DUCK, ANOTHER QASSAM ,   ..............DACON9   (12.12.07)
2. Thank you, General
Sidney ,   USA   (12.12.07)
It is good to know that there is still somebody in authority who cares about the Israeli people. When will the people of Israel rise in their wrath and get rid of this government of whores?
3. Talking Hamas To Death!
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (12.12.07)
Hamas will die of boredom listening to the talking heads in Israel babble about what they are going to do. Deal with the problem!!
4. Gaza operation unavoidable.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (12.12.07)
We seem to be doing a terrific job of avoiding it.
5. Warn, Threaten, Appease Restrain, Talk.
Joseph P. ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.07)
Talk, Talk, Talk. That's all this weak, cowardly government is capable of. The citizens of Israel will believe it when they see it. In the meantime, Israel is a mock to the rest of the world.
6. Lt. Gen. Ashkenazi ;-)
ben ,   singapore   (12.12.07)
The Holy One, blessed be He, says: "When anguish comes upon the children of Israel and they call upon Me, they should make themselves partners with My glory and I shall answer them immediately." Thus it is written, "He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him, I am with him in distress" (Psalms 91:15).
7. Control?
Rowan ,   London   (12.12.07)
Israel has been in control (military occupation) since 1967. If control is such a vital strategy, why has it not payed dividends?
8. I would cut COMPLETELY their energy suplying
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (12.12.07)
and observe what happens with such a measure. The parameters must change. If Israel, despite all screamings, cut completely their energy,a new situation will come.Maybe they leave to somewhere else;maybe the neighbouring countries get more ungry and want to attack more;I don't know...But things should change. Another possibility is taking over Gaza again, and sending all its habitants to WB.Maybe they will feel so crowded that they will decide to leave to somewhere else.Suffering, sometimes, makes miracles! But I ask:Does Israel really wants to win this war once and for all? If yes, put(government) the brains to function in this direction and resolv this once and for all. The only thing I know is that the land protects its people, and no more land should be given away, but what was given away should be recuperated. A decisive attitute by Israel to resolv its problems would lead to a new path. But once again:Does the present government really wish that?
9. The General's Warning
Brod ,   USA   (12.12.07)
The General knows what he is talking about. A General who expects enemies coming from all directions and is prepared to deal with them will defeat the enemies decisively. Politicians should listen to and take the advice of this General. He knows how to defeat and deter Israell's enemies. It is time the people listen to the General. In challenging times and in War, the General is the Leader of the Nation.
10. Road Map leads to hell
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.12.07)
You trustren in the U.S. agenda which has only weakened and endangerd you. Cut off the cancer of Bush's Road Map on Israel before it destroys you.
11. All Talk, No Action!
Louis ,   USA   (12.12.07)
Ashkenazi was supposed to be a great soldier. It seems he's really just another boring and inane mouthpiece for the Olmert crew. If the top Israeli general isn't willing to defend his country, then why should anyone care about Israel? If Israel only wants to appease its enemies, then it's lost as a nation.
12. By not taking action, government is sanctioning the qassams
Laila ,   Manchester   (12.12.07)
When will the Israeli government put the safety and security of Israelis as priority OVER the two-faced Palestinians?
13. Ashchanasi
Earnest Siegel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.12.07)
When do we stop hiding--thank God for people like him who can think. When do we stop whining . Let our generals ffuncttion properly and stop kissing the US State departments behind.!!!!
14. Rowan must have been asleep during 2005
Phil ,   Washington DC   (12.12.07)
The reason things aren't under control is because Israel pulled out two years ago. The west bank is under control because Israel is still there. Where do you get your info from?
15. this government and chief of staff impotent - resign
Guy   (12.12.07)
16. isreal will win
anthony williams ,   bremerton usa   (12.12.07)

17. tail waging the dog
howard ,   tel aviv   (12.12.07)
Ashkenasi: ""You cannot defeat a terror organization without eventually taking control of the territory," he said, "the only reason we have been successful in Judea and Samaria is because we control the area." Then why did we leave Gaza unilaterally?????
