1. Stop Building Settlements, Start Developing the Galilee
Eyal ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.07)
Yes, because of Israel's insane 40-year of building settlements, and devoting our limited resources to developing infastructure in areas (like Gaza) that could never become part of Israel, the Galilee and the Negev have been neglected and our Jewish majority in our own state is weakening. Condi, smack some sense into us!
2. Israel will have to give up the Galilee!
Mark ,   Boston   (12.12.07)
Israel can not have its cake and eat it too. Holding on to the West Bank has a price to pay. A smaller more secure Israel is a better Israel. The Arabs will be more willing to accept Israel as a Jewish state if Israel gives up more land.
3. Eyal: Why Don't YOU Move To The Galilee?
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (12.12.07)
I and my neighbors are helping strengthen this part of OUR land. You can go strengthen other parts. Or is that unreasonable?
4. Incompetent government
Resident of the Nort ,   Israel   (12.12.07)
Let's not forget the fact that the government was incapable of defending us in the last war just as they are incapable of defending sderot.
5. Number 1 you are talking nonsense
Gidi ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.07)
Didn't you read ? 80% live in central israel anyway, not in the "settlements". Jews should settle everywhere in their own land, which includes Gush Dan, Negev, Judea, Samaria AND Galilee. It's not for you to choose where they'll live, they're all equally important. Maybe if it wasn't dangerous because of Arabs, more people would live everywhere in Israel, and there's need for all that room if all the Jews make aliyah. Have some self dignity and respect. Judea needs more Jews too.
6. @ 3 and should AMerica withdraw from the So. border with
(12.12.07)
Mexico? You are obviously an enemy of Israel. A smaller Israel? Isn't it small enough for you now? Be honest, you want no Israelis in Israel. Think of the consequences if either America or Israel is overrun by terrorists. Go live in Gaza and THEN post another response. Smaller? Weaker? Non existant? Foolish reply, Mohammed.
7. 3#, Kohen let Eyal stay in Jerusalem
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (12.12.07)
Because not only is the Galilee demographics a problem yet so is Jerusalem. The number of Arabs in Jerusalem is also growing at a fast pace. With aliyah way down, emigration up, and 50,000 Jewish abortions a year it seems that the Jews even in Israel are self-destructing. A smart government could change all of this yet unfortunately our present government will not.
8. #1 is totally right
Secular Eagle   (12.12.07)
While we're pursuing the doomed squattlement enterprise in the damn territories, our country is falling apart. In the end we'll lose both the territories and the North.
9. #7 and demographics
English guy ,   London, UK   (12.12.07)
It must be so frightening for you to have such worries about the size of other peoples' families. Reminds me of 1930s Germans who were worried about the Jewish natural rate of increase. Strange parallels aren't they.
10. #5 and translation
English guy ,   London, UK   (12.12.07)
The content of your talkback translates quite eerily into the concept formerly known as Lebensraum.
11. 9#,English guy, you really can't see the difference?
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (12.12.07)
Let me try and explain it to you although I probally am just wasting my time. Six million Jews were murdered by the Germans and their friends. That was one third of world Jewry amd more than half of European Jews. Your country England prevented Jews from escaping to Palestine. Few countries wanted Jewish refugees. Now we have a Jewish homeland. There is ONLY one Jewish homeland yet there are 22 Arabs countries. This is why I am so concerned about demographics. Why can't you understand this? And why are you constanly sending emails attacking the Jewish state? I think the answer is quite obvious old chap.
12. # 7
(12.12.07)
Actually, the Germans were more concerned with "race-mixing" then demographics. Frightfully ignorant aren't you?
13. #11
English guy ,   London   (12.12.07)
Dear Golan Heights thief, For all your pilpul and twisting to try and justify Jewish/Zionist racism, you fail pitifully. This has nothing to do with England, nothing to do with Germany, but everything to do with a theocratic state trying to limit the natural growth of its non-Jewish citizens. As such, the parallel with the old racist states of Europe with their numerus clausus is quite strong. As such, the efforts of people like yourself to try and expel/limit the natural increase or control the demographics of the non-Jewish population is odious in the extreme and stinks of racial fascism. How does it feel living in a Syrian family's home?
14. English guy, I knew I was wasting my time
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (12.12.07)
Simply you want the only Jewish country to disappear. Then the next time some dictator decides to blame the Jews there will be once again nowhere for the Jews to go. For 2,000 years the Jews were persecuted when we did not have a country. What is your explanation for that? It really doesn't matter how many emails that you send. Israel will remain a Jewish country long after the likes of you are gone. As for me "living in a Syrian home" What nonsense! In fact I am living in a home close to ancient Kastrin. The Jews of Kastrin were expelled and killed by the Romans along with 20 other Jewish villages. The Jews at the time had very good relations with Lebanon and Syria trading olive oil with these countries. I am sure that you will quickly answer my email with more anti-Israel diatribe. I on the other hand need to continue treating my patients, half of whom are Druze. Unlike you my Druze patients are very happy that I live and work in the Golan.
15. Anybody notice the quote at the
Che Vive ,   Ghetto Beach, U.S.A.   (12.12.07)
end of the article, which said Israel needed to give up on "Judaization" in favor of "Globalization" of the Galilee? Anybody want to suggest what that might mean? I for one, take it to mean embracing non-Jewish citizens as equals of Jewish Israelis, and I fully support that notion. Time for secularization and universal equality for Israeli citizens. But I won't hold my breath. I know that people accustomed to being in charge don't give up their power over others easily, no matter who they may be.
