if you look for something hard enough YOU WILL FIND IT but it shows the mindset when all you ever look for is evil I try to find friendly helpful people in every country I visit.....some are really dodgy places and full of crime...but I look for and FIND good people and am not affected by most of the bad stuff because I am not always looking for the negative aspects in life good things, like people come in all shapes sizes and colors
2. THIS IS A POLITICALLY CORRECT SHOW

3. Is racism one of our 613 Torah mitzvot that we must heed?
Joseph P. ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.07)
Racism, saying Hallel on Yom Ha'atzma'ut, democracy (that doesn't exist in the middle east at all, including Israel) are new mitzvot for certain people, but they're not part of our Torah and there's no obligation. Israelis should first keep the old traditional 613 commandment, that we, Jews, were commanded, then we'll look for new stuff.

The mayor of Pitach Tikva wants to meet the leaders of the protesters. He did nothing before this blow-p As with the corrupt olmert Ohayon wants only to talk and do nothing.Show the results before the talks. The Eyhiopean community shpuld cause as much trouble as possible for the Petach Tekva municipality.Block the schools.Block the roads to the municapal offices. In short cause as much hell as you get.
5. Jack #1: Hundreds is not insignificant.
Steve ,   Fla.   (12.12.07)
Are these Ethiopians (Falasha) legitimate Jews or not? Is there discrimination (racism) toward Black Jews in Israel or are these non-Jews that deserve discrimination and separation in schools, etc.? When I was in Israel in the early eighties, staying in yeshiva, I ate with Sephardic Jews. One young man asked why I ate with Sephardic Jews given the fact that Ashkenazi Jew ate separate from Sephardic Jews. What was that about? Why would Ashkenazi (European and American) Jews hold themselves aloof from Sephardic (Asian) Jews?
6. make no mistake, racism is well rooted in Israel
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (12.12.07)
First it was ok to hate arabs, then Ehtiopian (black jews), then haridi jews, etc... who's next?
7. Denial of their legitimacy is unmitigated irrelevance
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (12.12.07)
If we invited thugs and Israel-haters from the FSU on the questionable basis of G_d-know-what grand-whatever's maybe-connection to Judaism that he or she supposedly forfeited under the duress of anti-Semitism, WHERE DOES ANYONE GET OFF QUESTIONING THE FALASHMURA'S ENTITLEMENT? Just another example of how Soviet blunders are corroding our Jewishness.
8. YES, Joseph #3, NOT TO BE RACIST IS ONE OF 613!
Jonas ,   SAD   (12.12.07)
"Thou shall love your neightbour as you love yourself" If I remember correctly, that's HILLEL, as well as MAIMONIDES! And further more: there are numerous commentares that connect destruction of the 2nd temple to the HATE between neighbours. So, if you prey shahrit, amidah and arvit, consider this to in vane if you do not heed THIS comand, which Hillel himself used to describe the essence of Torah!
9. Steve #5, What a bigot and air head you are "are these
Rick ,   Chicago, USA   (12.12.07)
non-Jews that deserve discrimination and separation in schools.." Listed to yourself, retard..... AND YOU WONDER WHY THE WORLD HATES YOU?
10. Joseph, #3
Ephraim ,   Diaspora   (12.12.07)
Joseph: The 613 are not "old tradition", they are Mitzvot. I agree that they should be obeyed. If they are obeyed then there will be no racism.
11. The Question is:
Avi   (12.12.07)
Why in the first place were the 4 girls who were put in a separate class not allowed to go to municipal schools in the first place? I don't think the article earlier put on YNET addressed this question. That's the heart of the issue. They would not have had to go a private, religious school if they had been allowed to attend public schools. This would have cost the city much less than paying tuition plus cab fare. How sad.
12. Ethiopian discrimination
David Powell ,   Everett, Wa. USA   (12.12.07)
akin to discrimination and segregation of blacks in southern United States in the 1950's
13. #11and others - The reason for segregation
Yosef   (12.12.07)
I can tell you the unofficial history, but people one this site will simply label me anti-religious and defame me. The State wished to bring the Ethiopian Jews to Israel, but the Rabbinate did not recognize their Jewishness. A deal was reached between the two whereby Rabbi Amar would recognize the Ethipian Jews as Halakhic Jews, and in exchange the vast majority of Ethiopians would be sent to religious schools. If you heard the news in Israel today, a list was published of a significant number of schools in which Ethipians are well over 80% of enrollments - a reflection of the segregation that has been practiced in religious schools since their birth here in Israel. Just as the Ashkenazim take only a token number of Sephardic students, neither the Sephardic schools nor the Ashkenazi schools are willing to accept Ethiopian kids, resulting in these ghetto schools we see today. This country has no future if we continue down this path.
14. How are you going to win a war
Jad ,   Beirut   (12.12.07)
well discriminate against ethiopians and then use them for wars against hezbollah .... no wonder hezbollah won the war.... not to mention that they were much clever than your operational generals ...lol
15. #13
Avi   (12.13.07)
I see. And how much is all this going to cost the taxpayers? Not good. I don't understand why they also separate between Ashkenazic and Sephardic either. I see a big inefficiency here. Really, the split between the two should stay at the synagogue and not go to schools and other areas of life. So it turns out the Ethiopians are the latest to enter into a system that needs overhaul. Fast. We can't afford to have an underclass.
16. Demonstrations show lack of personal courage
marilyn   (12.13.07)
It is written that if" one despises a lowly one, then one despises his maker.' so racism is evil, however also the way one handles discrimination is also interesting. Marches and rallies and political correctness may change outward behavior, but it also builds resentment in others who were not originally racist. Also it shows lack of personal conviction, as one hides behind a crowd.Personally we have all tended to be in positions of being prejudiced against , for being a woman or being "religious' or color you name it, and I have found if you have a good relationship with God you can walk erect look anyone in the eye and leave all judging to God.

