The problem is that Christians are guaranteed at least 50% of the seats in parliament even though they are no more than 40% of the population (2006 CIA estimate -- 1986 CIA estimate had them only 25%). According to the 1989 peace agreement that ended the civil war, all Lebanese were supposed to work toward eliminating the religious preferences but, IN ALMOST 20 YEARS, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO MAKE LEBANON'S POLITICAL SYSTEM FAIR AND EQUAL FOR ALL ITS PEOPLE.. That's what this is all about: fairness and equality for ALL Lebanese.
