but themselves. (End)
2. On what basis can Israel continue to deal with the moderate
Avihu ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.02.07)
Abbas if he refuses to: 1) Recognize Israel as a state that exists here by right - having been proclaimed based on UN decision - not only as a fact? 2)Recognize Israel as the nation-state of a people, the Jewish people, based on the universally accepted right of all peoples to national self-determination and based on UN resolution 181 of 29 Nov 1947? Indeed, higher ups in Abbas's administration have even questioned the existence of a Jewish people, the existence of a nearly 4,000 year old people, while demanding the establishment of a nation-state for a people that has reached a level of maturity as a people only in the late 1960s.
3. bla,bla,bla towards disaster.
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (12.02.07)
Israel will only win this madness when it starts following its destiny. It is a shame to see Israel put in one of the worse places in an international science contest;it is a shame to see Israel imerged in a corrupt, brabed Knesset ,and fighting an hipocrite fight. The fight Israel and arabs(and US,EU,etc) are fighting now is a fight for economical /financial interests ,as selling arms;selling uniforms;etc. In other words ,it is a fight to feed an economical/financial machine. And,meanwhile ,pagans-church -and thieves-islan-,prepare their weapons for their taking over, each one in its peculiar way. Israel will only succed when it cleans itself of this dirties and become a truly light into nations. An interesting talk back goes here at #16 http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3476432,00.html
4. a little sugar
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (12.02.07)
I guess olmert and co. have to send some sweets to Eli Yishai and Avigdor Leiberman, for Shas and Yisroel Beiteinu a little bit of sugar always helps the medicine go down. Olmert has lots of experience being a candy man, giving and taking as the 5 police investigations are showing. The candy he got from anna-police was that they dropped one investigation when he came back from being rice's dhimmi!
5. Wasn't it a unanimous decision?
Steve ,   Fla.   (12.02.07)
This news article reports, "Shas' ministers opposed the motion and voted against it." A competitor Israeli news site begins: "Tempered optimism marked a unanimous decision by the cabinet on Sunday to approve the joint declaration drafted by the Palestinian Authority and Israel at the Middle East summit in Annapolis, Maryland last week.

10. Keren #3: question?
Steve ,   Fla.   (12.02.07)
I agree with you, Israel should follow her destiny and be a light to the nations. I read #16 at the link you sent. It was an excellent analysis. I am guessing you are Hareidi? Haven't there been Hareidi --- fully observant --- Jews in our govenment, voting for "disengagement," and things of that nature in exchange for government money for religious institutions and social welfare? Haven't Hareidi religious leaders joined in govenment coalitions that did these things like Oslo and Sharon's disengagement? Shas is still in the government. Isn't Rabbi Ovadia Yosef a very religious Jew? What about Sharon's disengagement? Didn't this go against Israel's destiny? Isn't Christian President Bush defying the clear warnings in our Bible? Yet we did not see the Hareidi community out there with the "orange" Jews protesting against it, did we? Didn't our prophets warn against dividing God's land? Isn't this clear in our Torah?
11. Yishai & Lieberman
Jerry ,   NYC, USA   (12.02.07)
Are traitors to Israel and the Jewish people. As are Shas and Yisrael Beteinu. The are enabling the destruction of Israel for the sake of holding power for a little while longer. Disgusting people.
12. What was learned at Annapolis not much RIGHT ???
M. S. ,   mpls america   (12.02.07)
It may have been a good thing to let the leaders get to gather and vent a little but what did it solve because the solution is more advanced than you realize requires sciences not yet developed so Olmlet Abbas shook Bushs hand what is it like I do not care all politicians are crooks but the trick is how to get positive results any way rather than criminal passion only RIGHT ??? THANK YOU... M. S.

Keren ,   Israel-SP   (12.02.07)
I am not Haredi, and I either can not understand what those Haredim are doing in this coalizion. It is beyond me to understand. I also think they should act in the behalf of their people and not against. I guess,Haredim,as anyone else, are not all saints.
14. Jerry #11: I agree.
Steve ,   Fla.   (12.02.07)
15. Waste of time
david singer ,   sydney   (12.03.07)
Annapolis clearly confirmed that the on-going negotiations with Israel will be undertaken by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)- whose Charter specifically rejects the two state solution proposed by the President. The PLO Charter is the antithesis of the two state solution - declaring without equivocation that : 1. Palestine with the boundaries it had during the British Mandate is an indivisible territorial unit . 2. The Arab Palestinian people reject all solutions which are substituting (sic) for the total liberation of Palestine. 3. The Balfour Declaration, the Mandate for Palestine and everything that has been based on them are deemed null and void. 4. Claims of historical or religious ties of Jews with Palestine are incompatible with the facts of history How President Bush and Condoleezza Rice believe the PLO can negotiate in good faith for a two state solution in the face of these fundamental impediments to achieving such a result is one of the great mysteries that remains unanswered after the festivities, hand shakes and toasts have been concluded and everyone has gone home. These amendments were promised 14 years ago but they still remain unchanged as testimony to an organisation that hates Jews, despises the notion of a two state solution and fails to recognise the binding effect of international law. Allowing negotiations to continue without first amending the PLO Covenant is a guaranteed recipe for disaster.
