Why in the first place were the 4 girls who were put in a separate class not allowed to go to municipal schools in the first place? I don't think the article earlier put on YNET addressed this question. That's the heart of the issue. They would not have had to go a private, religious school if they had been allowed to attend public schools. This would have cost the city much less than paying tuition plus cab fare. How sad.

I can tell you the unofficial history, but people one this site will simply label me anti-religious and defame me. Just as the Ashkenazim take only a token number of Sephardic students, neither the Sephardic schools nor the Ashkenazi schools are willing to accept Ethiopian kids, resulting in these ghetto schools we see today.
