4. Waving the white flag - been there, done that...yawn
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (12.21.07)
"Hamas truce proposal " Such pathetic proposals come ONLY whenever the terrorists face a stepped-up IDF ops. These murderers have proven to use "truce" to regroup and relauch terror acts. Stick to your current correct policy, IDF. Review - NOT complete halt - only when the hamas terrorists OFFICIALLY declare they recognise Israel and renounce AND stop terror.
5. I see the Annapolis peace talks
Che Vive ,   Ghetto Beach, U.S.A.   (12.21.07)
have been a stunning success. Is President Bush on his way to personally supervise the carnage, or just to loot spare change from the pockets of the dead? Well, this has been expected for some time... despite the "peace" talks. Another day, another several deaths, ad infinitum, ad nauseam. I wonder which will make me sicker in the coming months, the many needless deaths or the exasperating lies of politicians claiming to desire peace when they subvert it at every opportunity?
6. Indeed, #1.
Cameron ,   USA   (12.21.07)
Those muttering iIslamic sura's while working to inflict murder & mayhem on others, had the sword's edge dropped on their own neck. They let their heart, instead of their head, guide their actions and paid the typical ME price. Balance
7. Good job IDF! Keep up the pressure!
RA   (12.21.07)
8. No magic solution???
Jeffrey ,   Boston, USA   (12.21.07)
Eliminating 20 terrorist scum a week is better than slight of hand. It's beautiful magic!!! Keep it up IDF. Hamas will come begging on their knees for a cease fire soon enough.
9. keep going IDF until they hand back Shalit (the end)
andrew ,   Melbourne, Australia   (12.21.07)
10. Complete agreement with # 1
gary ,   bass lake,ca. usa   (12.21.07)
Plenty of us here in the U.S. that admire your tenacity + courage! Don't let up on the terrorist scum!
11. Solution to Gaza problem
Alex ,   LA, USA   (12.21.07)
Since, now, everyone agrees that disengagement was a terrible mistake, Israel should send soldiers and policemen, that were used to remove Jews from Gaza, back to Gaza. Israel should order these solders/policemen to move into Gaza and fight Hamas.
12. ramon
geroge   (12.21.07)
can this man just shut up. No one wants to hear him. his credibility is 0.
13. IDF, Next week 40 until they beg us to take Shalit back
Squalid Ibn Harman   (12.21.07)
14. They wont shoot, we wont shoot.
Steve ,   UK   (12.21.07)
Why is this concept so difficult? Unless they want the shooting to continue for some nefarious purpose...
15. Kal HaKavod & Shabbat Shalom
Russel ,   Tlv   (12.21.07)
Well done guys! While I would like peace with the "P's" I'm pleased to see we are taking action against these terr's.
16. Make us proud!
Moshe ,   Israel   (12.21.07)
We are proud of your bravery, make us proud!
17. Love the phrase 'Army Confident'
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (12.21.07)
Like on Yom Kippur 1971 and Lebanon in 2006. About the only thing the IDF can be confident of is its ability to abuse the civilian population of Palestine, degrade prisoners, buldoze homes.. (..oh and maybe affix a mezuzor on the wall without hitting their thumb)
18. IDF needs to complete the job!
Dov ,   Zichron Ya'akov   (12.21.07)
It sounds like we're going back to a reacting strategy rather than a preemptive one. No ceasefire negotiations or truce! Can we learn from our mistakes? The terrorists just want to rearm. The only solution is to decapitate the Hamas leadership once and for all, including all militant wings. Once this is done, the PA can then take control of the strip and the so called peace negotiations with Abbas can resume.
19. #17, a military historian genius speaks again
Danny   (12.21.07)
Erm you mean Yom Kippur 1973? This would be the war that despite a 10-1 initial superiority on two fronts, complete strategic surprise, ended with the Syrian invading army completely annihilated and the two Egyptian armies completely cut off? Because in most cases thats called "victory". Hizbollah was so successful in the 2006 war that Israel has had the quietest year on it's northern border in over three decades. Of course the IDF cannot match the percentage of civilian targets hit by Qassams - 99.9% - or Hizbollah rockets - 99.98%. We have over the last week only manage a mere 0%.
20. Steve why do you say "we"
Shir ,   Finland   (12.21.07)
You´re shooting all the way from Britain?
21. To #17
Ted ,   UK   (12.21.07)
Based on your attitude you expect the Israeli people to consider Qasams and Morter shells as flowers and sweets thrown at them. I would expect someone from London to display less ignorance...
22. #20, think he is quoting from the article
Danny   (12.21.07)
or maybe he is a reservist? Anyway, given the number of bonkers posts from people like Richard, English Guy, Chanalulu and invicta maybe the lead piping in London... Chanalulu comes from the Hizbollah school of accounting where 20 dead "militants" magically become innocent civilians.
23. quotation marks exist for citations
Shir   (12.21.07)
24. #23, maybe but it is in the article
Danny   (12.21.07)
and it is a concept some people seem to have difficulty getting their heads round....
25. Chanalau..back to the kitchen!! silly girl.
Richard ,   London,UK   (12.21.07)
Good girl...now make the men some tea.and read some history books.
26. #19 Correct: Israel's military disaster was Oct 1973 not '71
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (12.21.07)
However Israel's over confidence was no less two years prior to the war than it was in '73. And I seem to recall a Sunday Times interview circa 1971 in which Ariel Sharon was claiming Israel to be strong enough to take over the whole middle east - from Iraq to the Med. Today however the IDF is in a similar state to the general who made those claims, one whose cv contains such notable highlights as Qibia, Sabra and Chatilla to mention but a few. With the IDF's recent illustrious string of victories against the overwhelming forces of unarmed women and children in the battlefields Ramallah, Jenin, Rafah . . .what earthly enemy couldn't it defeat?
27. I don´t like the guy anyways
Shir   (12.21.07)
The way he pleases Iranians and goes around saying all countries respect Iran tells me he is a traitor. His words are insult to those who truly are friends of Israel, not Iran. You can´t be a friend of both, simply because Iran is the arch enemy of Israel. In Finland nobody thinks Iranians are somehow special or particurarly intelligent etc. If Britons do, well thats their problem then.
28. #26, is this one of the imaginary interviews
Danny   (12.21.07)
That Israelis seem to give so many of? This is one of the oldest lies in the book, that Israel wants to conquer land from the Nile to Euphrates. As for 1973, Israel might have been fooled by the deception plan by the Syrians and Egyptians but it ended up being a massive victory for Israel, I would say a greater victory than 1967. Despite that, the arabs claimed it as a victory just like 2006 and 2005 because that is pretty much the only thing arabs are good at when it comes to fighting - claiming victory. Al-Qaeda has claimed victory in Iraq a number of times now. The Egyptians apparently beat us in 1956 and 1973. There is a 1973 victory museum in Damascus and I am sure there is a similar thing in Lebanon. The fact remains Hamas is the one begging for a ceasefire and Hizbollah were the ones wanting a ceasefire last year. Sound like people who are winning?
29. Good work IDF, but...
Judith ,   Winnipeg Canada   (12.21.07)
...the rockets are still falling. The fact that they are asking for a truce is a good sign, but you haven't killed enough of them until the rockets stop falling on Sderot. Keep killing.
30. Good job
Moshe ,   Israel   (12.22.07)
We gotta keep killing those terrorists untill they come on theyre knees and beg for a ceasefire.