I like jews of all shades, and I have seen ethiopian decended jews serving well in the IDF as well as making a constructive contribution to Israeli society. My issue is that ynet has published about a dozen pieces so far....all showing no facts backing their case that jews are racists. All are allegations, unsupported ones at that. The writers have no problem defaming the school, and dont accept any responsibilty for their articles at all. They did NOT give both sides to the story, and have actively and repeatedly dafames the school and then manipulated others into making a big stink about it. I do not doubt that there are some bigots in the society, but I also believe (know) there have been a large number of people proffessing to be jews and coming to Israel under the right of return. Those people did a major disservice to the actual jews coming in with them. It is because now those same people have to deal with the pre judging that elements have formed. Anyone that wishes to follow the religion and traditions of old and actively tries to convert should be entitled to seek conversion. And they should be adopted into the faith....but the right of return indicates that they were here at one point in the past...hence the right to "return" lets not pretend that everyone that has come for economic reasons and do NOT follow the torah are legitimate returnees every ynet article in this thread is obviously biased. reread them if you dont think so
18. To the biggots who cry "Our Judaism"
Josh   (12.19.07)
Fact is Moses had a black wife and Miraim was turned white as snow by G-d for her racists comments. So any racism against Am Israel on the part of Israelis is worthy of being spat on. By being racists against the Ethipians, you insult G-d and Torah He has been very clear on the issue in the Miram story. If you haven't figured it out, Moses chose a black wife from the congregation of Hebrew converts (Am Israel) which were in the desert. For you were Gerreem in Mtzriam. G-d is also very clear on converts, and that is not converts as white Rabbis define but converts as Torah defines. By the way, Christians are fallen Jews, and those who are Christian that abandon the false prophet and Jesus and return to Hashem are not converts but returnees. So if the Falsa Murah are Jews who became Christians and now reject the false man G-d and return to Hashem, they are Jews. "you shall be as numerous as the stars" - tweleve tribes exists in disporah. "You shall work for the g-ds of others" curse fullflled by forced conversions to Christianity. But when will Israel be returned? As far as the treatment of the Ethipians in this country, it is deplorable. To treat those who love Hashem with such disrespect will only bring curses on us all. Integrate them as equals and lift them up to stand beside us and not put them below us. One law for all. The racism in Israel as well as the stealing, lying, dishonor, working on shabbat (or having one work for you - servers), barogus, and other "ours and yours" intimidation tactics must come to an end. There is no reward at the end of these routes. We must mature into being the light to all nations, not the plight of all nations which is the end reward for sinning. Morally corrupt deviant behavior will not be tolerated by G-d on his land this includes failing to honor parents and shabbat as well as partaking in magic incantations, astrology and objects. If we fail, He will promote our enemies high and demote us lower before He will flex on the rules. Grow up children of Israel. Get back in line. Back to the Torah Bpeh of Moses -read Torah and make it part of society. Else?! Enough of the chet "dog" talk that the Rabbi cultists added to Torah. This is really at the root of the whole Ethiopian situation is that Rabbis teach that they are Goyim and on the level of dogs. They are not Goyim but are part of the nation of Israel. Do you not recognize a cult tool when you see one. Unquestionable level from themselves and dog level for any detractor or non participant in they false cult teachings. Enough of the persecution of the innocent. The Rabbis are not prophets (not a sign or wonder amoung them), you shall not fear them. They are not Kohens or Levis, they have no authority. They were not chosen from amoung us, but rather from their own club. Restore our true judges and remove cultists. Judges make legal precident, cultists make false education, magic, power, and false laws. Restore judges from men chosen that have wisdom. ...and to the inhabitants in Petah Tikva and Israel - NO RACISM AGAINST BLACK, WHITE, ASIAN, etc. in ISRAEL. We are one people with one G-d. Get use to it. Stop trying to drive out the people G-d has returned that you decide you yourself dont want. It is not up to you. Don't test G-d's patience on this issue.
