning, we want the right to live in our new country, and yours, too! Glad this has come out now, because in the past, doublespeak was used to hide this stance, with disastrous results. Let Israel go in not being able to pretend they don't know who they're dealing with.
38. What the Arab Palestinians Want
Wendy in Chicago   (11.18.07)
1. The right to live in the new Palestine 2. the right to live in Israel, too! 3. The right not to develop an economy, civil infrastructure, or meaningful education, then blame Israel 4. The right to work where the jobs are - in Israel 5. The right to medical care in Israel 6. The right to have access to get into Israel anytime they want, meaning no checkpoints 7. The right to shoot rockets at Israeli kindergartens anytime they want 8. The right to use Israel to export the little economic goods they do produce 9. The right ot ruin their own population with backwardness to extend their unsolvable problems until the end of time
39. 8 Lavie DON'T YOU GET IT? IT'S OUR JEWISH, DEMOCRATIC STATE!
Stewart ,   USA   (11.18.07)
It never was theirs to begin with. Now go out and play with those nice Arabs in their free, democratic states. Make shure to take your flack jacket in case something blows up. Don't worry about taking a video camera. Their's plenty of lost French press footage to make any point you wish. Now go out and be enlightened by all these fine souls and come back when you get a REAL second or third class citizenship.
40. PS Arn't Hindu's living on land Muslims lived on even though
Stewart ,   USA   (11.18.07)
Hindus live there first. Hey, India: Give it all back to the Arabs . . . I mean it is the only thing that makes sense, right? Once they set foot on it and put up a Mosque, it's gotta be theirs, right. I mean once they take over the world this logic will be crystal clear so why upset them in the mean time while we dim, second class infidels fail to see the light?
41. Re: # 8
Joe ,   USA   (11.18.07)
What about the Arab Republic of Egypt or the Arab Republic of Syria? Do these violate your sense of human rights for all? How about the Islam Republic of Iran?
42. Israeli Arabs Reject State- So State Should Reject Them
Mitchell ,   Miami, USA   (11.18.07)
First the Arab MK's and now the Arab organizations boldly rise to disclaim their loyalty to the State of Israel. Boot them- one and all-unless they sign a loyalty oath and commit to National Service.
43. I don't recognize so called palestinians either
lea ,   usa   (11.18.07)
The British used the name Palestine for the Jewish people living in Eratz Israel. NOT for Arabs to create yet another country! Send them ALL to Jordon-if they'll accept them or the other 22 arabic states.. While your at it.send Olmert & crew as well as non loyal citizens of Israel to the 'juden free' arabic countri es as well.. And why should the Arabs be in charge of The Temple Mount,Rachel's tomb & our other holy sites? Utterly crazy!! Jews stand up for Judiasim & forget the anti-semites..Bush,Rice & the farce of the Israeli Govt. Forget being loved by those hipocritical a..h...s,,,,THEY MUST GO!! With love of Israel, Lea
44. What a joke coming from a "people" that don't even exist!
Palestiniansareamyth ,   USA   (11.18.07)
A Palestinian language, culture, society, or country has never existed. Israel should tell the fraudualent Arab "Palestinians" to screw off!
45. Arabs are not interested. Then Why?
Daniel ,   Israel   (11.18.07)
Arabs don't wish to settle the matter, why waste our tax money on conferences, which will have no results? And why US is wasting its tax payer's money on these fruitless efforts?
46. Israel's Existence is Forbidden by Islamic Law
Norway   (11.18.07)
Yasir Arafat's off. pal-Authority radio station, Voice of Palestine, broadcast the following religious sermon at al Aqsa mosque, May 3, 1999, instructing all Muslims that Israel is part of Palestine AND THAT ISRAEL'S SURVIVAL IS "FORBIDDEN BY RELIGIOUS LAW." Islamic Jihad leader, Ramadan Abdalla Shalah said, Nov. 10,1996, Mid-East Mirror, "IN THE END ISRAEL WILL DISAPPEAR AS THE KORAN STATES. FROM THE STANDPOINT OF THE KORAN, THERE IS NO PLACE FOR ISRAEL AND ITS EXISTENCE IS NOT JUSTIFIABLE. Another Hamas leader, Abdel-Aziz Rantisi said, May 25, 1997, Jerusalem Post Islam does not permit giving up one inch of Palestine and states that Palestine belongs to the Muslims, belongs to the Palestinian people, not to the Jews. BARTERING LAND IS NOT LIBERATION AND NOT PERMISSIBLE IN ISLAM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryfqgOaCQnk Arafat: "Peace for us means the destruction of Israel. We are preparing for an all-out war, a war which will last for generations. Since Jan. 1965, when Fatah was born, we have become the most dangerous enemy that Israel has... We shall not rest until the day when we return to our home, and until we destroy Israel." (El Mundo, of Caracas, Venzuela reports Arafat as saying Feb 11, 1980) September 13, 1995 - the same day that the peace agreement ceremony was held in Washington D.C., Yasser Arafat spoke on Jordan Television: "Since we cannot defeat Israel in war we do this in stages. We take any and every territory that we can of Palestine, and establish sovereignty there, AND WE USE IT AS A SPRINGBOARD TO TAKE MORE. WHEN THE TIME COMES, WE CAN GET THE ARAB NATIONS TO JOIN US FOR THE FINAL BLOW AGAINST ISRAEL." http://www.netreach.net/~zoa/newsLinks/shockers/m98.htm
