31. #19 - Gabriela - I have alot of respect for you, but....
AJ ,   Washington, DC   (12.21.07)
The only ones to feel sorry for are children who do not have loving parents. There are so many children in so-called "normal" homes who are neglected and abused, those are the children to feel sorry for. Ok, there is societal pressure in Israel that will be tough to deal with for children with gay parents. But there are SO MANY loving gay people who can provide wonderful, Jewish homes for children who otherwise would have so much of NOTHING (no education, no affection, no attention, no proper nutrition, no adequate clothing, no values, no encouragement), these children will benefit from this immensely and the benefits far outweigh the societal pressure and judgments. And they can go on to change the world for the better - this kind of adoption is really is an exercise in tikkun olam. If you had a gay son or daughter, and they adoped a baby, I bet you would be a fantastic grandma to that child all the same. Because you have values and a good heart. That's what kids need. From your talkbacks I have come to respect your views on alot of things even when we don't agree. Please challenge your biases on this issue, dear. Shabbat shalom.
32. Everyone has the right to have children
Common Sense   (12.21.07)
As long as they can breed their own. No one has the right to claim OTHER PEOPLE'S children.
33. There is not a huge population of homeless children
sarah ,   Toronto, Canada   (12.21.07)
The number of infertile, childless-but through no fault of their own heterosexual couples who are waiting to adopt is much greater than the number of children who are available for adoption. Two homosexual partners can not make a child on their own, this is not because of "infertility" but because of their own selfish conduct.
34. Gay families and adoption
SteveMD2 ,   usa   (12.23.07)
I'm glad you are supporting Israeli gay families, in their quest for equality. When my distant cousins went up hitlers smokestacks, mixed with their ashes were those of Gernany's gays, another group that madman considered as less then human. All over the world, gay people are gaining rights equal or similar to marriage, especially in almost every western European country, Israel, RSA, New Zealand, Canada, Uraguay, and parts of Mexico and Argentina. The position of the Shas on this subject reminds me of what we have from the right wing Christians here in the USA - what might be described as a filthy religious hatred. We have a saying here "if the shoe fits, wear it, and regarding the Shas and gay Israelis the shoe certainly does fit. Shame Shame Shame
35. So many homophobes here!
Petra ,   usa   (12.23.07)
Similar to all the Anti Semites. Hatred isn't pretty, no matter from whom it comes. Unless one adopts, what good is their opinion? We adopted our granddaughter, it's hard tiring work. Unless one is the solution to the problem, they ARE the problem Put up or shut up. Bet the adopted kids love their parents, gay, straight or eunuch. Pedophiles are usually family members who prey on kids. Their own fathers, grandfathers, cousins, uncles, all STRAIGHT. The haters on this board remind me of anti semitics, they just hate gays instead of Jews.
36. if you compare anti-semitists and anti-pervert people
Shir   (12.23.07)
then you suggest that it is the same thing to be a Jew and Gay. How insulting!!!! Stupid woman
37. # 18 M. Hartley Amen Lady Amen!!!
Petra ,   usa   (12.23.07)
Love is blind.
38. # 27 Dave, Don't forget the pedophile priests!
Petra ,   usa   (12.23.07)
A bit of democracy here, please.
39. # 33 sarah ironically the infertile
Petra ,   usa   (12.23.07)
and gays share the same experience. Maybe G-ds small universal joke on both gays and 'straights'? I know you didn't mean to be funny but, sometimes it just comes out that way. Shalom
40. Orthodox commentators
Gilad -NOT the rabbi ,   London UK   (12.23.07)
I love it. EVERY TIME a non-orthodox rabbi (who represent over 50% of Jews worldwide I add) make any comment, regardless of what it is, you get contributers who instead of discussing the writers ideas IMMEDIATELY write "HE IS NOT A RABBI" and similar. And "My 8 year old daughter knows the torah better". Really silly messages. They have no idea about how much he does/doesn't know the torah. They have a whole bunch of haredi Rabbis or orthodox rabbis they dislike for their views (e.g. on womens roles for example - like one rabbi who said women put on perfume because they smell rotten because they were made out of adams ribs and ribs rot. Nice orthodox (or haredi? Don't remember which) rabbi), but they are still "rabbis" because they are orthodox, yet if you say you are not you are nothing, even if over 50% of Jews worldwide are members of your congregation or similar. Archeological research (physical findings) show that men and women were not originally seperated except in very specific instances when in prayer. Yet today the orthodox seperate and see non-seperation as heresy. I suppose if we built a time machine they would go back and tell the "chachamim" they are heretics. Then they come and attack others (over and over) with the tired abused comment of "The torah doesn't change because you did". Lame. Maybe you guys can grow up, get a backbone and be factual if you disagree rather than make unintelligent childish comments about Jewish movements much bigger than your own. Less pointless nonsense, more facts. Disprove his ideas if you feel you are able to, but stop being such babies with "He's NOT A RABBI" as if that means you don't have to listen. You guys arn't rabbis either, you are just orthodox/haredi. So maybe nobody should listen to you since apparently not rabbi = not worth listening to according to your comments. Thanks for reading.. haha
41. going with the flow
Shir   (12.23.07)
It is trendy nowadays to be "tolerant" of all kinds of deviants. Many people just go with the flow, try to be as "tolerant" as possible to please others and to appear as a good people. Few have the guts to state facts. Part of homosexual agenda is to affirm their lifestyle, desensitize the public, and turn people away from religion. It seems hard for some people to resist this. But people who abandon traditions, morals and values and use religion to further propagate their liberal agenda will be punished.
42. #41. Shir is the only one who makes sense.
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (12.24.07)
Thanks for explaining in simple terms what is wrong. I live where the GLBT agenda is strong. Massachusetts is the only state that has legal gay marriage. The schools in many towns are filled with GLBT indoctrination. It's a sick state of affairs, but it's all part of a trend to moral decay in many ways that will eventually destroy itself. But, for rational and moral people, it's very frustrating to watch it now, and to receive the blatant intolerance and hatred of the left wing sicko crowd.
