1. where you went wrong
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (12.09.07)
You denied the sanctity of the land sewn by the blood of those whose land it is. Enforce the right of return of those who have come to kill you since the came out of their peninsular homeland of their own name. Olmert hates Jews as does Bibi. Please G-d have mercy on those who love the land. Abram, the father of Ismael is not Abraham, the fater of Issac. Please see the difference between right and wrong. You, Jews and arabists, must see that there is a separate homeland. But it is the Jews who pay the difference until the other sees the difference and/or the Jewsput the other in their peninsular place.
2. Pathetic
Mark ,   South Africa   (12.09.07)
There is an easy solution to stop qassam attacks, which as you see is mainly aimed at Israeli civilian populated areas. Jewish compassion to civilian Arab population of gazza must cease immediatelly & Israel must bombard all of gaza, irrespective of civilian casualities.Qassam attack soon stop.
3. Israels thinking
Yisraeli   (12.09.07)
Israels thinking breeds nothing but contempt. Spend billions of dollars on a wall and fortify every city all monies that the poor need. So long as you dont have to fight the enemy and destroy them and bring peace to our populace. I dont know why I still call myself Yisraeli, the word has become an embarassment. Far from the proud days of the past.
4. War of Attrition
Brod ,   USA   (12.09.07)
The War of Attrition has been going on and been intensifying since Israel inherited a weak government. So long as a weak leadership is at the helm, Hamastan seems to be emboldened to shoot more rockets at Israel. It is time Israel has strong leadership. Strong leadership will deter the Islamist-Jihadist wolves from atttacking Israel. It is time Israelis wake up and work toward ensuring that their country is protected from the unrelenting attacks by the wolves. If the leadership can't even deter Hamastan, how would they expect to handle bigger challenges. It is time for Israel to have leaders like King David and King Solomon whose strength and wisdom come from the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
5. War of Attrition
Brod ,   USA   (12.09.07)
This War of Attrition will continue to intensify so long as weak leadership is at the helm. It is time Israel wakes up and have strong leadership to deter her enemies.
6. great success
D. Olmert ,   jerusalem   (12.09.07)
This article proves that Sharon and his supporters were right in destroying the homes of the Jews in Gaza. The time has come to follow Abbas' suggestion and repeat this great success in the West Bank! Why should only 250,000 be so lucky to live in the range of Kassams?
7. # 2. as horrible as it sounds you are right!
ari ,   israel   (12.09.07)
8. threat
marcel   (12.09.07)
Dichter, you are wasting your breath. This government will not take decisive action. If you feel strongly, then quit to cause olmert to quit. Olmert is the root of the problem. Barak was very reluctant to react when he was PM and it were only sharon and Yaalon who were able to blunt most of the arab terror.
9. You expelled the Jews from Gaza and gave it to them
Joseph P. ,   Jerusalem   (12.09.07)
and now you're complaining? And you still haven't learnt your lesson from your mistake and you're nevertheless anxious to drive out 100,000 more Jews from the West Bank & Jerusalem? You're not a small fool, but a big one.
10. arafat, olmert, hamas, ishlamic salami
Joe Shenk ,   Hartsman, USA   (12.09.07)
Ultimately, Israel will prevail
11. Slave's have not right to defend themselves
marcel ,   Florida   (12.09.07)
The truth of why Israel does nothing of substance with Gaza is because Israel is restrained by her masters in Washington. Thye do not want Israel to defeat Hamas because that might anger Saudi Arabia and Egypt and the other Arab allies, all of which are Washington's close economic saviors. It's easier to hamstring and sacrifice Israel for the greater evil ,filthy lucre. If Israel defeated Hamas ,the Saudis would not only cut off oil to the U.S. but crash our dollar and economy with spee. So a weak an easily manipulated Israel is restrained under the delusion of the Road Map peace scam. Israle is still unable to squeeze out of the trap laid for them. Bush and Condi cry to Olmert ; 'It might endange our peaceful Palestinian state plan "
12. Israel be strong
Alan s ,   Charlotte, NC   (12.09.07)
Bush and Rice are fighting for their legacy. Israel needs to fight for their people. You were bullied into leaving Gaza by the US and it only brought the terrorists w/i 35 miles of Tel Aviv. Don't make the same mistake again in the West Bank & Jerusalem. Iran has already stated their intention to drive the jewish people into the sea....STRENGTH is the only means they understand. Peace will never come from providing the surrogates of Iran a foot hold in Israel. It is so clear...why don't the leadership of Israel get it? Even the indians in America knew how to circle the wagons before the attack.
13. Fortification is not the right response!
redmiike ,   tel aviv   (12.09.07)
What will happen when the rockets can be fired an even greater distance? Tel Aviv will have to be fortified? The Palestinians simply and I mean simply need to be shown that firing kassams does not pay. This lesson could be taught very quickly if our non-government had the political will to do so and I'm talking hours and not days and without invading Gaza. We need to change our non-government for a government with a spine! Mike
14. A question for the PM
Giora Nevo ,   Israel   (12.09.07)
Why didn't Israel react when the first Qassam was fired into Israeli formal territory at the year 2000 as it should have ???
15. Simple logic dictates....
Steve ,   UK   (12.09.07)
...the way to stop an attack is not to harden the target. The way to stop an attack is to neutralize the attacker, and prevent those who would follow the means to attack again. Why is this so hard to understand? More importantly, why is this so hard to act on?
16. A solution exists, it's called Skyguard
Abe Froman ,   NY, NY   (12.09.07)
A solution exists, it's called Skyguard. Skyguard is a land based version of the US navy's CIWS, or Close In Weapons System. This Israeli government is too cheap to buy it. 95%+ of Qassam's could be shot down before entering Israel if Olmert and Barak sent the US a check. I expect that check to be sent the moment an upgraded Qassam hits Tel Aviv.
17. #16 nice try
Fro Abeman ,   YN, YN   (12.09.07)
Skyguard is a joint US/Israeli development iusing a chemical laser to destroy missiles. Not including the cost of buying a laser station, each shot costs 50 times more than an individual kassam rocket. After each shot, the laser releases a cloud of poisonous gas into the air. Not such a great idea, actually.
18. #16 - the answer is to stop the kassams and not hunker down!
redmiike ,   tel aviv   (12.09.07)
Our government is the problem! It's possible to stop the kassams in hours by teaching Hamas that the cost of firing them is to great. Unfortunately we will probably have to wait until the elections in Israel next year before anything is done! Mike
19. Where you went wrong?
Micha   (12.09.07)
Conceding to the whining of the EU. They helped us a ton during WWII. Yeah, we should trust them again. good judgment. Especially seeing that arab infiltration of the communities throughout Europe is so high. Oh, and let's not forget the UN...which is controlled by the arabs...who always say it's really controlled by the Jews. good cover, guys. But we're not idiots.
20. If the current annapolis peace inititive is sucessfull then
Psalms 83 ,   Selah   (12.10.07)
Israel can expect an unbelievable acceleration of Qassam lanches... the only peace radical islam believes in is HUDNA Untill Rice and others are able to pull thier heads out of the sand and understands this Islamic precept ...Qassams and more will continue to befall Israelis ... Those Israelis that have a concern in this area Must MUST become politicaly active and run for office ....fill the Knesset people that have the same concern.... certianly the Palistinians deserve a fair shake...but I think there is other solutions that are very possible...if the radical element is muted.