47. To MK Barakeh. Are You Delirious ??
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (11.18.07)
You say :".. our battle to stay in our homeland (i.e. Israel) ". WHAT nonsense are you talking about -- that you can't stay in Israel !! Are you delirious ?? The Arabs can stay in Israel. NO one is forbidding you to live in Israel. Although Israel is a Jewish State -- you can remain in Israel. BTW Barakeh, we do NOT need permission from you guys to ACCEPT Israel as a Jewish State -- whether you like it or not !!
48. Who still thinks coexistence is possible?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.18.07)
We have a hostile, enemy population within our borders. That they are Israeli citizens is a legal fiction. Their vision of the future is the reversal of history since 1948 - the end of a sovereign Jewish state. This is a far more pressing problem than futile negotiations with Abbas. We evidently cannot coexist in the same political entity. In effect, this is a declaration of war against the Jewish state.
49. Scott, Chicago
Abel Shoni ,   France   (11.18.07)
You said it all, nothing to add. Thank you !
50. Thank You Thank You to all Muslims We have no problem
Mike ,   Israel   (11.18.07)
living the way we live keep it up you guys are great muahhhhh to all muslims gota love there way of thinking.
51. You will Give Up
Sexy Arabian Guy ,   Saudi Arabia   (11.18.07)
It will be hard time for you to give up but you have to. You do not have any choice. USA will not help you this time. The will refelct who needs peace and who needs war. You were happy before with your ARMY. But after what happened last year, I guess you do not have trust not only in your ARMY even in your leadership. Let's wait and see.
52. Only one state west to Jordan
Iossef ,   J'lem, Israell   (11.18.07)
The two state solution is dead. There is only one solution, one state, a jewish one, west to Jordan. Arabs from Juda-Shomron become jordanian citizens continue to live among us if they want but are our guests. The dream of a palestinian state is closed !
53. The next war and our sons.
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (11.18.07)
I have a young son soon to be bar mitzvahed. I'm afraid that he will have to fight the next war to get back what these idiots are so quick to give away.
54. Just Tell These Guys to Shut Up
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (11.18.07)
Add all of this to Hamas and Hez on Israel's north and west, Fatah and Islamic Jihad; Syria and Arab refugees to the north and east, and Iran further east, and it all forms a pattern. Israel couldn't be defeated from without, so why not from within (it's post 67 borders). I admit, the Palis are clever and also somewhat stupid. The more they push, the more they will be pushed back. One of these days Israel will have a govt that will: bring in capital punishmeht, no "deals" to release inmates; hitting Hez and Hamas using every weapons available; stronger sedition laws for 5th columnists, and finally a Constitution making Israel a Jewish state OR state of the Jews. Sooner or later this will all come into being, the sooner the better. Maybe 1m Jews from the Diaspora could help...let the Israeli Arabs like it or leave. I would tell them both to shut up and leave ASAP, without any second thoughts.
55. #8 - Jewish state is equivlant to a Palestinian State
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (11.18.07)
So If the Palestinians want to stay in Israel, Jews can stay in Judea and Sumaria.
56. The bottom line ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.18.07)
There are two possible outcomes: Either we go or they go. Which will it be?
57. Ugggg
richi ,   EIlat Israel   (11.18.07)
When will Hadash and Ballad stop getting involved in sematics and start doing there job. They spend time worrying about where Palestianb authority should recognize israel as a jewish state instead of ensuring that the arab minority in Israel get the services it deserves. It is time there learnt how to be politicians from the ultra religious community who have figured out where to fight for there constituence rights
58. remember: he represents at least a third of arab voters
aaron ,   ra'anana   (11.18.07)
There is a sizable proportion of voting citizens in this country (10% = 12 knesset seats) which would like to see the State of Israel cease to exist. I don't have my dictionary handy, but i think this meets the definition of a fifth column.
59. meaning Zionism is charge, Jews need it be acquitted?
observer   (11.18.07)
by whom?, by bunch of terrorists, they do not even recognize?
60. #8 pls brush up your definition of democracy
Raphael ,   Netanya   (11.18.07)
1) it is the law of majority: 1 man 1 vote 2) the principle of nationalities issued during tje 19th century carved Europe's boundaries: the ideal nation state matches nationality with citizenship. The so called human and political rights of the german minorities in Czechia or Poland detonated WW2. And resulted in the legal expulsion of Sudeten Germans. Does the arab 5th column ask for the same fate?
