For the situation in the South? Where are those who would disrupt normal life in the center and disrupt Olmert every time he goes to speak somewhere until something is done for the people of Sderot - and pretty soon for Ashkelon and other communities within fire range of the rockets!!!

The issue is not only salary increases but comprehensive reform of the entire educational system. The union is as much an obstacle to meaningful reform as the disasterous Education Ministry bureaucracy. Ms Tamir should be dismissed. Mr Erez should be put in jail for a strike against the public interest. The union should be fined into bankruptcy. Unfortunately, nothing much will happen. Olmert cares only about Olmert - he doesn't give a damn about this country's future. The Knesset is not much better. The victims are the teachers, the students, & ultimately, the future of the country.

What makes you think they give a damn as to the education of the poor youth of Israel. Jews cant run a shul, why do you think they can run a country? The kids of the MK's including the arab ones (they openly despise the state, whereas the Jewish ones pay lip service to it) are hightailing it to america and all points in between. If you can afford it, send them to private schools. You can't count on the gov't. to do anything right.

Because Olmert tolerates the striking teachers. Olmert will send his Yassam troops to beat and arrest anyone who would protest in the south.

Mr. Erez, the head of the teachers' union has been cast as a "bulvan" a coarse and vulgar man. Probably true, but so what. Since the issue before the state is one of negotiation, the question about him should be is he an unreasonable man. Furthermore, the reluctance of the Prime Minister to involve himself in the negotiations until yesterday, only stiffens the teachers' resolve. Until the Knesset passes legislation mandating compulsary arbitration, this cyclicar farce will repeat itself.

Starting today, you should publish daily, on your front page, the Government's proposals to end the teacher's strike, the teacher's counter-proposals, the change since yesterday, and highlight the fact if no negotiations took place. This way we can all honestly judge if any progress is being made AND WHY NOT. This should be the most important news story in Israel.
