1. Re: Assad's Photo.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.26.07)
Mr Assad, if you keep telling everyone how big it is, you'll never get a date. There's more truth in that than just pointing out Assad's inadequacies. Syria is a weak player but they know how to bluff. The same goes for Iran. These are weak, third-world, failing states. But they know how to bluff. And everyone seems to fall for it. Instead of playing their game, a swift kick in the ass is what is needed.
2. How funny of Nahmias.
MK ,   USA   (11.26.07)
First, If Assad said he would attend Annapolis, Nahmias would say "All of this was expected" While the headlines yesterday said that Syria was not going to attend Annapolis, and I am sure the genius Nahmias would say "All this was expected". Second, why would Syria be interested in burning Iraq ? Does Syria not host 2 million Iraqis who are sucking the resources of that country without any compensations neither from the EU or the USA? And why would Syria be interested in an Iraqi civil war that might have a spill-over effect on Syria itself? Assad always mentioned that, and rightly so. I hope that Nahmias stop making false statements and start thinking more critically, intelligently, and most of all, OBJECTIVELY.
3. Assad's posture
Petra ,   usa   (11.26.07)
Is much ado about puffing. Propaganda is the arabs specialty. No matter the failure, the bombs from Israels elite planes, he still tries to look good to muslims worldwide. Maybe another air strike would help him to accept Israels terms? Glowing in the dark is possible for him as well.
4. smokescreen
Richard ,   London UK   (11.26.07)
The writer states, I quote: Meanwhile, the Teheran-Damascus axis proves its strength in other arenas: The destabilized Lebanon, the burning Iraq, and unstable Gaza Strip. aside from the obvious emotive use of the word 'axis' I would also suggest that the US ignited the fires in Iraq and that israel is far more responsible for the situation in Gaza than Syria. What if there is an anti US coalition in the ME? Surely if Iran and Syria had hundreds of thousands of troops on a war footing in Canada the US would be a little nervous. Especially if the politicians were speaking of 'regime change'. The writer of this article is employing the same tactics of the Neocons, create a smokescreen of hyperbole. Sprinkle in plenty of lies (regarding WMDs and plans to invade / attack the West) and bingo, there's the causus belli.
5. #3 and disgusting comments

Isn't it strange when the leader of a country says he will send a delegation to peace talks, and Ms PEtra of the USA says "glowing in the dark is possible for him as well" She thereby reveals some sort of deep psychotic longing to see the Syrians hit with nuclear weapons. Perhaps she would like to explain to us how a gesture towards peace leads her, in the depth of a murderous and genocidal sickness, to state that she would like to see another air strike on Syria and then implies that she would like it to be nuclear. Should we be comparing Ms Petra to the greatest mass murderers of the last century, whose political support from their populations enabled them to kill millions. I believe that Ms Petra should seriously think before she starts spouting off with holocaust-loving statements.

Sounds more like an Islamist-Jihadist living in the UK than an Anglo-Saxon. Don't spew your Islamist-Jihadist crap. See the face of Islamist-Jihadists in www.thereligionofpeace.com to know the truth as to who have been the worst murderers in history. Read "The Force of Reason" by Oriana Fallaci, "Leaving Islam" edited by Ibn Warraq, "Because They Hate" by Brigitte Gabriel, and "Religion of Peace?" by Gregory M. Davis, PhD.

I am really happy to see that not all of Ynet readers are warmongers. I hope that the conference of Annapolis will be a starting point for a real peace process to aviod our childern more wars and tears

And what relation does your comment have to Ms Petra wishing to see the Syrian leadership "glow" after a nuclear attack? Knee-jerk reactions like yours actually only serve to show up how ridiculous and polarised your views are. Quoting a long list of Islamophobe authors is hardly a balanced view of life on earth. And how do you address the implicit call by #3 for a nuclear bomb to be dropped on Syria? That seems to be the relevant point here - not your Islamphobe ranting and raving. And what is the address of the nearest loony bin to where you live? I'm going to make you a reservation post haste.

You seem disturbed by Petra's post. Aren't you disturbed by Iran's President Ahmedinejad's repeated threats of wiping out Israel? His predecessor, Rafsanjani, said that a single nuke would do the job. And Iran is feverishly working on their nukes to accomplish their evil intention.

The clarifications can only be return of the Golan. With toays weapons geography is more important than ever. With todays weapons the heights will control the coastal roads, Even more of Israel will be within range of existing weapons.
