without security checks-how do you knpw they are only pilgrims?
2. Egypt border
Moshe ,   LA, USA   (01.02.08)
Well, if Egypt can let 1000 people into Gaza, they can certainly supply energy, and food to Gaza and allow people to go to Eqypt for medical care. Now, finally, and hopefully the world will get of Israel's case for, in the face of terror, wanting to withholding these things through its border, and instead get on Egypt's case for not helping the people of Gaza.
3. #1
Invicta ,   Europa   (01.02.08)
Because not all Palestinians are 'terrorists'. Some would argue non are. Also there is blurring around the label 'terrorist' - 'militant'.
4. boy those egyptians sure are trustworthy!
aaron ,   ra'anana   (01.02.08)
5. Olmert & Bush should visit Gaza
Marina ,   Tel Aviv   (01.02.08)
To view the real Peace, they should visit Gaza and look at the future of their hard work.
6. Now open up for fuel, energy, imports & exports
Futura ,   Sweden   (01.02.08)
Israel cant bee the only supplyer, selling exensive fuel & energy! Open up for competion! Let the goods move and get Gaza economy running. Keep the gazans busy making money instead of rockets and violence. Free trade! Prosperity! Peace!
7. #2 Moshe, oh how I wish you were right.
Khalid ,   Gaza City   (01.02.08)
But you're wrong. Didn't you see all that happened before Egypt decided to open the border for just a couple hours?? Israel will not allow Egypt to keep the border open (like every other single border in the entire world), and so the people of Gaza will have to continue smuggling food and medical supplies through tunnels. So until the border remains open, we will stay on Israel's case.

marv   (01.02.08)
So much for barak's arrangement with egypt where mubarak spat in his face. With barak, what do you see---withdrawal from lebanon, camp david bust, lack of response to PLO terror adn now egypt. barak has been good on covert missions and should stick to it. Negotiations should be handled by a tough israeli. it looks like israel will throw out olmert, and netanyahu wil be PM with yaalon as defence minister. Uzi landau would be a good negotiator.
9. Israel is beyond pathetic.
JJohnson ,   Turks & Caicos   (01.02.08)
Still pimping the whole Iran TERROR thingy I see. "They went to Iran!!" "For training!!!" They've only been gone a few days. How much 'training' can you get in a few days? And why would they have to go to Iran? Can't the 'terrorists' just train at home? Like the Irgun and Stern boys used to do? Pathetic....
10. Israel to blame
lemar ,   uk   (01.02.08)
Stupid Israel gave up the Philidelphia corridor. Did they ever believe Egypt would police the border so becoming Israels friend. Your leaders are Morons unilaterally withdrawing from Lebanon and Gaza. There is much worse to follow because of your stupidity
11. Retaliation??
Natan ,   USA   (01.02.08)
Could this be the retaliation the Egyptians were talking about for Livni's remarks ???
12. Open Borders
jusa ,   US   (01.02.08)
What a world I live in. I cannot travel anywhere; Canada, Mexico, the UK without a passport, search, and customs declaration. But somehow the palestinians can make an international pity sob story because they have to do what the whole world does. And then gets away with it, with KNOWN terrorist and money smuggling. Guess what the criminal penalty is for smuggling money into and out of the USA!?!? I'm sick of the special treatment and pity cries for things the whole world has to cope with. Did these people have to do anything to get INTO Egypt in the first place too? As a transient traveler.
13. wonderful !!! Sieze the opportunity !
Shira   (01.02.08)
Since the border btw Gaza and Egypt does not realy exist and the Egyptians are treating the Palestinians like citizens of Egypt, we should quickly shove Gaza up their butts and get rid of this hornet nest(Gaza) once and for all ! Oh, and by the way, let the Egyptians give them electricity and water and medical care for free! Israel should not give such humanitarian support to its enemies !!!

16. To the presumptuous #9 Re: your Hamas buddies
talk about pathetic! ,   usa   (01.02.08)
"How much 'training' can you get in a few days?" Well now, I really don't know, because I'm not an Islamist-Jihadist terrorist. But seeing as you live on a chain of islands in the Carribean, I guess you think you are close enough to Israel and Egypt to presume that you know all about Hamas and the way they operate. And BTW, I believe they DO train "at home," if you count launching rockets into Israel on a regular basis as "training."
