1. needle in a haystack
ed ,   london UK   (12.20.07)
if your life depends on it, then set fire to the haystack. Problem is, the political elite in Israel care not for Sderot and poor Jewish residents of the western negev. J'accuse - the israeli leadership of negligence and surrender, as well as cowardice.
2. Brig.-Gen.Yuval Halamish
ben ,   singapore   (12.20.07)
IDIOT ! you better resign from the IDF !
3. to #1
Belal ,   Atlanta USA   (12.20.07)
setting fire will not end the conflict just like previous fires. I have a better idea, stop stealing land and building settlements, also return stolen land back. then we may start seeing a better quality of life in that area.
4. #2 is correct
yosef ,   israel   (12.20.07)
General Halamish has forgotten what every Israeli soldier knows: There is no such thing as "I can't" only "I won't". Two ideas for Halamish: a) prevent the Arabs from having the raw materials to build Kassams: Take over Philadelphi like before the expulsion from Gush Katif. b) prevent Arabs from being in range of Sderot: rebuild Gush Katif.
5. To #3

Your idea didn't work in the past... learn history. In 1948 there were no territories! did this prevent Arabs attacking the jewish state ? In the 1950s , long before 1967 war, there wrer daily incursion of terrorists from Gaza and the west bank, Just to remind you that at the time Egypt was the ruler in Gazam and Jordan ruled the west Bank ! So, you do believe now that Hamas, who are openly preach for the destruction of Israel, will change its spots ? and what lands are you refering to in Gaza??? Israel left Gaza more than 2 years ago
6. BOMB THE HELL OUT OF THEM FROM THE AIR
Bob Kranish ,   Jerusalem Israel   (12.20.07)
The Rabbis were right - you are puting our young soldiers' lives at risk, and waiting for the population to be killed - so do what they say and bomb the hell out of them from the air.
7. IDF no longer permitted Victory
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.20.07)
The agenda of the fake peace Road Map is to restrain Israel from any real voctory over an Arab armies ever again. The second lebanon war was an example of this as hizbollah was not defeated and the US rushed in a ceasefire with France just as the IDF was getting the upper hand. This is the same hamstringing of the IDF by Bush in Gaza with limited operatioins. Israel, Better remove the cursed yoke of US control, and domination which leads to your second holocaust and not peace.

9. Fire Halamish
Sidney ,   USA   (12.20.07)
A healthy Ariel Sharon would have solved this problem. Halamish admits that he is not up to his job. No other country would tolerate daily rocket attacks on its citizens.

Also, stop strangling the economy, stop killing Palestinians, stop the road blocks, stop the illegal settlements and then the quality of life improves and then the militants power is eroded
11. For Every Kassam Fired At Us...
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (12.20.07)
Take down 10 of their buildings. Just bomb 'em, bomb 'em and when you are through, bomb 'em again. Give them no rest, fire at them randomly and at random times. And when you are finished with that, bomb 'em again.

And before 1947 there was no Islamic Jihad, no Hamas, no Hizbollah . . . . . wonder why?

Squalid Ibn Harman ,   Qtir   (12.20.07)
#3 Belal - Nothing less than our destruction will satisfy HAMAS, PRC, IJ, and El Aqsa. Therefore the only option we have is the total destruction of Gaza. BURN THE HAYSTACK

Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (12.20.07)
It's true that there is no simple military solution to the problem of terrorism from Gaza, particularly as the international community has recently signalled its intention to pour endless billions of dollars into the terrorist infrastructure. Personally I'm not too keen on a ground invasion now because this would lead to serious IDF casualties. Of course it's obvious that if Israel were to invade, this should have been done some while ago, as the terrorist organisations are now much stronger in terms of infrastructure, weapons build-up, training from Iran, etc. I would first like to see Israel ceasing to be the conduit for supplies to Gaza. It has no obligation whatsoever to supply Gazan residents with goods which can perfectly well be brought in from Egypt or along Gaza's coastline. Except in the perverted "morality" which applies only to Israel , it would be considered the height of madness to keep suppling one's enemies.