18. Re: Turn Gaza into a parking lot !!!
jason asman ,   boston U.S.A.   (12.12.07)
19. Desperate Times Call For A Radical Change In Tactics.
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (12.12.07)
For heavens sake, stop yapping and START attacking. The military are beginning to sound like whining yentas who only complain, but do nothing to improve the security situation. While the Arabs laugh their behinds off, the Jews are being terrorized. Sound bites WON"T stop the rockets, nor will limited forays into the Strip. The rockets are coming from a small portion of the strip, simply because that is where they can cause the maximum damage from. Surely the IDF/IAF could WIPE out the area if they were ordered to. And THAT is precisely the problem. The political gangsters would rather their citizens cower in fear because they are playing footsie with the enemy. Band aid approaches don't work with fanatically driven jihadists. You don't cure terminal cancer with doses of aspirin. The option left now is for Ashkenazi to do what he knows to be correct militarily - the politicians be damned. Sometimes the ONLY way to save ones people is to have an otherwise (dreaded) military coup. Once the terror nest is neutralized elections can ensue.
20. well spoken, General
Cameron ,   USA   (12.12.07)
The best defence is always to take the offensive. Being reticent has gained Israel nothing but daily bombardment. As always, the only quality your enemies really respect is the heavy hand.
21. WELL........................................................
AVROHOM BILGREI   (12.12.07)
DUUUUHH!!!!!!! LET'S NOT FORGET WHO HE'S SUBORDINATE TO. FORGET AGENDA-BE SUCKERED !
22. Gaza Operation is AVOIDABLE !!!
Ali ,   Gaza   (12.12.07)
Open gaza for life ..Stop this closure and siege ..Let the people of Gaza live and work .. Otherwise don't expect a victim with no finger nails !!!.
23. annother idiot general telling the enemy how to defeat us
zionist forever   (12.12.07)
SO LONG AS THERE ARE ROCKETS FALLING ON HOMES IN ISRAEL WE CANNOT WIN THE WAR. This is one of the stupidest comments made by a chief of staff to make a statement saying we cant win the war if there are rockets falling on Israel. What surer way is there for the enemies to increase the capability of their rockets and use them when you saying what tactics the enemy should use if they want to defeat Israel. Also saying that Quassam attacks on Israel may force the IDF to launch a large scale operation in the strip. Talking about it more and making it sound more and more certain only encourages Hamas to prepare for a millitary offensive. The smart move would be to say nothing then when they are not expecting it you launch the millitary operation. What is it with Israeli politicians and millitary leaders going public before the operations what they are planning to do .. having the best weapons are useless if you tell your enemy your tactics before the war starts.
24. 8
zionist forever   (12.12.07)
The palestians could be threateing with neuclear weapons but even if the millitary said that cutting the power in full would stop them using their nuke the Israeli courts and the left wing politicly correct politicians who are more interested in humanitarian needs of the enemy than defense of the coutry would make sure that the power wasnt cut. Israels worst enemies are the do gooders who feel that its Israels job to make sure the enemies are not affected to much by any Israeli retaliation to attacks.
25. zionist forever
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (12.12.07)
Yes,you are right. But,G'od willing ,this will change, and hopefully soon.

27. Rowan #7 What on earth could you possibly mean (end)
mike ,   seattle   (12.12.07)
28. Daaaa
Scott ,   Haifa   (12.12.07)
Maybe stop giving them back the land to launch rockets? This government should have never kicked the settlers out of Gaza.
29. Quassams
JJM ,   Syracuse, USA   (12.12.07)
I am saddened.....the political and military establishment in Israel just can't seem to do the "ugly, un-Jewish, despicable, fascisto thing"...like protect it's own population....shame.....It's dehumanizing to have to listen to the Israeli politicians and generals run their mouths......I am tired of all these folks....maybe the "quassam rain" is what they deserve.
30. 24 get treatment for your paranoia
Shir ,   Finland   (12.12.07)
"The palestians could be threateing with neuclear weapons" Oh really? Seriously, you are weird and incomprehensible. You are ranting and raving about Palestinians who are no serious threat. When it´s about Iran, who is a real danger, you stay quiet. And now you claim the Palestinians might have nuclear weapons. Not that the leftists have done any good, but just as bad are these cold, calculative, but yet cowardice and wimpy Zionists, who take their aggression of Palestinians instead of the true enemy. (who they are afraid of)