17. #12
Yasir- Palestinian ,   Canada   (01.02.08)
You need a passport. They need a passport with 3 different visas and 10 permits to get in and out of Gaza. Not to mention being stranded in a desert or on a ferry. Do some research before you talk next time!
18. disgusting
kila ,   NJ   (01.02.08)
That is all I can say... Mubarak really just showed how little respect he has for Olmert, Israel, and their agreements. I never understood what was the big deal for the pilgrims to go through IDF inspection before they got back to Gaza unless they had something to hide. think it is way pass the time for Olmert and Barak to leave and a new administration to take its place.
19. #10 I am Sorry lamer..!
Ibrahim ,   Egypt   (01.02.08)
if you wanna say the israelis are stupid...definitely you are the stupidest....why do you say something will never happen...it is just a bad response due to bad livni action...she didn't respect basically the rules of diplomacy that is all...so Don't blame me ....surely The israeli politicians Like Livni has got it...so Why do you big the problem up Now..!!! it is completely Normal action due to previous bad action..
20.  Jews are jews...
Ibrahim ,   Egypt   (01.02.08)
Why NOT? we actually give them..yesterday they did talk about smuggling weapons..today smuggling money...tomorrow..smuggling H5N1 and so on....just delay the peace process..and then complain due to terrorism.......
21. Frankly, Palestinian or pilgrims are you objecting to?
observer   (01.02.08)
22. olmert's still sleeping; egypt still helping Israel's enemy
dante ,   uk   (01.02.08)
23. To ibrahim from "Egypt" (yeah, right...)
Ami   (01.02.08)
why dont you like Livni? Because she's a woman and she has the gutts to say what the Arab women will never dare say...the Truth? If there is an agreement and one side NEVER abides by it (the Arabs), what do you want Israel to do? Take it like a bee-otch? I dont even know why Israel bothers to make any agreements with the arabs...it never seems to lead to anything but violence and gun smeggling. Dont you people want to better your life in peaceful ways? How about building playgrounds for your children instead of smuggling guns? How about civilian infra-structure instead of making rockets and bombs...?
24. #23 NEVER has there been agreement to stop piligrims from
(01.02.08)
the Egyptian side. When Israelis, whether women or men, agree to such a thing, they should be all held responsible.
25. Egypt didn't let them into Gaza, they threw them out of Egypt
Gershon ,   Canada   (01.02.08)
They don't want them anymore that Israel does. Pre-1967 Gazans weren't allowed to enter Egypt without special permits, nothings changed. Israel needs to complete it's withdrawal from Gaza and cut off all supplies, seal the Israel/Gaza borders permanently. Declare Gaza an enemy state and treat any attacks appropriately.
26. #23 NEVER has there been agreement to stop piligrims from
(01.02.08)
the Egyptian side. When Israelis, whether women or men, agree to such a thing, they should be all held responsible.
27. agreement is agreement
(01.02.08)
Egypt has never agreed to play the "policeman" for Israel. More, it's clear what the origin of those arms is from. If you don't know ask your IDF, Israel's border guards & navy!
28. #7 Khalid, spelling mistakes
Chatich   (01.02.08)
"Israel will not allow Egypt to keep the border open (like every other single border in the entire world), and so the people of Gaza will have to continue smuggling FOOD and MEDICAL SUPPLIES through tunnels." You seem to have misspelt "explosives" and "rocket-making supplies". Perhaps our resident tosspot, antisemitic english guy, can help you out with your diction. As for "every other single border in the entire world", these other borders enjoy the luxury of not having rockets and mortars lobbed across them every day. Only foolish compassion and regard for human life on the part of Israel keeps your little cesspool of a reichlet from being bulldozed to oblivion, as any other nation under attack would have done years ago.
29. #12 Yes, the world should Open Borders
(01.02.08)
by opening the closed Gaza's air, land & see routes. The world should not adopt the Up-side-down Israel's view. Enough is enough, Israel shouldn't have a Special type of treatment.
30. dont inspect
(01.02.08)
does anyone really tihnk they would?
