It was obvious (to me) when she made her recent return to Pakistan that she would eventually be targeted and killed - she was greeted by a horrific explosion that killed 150 or more of her followers. She was a beautiful, well learned woman - I'm saddened by this news. What a waste !

The Pakistani conviction was overturned by an even more corrupt Supreme Court, which among its many dubious claims to fame has been stating that the democratically re-elected President Musharrif could take office because he was wearing a military uniform. The Pakistani courts have upheld ritual family rape of women who have been raped. Pakistani courts demand that being gay is punishable by death. These are great people, folks! Butto's current title, up until this AM was "chairperson for life" of the opposition Pakistan Peoples Party. Great credentials for this martyred scion of Democracy! Musharrif may be no angel, but he is staunchly anti Al Qaida and pro American, and is facing down a horrendously violent nation of total lunatics. Benazir Butto opposed him every step of the way, and was lining her pockets at the same time. She deserves no accolades or sympathy. Bury her quickly, and may she rest in peace. But please don't try to convince me of her greatness. Then again, she sounds like prime Nobel Peace Prize material for this day and age.

She also stated an infinite number of times in her speeches and writings that Zionism was created for the sole purpose of excusing Jews from illegally obtaining "Palestine" and conducting massacres against Palestinians to retain the land, even as she smiled holding hands with Israeli political leaders. So think twice before you mourn the death of Bhutto.

She was PM of Pakistan twice and both times the masses rose to vomit her out before her term expired as she was inapt, very corrupt, and repressive - both times she left the country with billions in her pocket. Her husband was convicted of of defrauding the nation of billions and he was not elected. She made many enemies in a very male dominated society. Radicals may not have done this but rather religious conservatives or any of the many enemies she made. Her winning a 3rd time as PM was by no means sure. Her PPP Pakistan People Party has had many leaders thrown out of office. Ben Ladan followers strong in NWFP - many groups there must be glad she is gone. It is a volatile "country" for Muslims only.