You should try telling that to the 18 plus people, including the 10 schoolchildren who were treated for shock today. If one or more of these rockets kill 10 people will it still be a "bogus" rocket or "bogus" attack then? Your the one who doesn't care about facts, all you and other antisemities who come here and post are interested in is making Israel the one *Jewish* nation in the world look as bad as possible

Henrietta Fore, director of US Foreign Assistance, stressed the importance of the aid to the PA in an interview with The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday. Asked whether, in light of past experience with the PA, she was concerned that the money would not go toward its goals but rather be either siphoned off by corrupt politicians or used for terrorist purposes, Fore said, "The Palestinians have put forth a Palestine reform and development program that looks solid and realistic, and looks focused on what we think are the right development priorities. So we think they will utilize the funds well for the Palestinian people." The most ambitious fundraising effort in more than a decade is aimed at helping the Palestinians to create a viable, peaceful and secure state of their own, and to promote new peace talks beginning with Israel.
23. Needle in haystack-same comment given during war in north
Sam ,   Canada   (12.20.07)
There are no missiles coming in from Hezbollah in the north. It's not because Israel found all the Hezbollah missiles. It's because Israel made it clear to Lebanon that the consequences of firing missiles at Israel were not worth it. If the Palestinians in Gaza are still firing missiles it's because the present Israeli retaliation is considered by them tolerable.
24. #19 Blockade
Richard ,   London UK   (12.20.07)
Israel's latest blockade of Gaza is threatening to destroy the territory's commercial sector and drive more people into the hands of extremists, according to a report published recently (By Gisha) In the last three weeks, 75% of Gaza's factories have closed because they are not allowed to import raw material or export finished products, forcing thousands of families to rely on food aid to survive. Sari Bashi, director of Gisha, said the impoverishment of Gaza was strengthening extremists at the expense of moderates. "Israel is attempting to achieve political objectives by exerting pressure on 1.4 million women, men and children, whose suffering is supposed to bring about the change it wants - toppling Hamas control in Gaza," she said. "In reality, a policy of collective punishment is being imposed upon 1.4 million people, in violation of international humanitarian law and contradictory to Israel's interest. Destroying Gaza's economy only exacerbates dependence on extreme elements." In a further blow to the Gazan economy Unrwa and the UN Development Programme announced the suspension of all construction projects because Israel will not allow the import of cement. The projects are worth about $80m (£40m) and employ hundreds of people. The works include the construction of homes, health centres and sewage works

When you give your land back to the Native Americans from whom it was stolen from, then you can approach Israel about giving its ancestral land to a population that moved to there while the Jews were expelled from various lands. BTW - they won't listen to you anyway because you don't know Jack**** about Israel.

The international community pledged an unprecedented $5.6bn (£2.75bn) to the Palestinian Authority over the next three years. This money is supposed to support the political process begun last month at Annapolis: the return to peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. But although the sums of money on offer are formidable, little is likely to trickle down to the most vulnerable Palestinians. The World Bank has warned that unless Israeli closures and checkpoints are lifted the money will only slow a "downward cycle of crisis and dependence". So far about $10bn has been given to the Palestinians since 1993, but poverty and unemployment have only increased, the result of poor management, continued conflict with Israel and the occupation. The crisis in Jiftlik is stark. The village sits in the Jordan valley, one of the most fertile regions of the West Bank, where the warm winter sun provides unusually long planting seasons and high-quality crops. Jewish settlers run large farms which dominate huge tracts of the Jordan valley and are thriving. The Palestinians, whose land is shrinking, struggle to survive. Jiftlik, home to 5,500 Palestinians, is surrounded by settlements, Israeli military bases, nature reserves and roads set aside mostly for Israeli-owned cars only. The past 40 years of occupation have swallowed most of their grazing and farmland, and the farmers describe constant harassment from Israeli soldiers. Many farmers live in tents because it is almost impossible to get an Israeli permit to build a house; in 2005 and 2006 the Israelis demolished 24 homes and structures there. Only a quarter of the residents are connected to the electricity and water network. The entire village is in Area C, the large swath of the West Bank that is entirely under Israeli military and administrative control

Option #1 continue the weak and ineffective Olmert policies, Option #2 for every Qassam fired at an Israeli town, fire two missles indescriminently into Gaza. After a couple of days, the violence will stop. If these Koranimals want to play, give 'em back twice the fun! Bullies can't be appeased.