16. #11 "English" guy
David ,   USA   (12.12.07)
Syria is a recent creation by the colonial powers. During the short time they occupied the Golan heights they used it to launch wars and terrorism against Israel. It was reclaimed by Israel in a defensive war. Thus, it does indeed "feel good " to have Jews living in this Israeli territory. You are living in England which has a long history of colonization and which has been built by robbing the resources of other nations. If you are indeed an "Englishman" then you are short sighted and a hypocrite.
17. #10 the difference
Gidi ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.07)
International Law dicates that Palestine Eretz Israel is the Jewish homeland. It was so decreed in the Balfur declaration and in the provisions of the mandate and the san remo conference. This is our homeland, not a colony. And we didn't attack anyone to get it either, the arabs attacked us. So, your translation is a bit off.
18. A highway and a train can bring many to Galil
Israeli ,   Galil   (12.12.07)
But highway 6 only goes up to Hadera, and a train to Afula is only a dream.
19. English Gay....
AJ ,   Washington, DC   (12.12.07)
Your comparisons to nazism are idiodic.
20. Jews are welcomed to come live in my hometown
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (12.12.07)
Instead of having segregated communities, all israelis, regardless of religion or ethnic background should be free to live anywhere in Israel.
21. @20
EA ,   USA   (12.23.07)
all Palestinians regardless of religion or ethnic background should be free to live anywhere in Israel also, after all it's their land.. Israel isn't written in stone..and it's legitimacy is still under question..' The English had no right to sign that Balfour. agreemet...it was a business deal to save the UK from losing WW1..Why should Palestine be 'war booty' for Zionists? The Golan is Syrian..and Israel has no right to that either...Does Israel have a 'right' to any of Palestine or Syria? I don't think so....
22. Losing the Galil while playing Caesar in the territories
Karen R ,   USA   (12.23.07)
This is what the government has been doing since Begin - losing what we've got because they want to play conqueror, "getting back" the West Bank and Gaza (which was never included in Shlomo Hamelech's kingdom anyway). So the Galil is declining - who cares? There's no publicity or self-congratulation in building up the country inside the Green Line. This shows the Right for what it really is - a bunch of grown-up kids playing king-of-the-mountain in a sandbox. Except....it's the Jewish State that's at stake.

Who should the Galaleee be given to ? Are you proposing another arab entitiy in the Galalee on top of the one they want in Judea & Samaria? The arabs will also never recognise Israel as long as it is a jewish state the concept it unacceptble they see Israel as part of an islamic waqf and it must be liberated for the muslims 2 states is stage 1 to greater things. Arafat called oslo a trojan horse to getting everything ( oslo was about getting a foot into the door ) once you make your first step your in a better position to move forward. Hamas see 2 states as stage 1 to greater things. The so called moderate Abbas says the palestians state will never recognise Israel as a jewish state. The arabs are now playing politics to try and look like the good guys in the eyes of the rest of the world prpeasure concesions out of Israel. They have been doing it well they havnt become accepting of Israels right to exist as a jewish state. As long as there is a jewish state it will never have peace with the arabs because they will never accept the idea of a jewish state.
24. Lets invest more into the Golan and the Galalee
zionist forever   (12.24.07)
The areas in the south where its so obvious that Israel doesnt have a hope in hell of holding onto long term invest that money in the Golan and the Galalee. With courage the Israeli government could stand up and say the Golan is ours forever and using demgraphics flood the place with jews making it practicly impossible to give away. The Galalee also that should be developed encourage industry because with industry comes jobs and workers. Jews need to populate all of Israel its the only way to avoid the creation of arab strongholds in certain regions. So lets have some more settlements in the JEWISH Galalee and JEWISH Golan.

After WW1 the Legue of Nations gave mandates to the British and French to divide up the Ottaman Empire. France was given mandates to create modern day Syia and Lebanon. The British had a manadate to create a jewish homeland in what at the time they called palestine. The Golan under the Legue of Nations Mandate given to the British and under the original Balfour Decleration was declared to be part of the jewish homeland. The British ILIIGALY traded it with France for one of the provinvces of what the Briitish eventualy turned into modern day Iraq. The French didnt know there was oil in the provinces, the British did so they did an illigal deal. The Rothschid family in the early 20th century bought thousands of dunams in the Golan for the jewish zionists so if we are talking about stolen land here its the arabs who have done all the stealing. What is today Jordan was origianly supposed to be part of the jewish homeland but the British decided to take 80% of the land promised to the jews import a Heshimite Prince from Saudi Arabia made him King Abdullah the first of Transjordan. Iraq again it was created by the British by importing Faisal of Mecca making him first king of Iraq. Israel is just as legitimate today as artiifical entities like Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria they were all created in the same way politicly by the same people. Israel today exists in artificial borders just like most the countries in the region but that doesnt mean Israels borders cannot change to include more historic jewish land there is no rule that says we must give the Golan or anything else to Syria thats assumption based on the failed land for peace idea. Even the original resolution 242 didnt demand Israel give any spesific amount of land to the arabs its a precident that was set with Sinia and Begin and the arabs have insisted on following and the west doesnt question their version be cause they dont want to upset the arabs wil all their oil. Other than things like oslo there are no rules that say we must create a palestian state thats an idea of Arafats formerl head of the PLO founded in 1964. In theory the future of Judea & Samaria is to be decided through negotiations beteween Israel and Jordan not palestians. As for the Galalee there needs to be more jewish business there to encourage jews from the cities like Tel Aviv which is allready overpopulated and to expensive to live for the average family. We need jews to move out make the jewish state a truly jewish state.
