Chris ,   Warsaw Poland   (11.18.07)
and this happened in the 'only democracy in the Middle East'. I was waiting for these morons bureaucrats to come to reason. Apparently I overestimated my expectations. Apparently some Jews in Israel suffer from the occupation: they suffer from deterioration of the level of humanity.
32. Needed: A Humane Policy
lynne ,   Texas, USA   (11.18.07)
As a Jew myself, I advocate that humane policies always be pursued, not bureaucratic ones. This is a tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man and his family. I want other people's children treated as well as my own.
33. #6: 40 years of occupation mean
Israel's responsible   (11.18.07)
The people of Gaza were under Israeli occupation for 40 years. That's 40 years of apartheid and Israeli terror. Therefore Israel is responsible for them whether a fascist such as yourself can get the fact through his thick head or not.
34. sick Arabs are not Israel's problem

35. So much hate espoused here; meanwhile an innocent young man
Ellen Prescott ,   Southsea, Hampshire   (11.18.07)
has died of perhaps a curable malady. The hate and the utter absence of human compassion that seeps from the minds of the posters here I hope does not represent any consensus of the Israeli population, for that would be a true human catastrophe. When will Israelis and particularly their supporters in the West open their eyes and realise that Palestinians and Arabs are decent, intelligent people who only want to give their families an enjoyable life. Israelis must also eventually acknowledge that they illegally occupy Palestinian land and will have to come to some sort of comprehensive agreement about the status of the land and who controls it: the most equitable resolution would be to have a national referendum of all people living within Palestine to choose the fate of the country(ies); whether a two-state solution or a one state solution would work best. It is high time for Israelis to stop fearing Arabs, who pose little to no threat and, if you get to know them you'll realise all you've been missing. In the meantime innocent young men will die waiting for treatment because Israelis fear that a cancer patient poses a security threat.
36. Arabs bad choices killed this young man, not Israeli Policy
rht ,   Jerusalem, ISRAEL   (11.18.07)
Literally, BILLIONS of dollars have been given to the Arabs in Gaza and the West Bank in the last 15 years. If they choose to spend it on bombs, artilery, missles and weapons instead of hospitals that is not Israel's fault. Let the gulf states treat him. There is a border crossing between Gaza and Egypt let the Arabs take care of their own. Why should Isralei's donate blood to be used for those who want to spill ours? If the Arabs want peace than we should be a partner. So far I see no partner on the Arab side.
37. Arab HYPOCRISY
Yohanan ,   NY   (11.18.07)
Why all the Arab countries do not give medical help to their poor brothers in Gaza? why pick on Israel ?
38. Is Israel the Only Country in the Middle East With Hospitals
tinashkuli   (11.18.07)
What about Egypt, Jordan, etc.? Or let me guess, letting Palestinians die is just another PROPAGANDA TOOL, just like Arabs keeping Palestinians in refugee camps, and using women and children as human shields, in the hope that they get killed, etc.
39. Palestinian dies of Cancer
Robert Nagy ,   Budapest Hungary   (11.18.07)
So what he was not admiited into Israel. If the need for a jew to be admitted to any Arab country, could this ever happen. Let them take care of themselves. Who really cares
40. all you people happily bashing Israel
israeli ,   israel   (11.18.07)
seem to forget that Ynet published this little piece a while ago: Palestinian patients complaining that their own authorities are reluctant to send them to Israel for medical treatment: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3465150,00.html So now you want to make us feel bad that a dying patient was not allowed into Israel? Does anyone have any idea how many cancer patients die in Israel every day? Do you think Israeli medicine can perform miracles and save everyone, Gazans in particular?
41. Israel the merciless!
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.18.07)
Light unto the nations? I don't think so.
42. #3 Michael, let me clear up your confusion
Khalid ,   Gaza City   (11.18.07)
Israel has shut Gaza's borders not only with Israel but also with Egypt. As well as the seaspace, and has bombed the airport. Gazans can't go anywhere by land, sea or space, even if they are dying of cancer.
43. If only these Gaza idiots had been wise..
ben ,   singapore   (11.18.07)
choosing peace as oppose to terrorising the civilians. I wont say these are one of those thing cant be avoided.Actually could have been avoided if only some humane value applied in the pressing circumstances. But nvere the less, the gazaan must also look at thier behaviour in bombimg civilian public places. All the past terror has created a disharmony in the minds of people. The gazaan have acted in a manner that all immigration exits are closed tight to prevent their movements. At the same time the authorities could have excercise their discretionary powers in a humanistic way to allow these cancer patients to pass- just to get the necessary treatment they deserve, although how distasteful the end effect could be for the israelis. In past many Gazaan been treated in the hospital for varies medical condition and later they have gone terrorising /bombing the public places. This is the true story of the gazaans to the point all doors are shut. No one shut the Doors but the Gazaan theselves shut theyr oen door. It is very sad to see so many civilians die when they could have been treated on time. The Resources and tools are not properly distributed in mnay hospitals. Now we got to do the correct thing. we must not forget to treat the sick, the poor, the homeless, the children an the wounded. BUT THE TERRORIST DONT GIVE THE A DROP OF WATER.
44. to #33
kutuzov ,   new york   (11.18.07)
Let me start by saying that you are an imbecile. While no one takes joy at any civilian deaths, lets not forget the numerous times that palestinians have tried to take advantage of israel. One example is the use of ambulances to smuggle weapons (well documented). Another example is the palestinian woman who while getting treatment in israel, tried to become a suicide bomber in order to kill the very doctors who were helping her. Palestinians are responsible for their own...they have resources but choose to utilize then toward war. Their corrupt Fatah embezzles money and their terrorist Hamas, is more interested in weapons than healthcare. This unfortunate young man aside, why should israel take upon its shoulders the welfare of its enemies, who want to see nothing more than the destruction of jews?
45. Cancer death in Gaza
Bob ,   L A US   (11.18.07)
Nothing in this report shows the man died because he was not allowed into Israel. He died 4 months later after the request. He was , sadly. at the end. The Israeli doctor wanted to do 'tests' not treatment. Why did he not go to Egypt. Guns come in from there as well as people going from Gaza to Egypt..The title here is wrong and misleading
46. RIP
cfs ,   Toulouse, France.   (11.18.07)
Rest in peace Al-Kurdi.
47. Why didn't he go to Egypt? That's where they get their arms
redmiike ,   tel aviv and london   (11.18.07)
Gaza is an enemy and attacks Israel on a daily basis. Egypt supplies them with weapons so let Egypt take care of them. The humanitarian thing is nonsense and Israel should cut off Gaza completely and if the Gazans don't like it then let them overthrow Hamas. As with everything in life you can't have opposites, light and dark; hot and cold etc Mike
48. Gazans must remove Cancer(Hamas).Else they lose a generation
KMR ,   Middle East   (11.18.07)
Hamas responsible for Kurdi episode. Human Rights silent on Hamas (always) regrettable.
49. YOU TELL THEM............................

