The Israeli Sufgania is one of the worst food products ever produced.
That anyone buys them is a real seasonal miracle.
With all the oil in sufganiot, latkes, etc that has gone into the blood of us Jews over the years, the real miracle of channukah is that we haven't all died off from heart disease
4. And on top they are bloody expensive

The sufganiyot are not healthy to eat, between the fat content, cholerstrol, and the fact they are soaked in oil ! We are becomming more health conscience as we learn more about what we put into our bodies!

Olive oil is a mono-unsaturated fat which removes cholesterol from the blood vessels.
If cooked the old way, and eaten in moderation, Sufganiot (doughnuts) and Levivot (latkes) can be a part of a healthy diet.
So enjoy.
Happy Chanuka (or is it Hanukah : )

I agree with you. In moderation during the festive season, I don't see why should we give yp our customs and tradition.
Canola oil, grape seed oil and recently the range of camellia tea oil are all cholesterol free.
The most important is to not over fry them, so that acrylamide ( cancerous) won't form on the surface.
I am going to enjoy my Sufganiot ( sfinja) tonight. Given the time differences in New Zealand, we will be the first to light the candles.
Hag Urim Sameah to all!
Cheers

10. Yearly Chanukah Miracle

Eat 1 donut or latke and eat burns for 8 days!
What's poison to you is not necessarily poison to the rest of those who enjoy a doughnut every now and then, especially on Hanukah. 3 doughnuts during the whole Hanuka period is not going to harm anyone if you know how to do the balancing trick (moderation).
Today we're going to buy our doughnuts and plan to enjoy them without conscience and without remorse!!! Go on! Be true to yourself and admit - you know you're yearning for a doughnut!!!
Exactly right! Customs and traditions should be kept and enjoyed. I will be cheering you on while you enjoy your Slufgania - with your time difference, you will pave the way for us! HERE'S TO SUFGANIOT!!!
Come on now - people don't inhale doughnuts every minute of the day! A couple of doughnuts during the Hanukah week will not kill anyone unless you have specific problems such as diabetes. Other than that, one has a better chance of dying from passive smoking!!!

Still, it is a terrible food.
Happy Chanuka.

Old Moze, the Israeli tour guide, was well-past retirement age but he continued to take older tourists to locations that were not too hard to get to. His customers always enjoyed these tours. You could ask any of them and they would literally sing his praises:
Moze's tour ya sure oughtta see
G \ D / G / C \ B \ A \ G

is lower and / means it is higher)

I can't let this go without being said. It isn't proper to curse G-d's name in that way. How about saying, "Baruch Hashem" to thank Him for making various forms of sustenance.

21. To The Doughnut Police
For heaven's sake, Hanukkah only lasts for eight days, so how much damage can the average person actually do in that short a time? In fact, I'll bet they probably cause more harm to themselves by worrying about ingesting a couple of doughnuts or potato latkes than they do from actually EATING the stuff.

22. Commercialised chug rip off
They overcharge for them and put hardly any filling in them. Overseas, the doughnuts are bursting with jam or other fillings, but here they rip us all off and just put a small dollop on the outside.
I'm not buying a single one!