51. Short memory...
Franco ,   Roma, Italia   (11.18.07)
While I regret the loss of this young life, I also have to say that sometimes Palestinian patients indeed pose a real threat: a few years ago, a young Palestinian woman, who had been treated in Israel for orthopaedic surgery, decided to shahidize herself killing the same physicians that cured her. At the Eretz crossing, the metal detector rang furiously, having detected the bomb she was carrying. She staged a fake fall, broke in tears and cried it was only the metal prothesys she had in the leg that alarmed the security system. When she was approached by Israeli personnel running to the purpose of helping her, she detonated the explosive, taking two lives, many injured. I don’t know if this poor young boy was innocent: if so, I cry for him. But, nonetheless, I trust the Shin Bet.
52. tikkun olum
Mel ,   Jew   (11.18.07)
In Judaism it is very important to do mitzvot and help people in need. I don't understand why a Jewish state wouldn't help someone. he's dying, he's not a security risk. If you think his family is then don't let them in. And to those who said that he shouldn't be allowed in b/c his people don't recognize Israel and etc: why should this kid pay for their actions?

57. i feel sorry for him
tal   (11.18.07)
i really do. politics should never be involved in health and the opportunity to help a dying person. i can only hope the shabak had a good reason not to let him in.
58. medical
colin   (11.18.07)
If the physicians for human rights would do what they are paid for there would not be problems like that which happened this week and a husband of a sick woman attacked a docter. They can stop looking at the terrorists and look after the isreali sick.Let those of gaza find solutions with the hamas leadership not from israel. The same sick voted for the hamas to cease all connections with israel.
59. no win situation
Josie ,   Israel   (11.18.07)
if he died in an israeli hospital they would also say israeli doctors killed him... at least he died accordance to the will of Allah... so why do they still bother to get him cured in Israel? Just to make an issue !!!!
