1. Maybe border opening is compensation for piligrims killing
צבי ,   הבלקן   (01.04.08)
2. coddle him while he aids murderers
arthur ,   jersey city usa   (01.04.08)
Israel is losing its soverignty. It has entrusted its security to third parties,UNIFIL, EU, UN Egypt. It allows others to control its borfers. Egypt MUST be forced to honor its treaty obligations. Condi spent months negotiating the border protoco;s before Israels retreat from Gaza. The protocols were never observed. The EU fled and egypt cooperates with hamas fatah and the terrorists. Israelis die

4. Clueless idiots running a government
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (01.04.08)
What's new about that. Bush will have you giving away the entire country, instead of getting the United States off of the terrorists oil dole. Nuclear Power, smaller vehicles with higher gas mileage, alternate fuel sources...................................... That's what is needed. This trading away Jewish land to settle an oil problem, is a joke.
5. And this is with a Peace Treaty??
guy ,   los angeles   (01.04.08)
Eqypt is only concerned with the US Cngress payoff money every year--- Israel is feared, envied and hated in in Eygpt and rest of the Arab world ----the "Peace Treaty" formalized a no war-status ---nothing more...
6. egypt and mubarak
marv   (01.04.08)
Mubarak is not a bag egg and egypt is a big important country. The cold peace is based on a minimum of relations and reserved areas based on treaties and varous allignment of forces. In such a deal, don't ask too much of either side. Israel was dead wrong, asbolutely wrong to dump on cairo the need to police gaza border. Mubarak is exactly correct. The fact that israel was silent is easy to explain--Olmert is an absolute coward and is genuinely afraid, Livni is OK as a teacher in the classroom but is young and nervous with the assigment. Barak is a difficult case, he has the credentials, is clearly good on covert missions, but is paralysed in diplomacy and in general war situations-This has been the case since the ramallah lynchings where he stood by silently liike a sheep going to the slaugher. He still has this problem-so he does unwise things like saying israel will win the next war. Sharon never said this-he said we will know how to defend ourselves period. Instead of a lightening blocking strike he says we may do it. Something is defective in him and as I said, he is better than before but still not up to it.This is very important because in a war , barak is on his own as olmert will be hiding behind a tree he is so frightened.
7. The experiment failed
Israeli citizen ,   Israel   (01.04.08)
The Kadima leadership and the rest of the Left deserve this. The pullout from Gaza was a mistake of historical proportions for which we will pay dearly for a long time to come - and the heaviest price (the lives of our sons when we are forced to destroy Gaza) has yet to be paid. Your experiment has failed. Any responsible leadership would admit the failure of their policies and their actions and step down from power.
8. timeto admit the failure of this FOOLISH GOVERMENT
reuven ,   usa   (01.04.08)
is about time this goverment go home and neeww leaders who aree brave and wise to take control and bring israel to a point of real power.dammmm you OLMERT GO HOME
9. 3 Women died on the border what they have to wait for
(01.04.08)
One week sleeping on the border in such winter what you expect , they will watch them dieing one after one and for what ... for the eyes of Israel ... or it was a dirty Israelian game to cause clashes between the Egyptians and the Palistinians ... and this old man you speak about you know what he did to you in 1973 or you forgot or that's why you attack him now , take your finger away from Egypt before the anger temprament gets higher and higher whenever i know that your leadership are more wiser than you and your Livny .
10. Same misleading
bob ,   usa   (01.04.08)
just so you guys know Roni Sofer did not draw the whole picture and because most of the people commenting here ignorant, they take to heart what they read. Egypt was sticking with Israel and the pilgrim had to use Israeli crossing that is why they stayed out there a few days but livni had to open her big mouth and the jewish lobby had to play hard and try to cut the egyptian sell out price. So basically egypt is telling the US and Israel that if they don't want to play ball, egypt can play ball with syria and Iran. This is only the egyptian government stand by the way because as far as the egyptian people they have a totally different standpoint. So Roni trying to make it look like poor babies Olmert, Livni and Barak are so innocent even a cat would eat their dinner?
11. STOP THE CHARITY TO EGYPT
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (01.04.08)
My hard earned tax dollars are going to Egypt at 2billion/year, for their supposedly aiding the coalition years ago in kicking Iraq out of Kuwait. What a farce. No Arab troops entered Iraq. Egypt's debt was forgiven. Israel erred in returning the Sinai 3 times to the dictators in Egypt, which, btw, had gas vans in the Sinai (I wonder what for?). Sharon could have gone on to Cairo and stopped..he could have wiped out the 2nd and 3rd armies..and didn't. Big mistakes. Now Egypt for local politics, gives the finger to Israel. Israel must retake the crossing points and secure the border. Send in a few divisions if necessary...and aim nukes at the Aswan Dam if Egypt sends one soldier to defend. NO MORE MONEY TO EGYPT!!!
12. Shame on Olmert, Dicter, Barak and all of the rest of them!
Judith, Haifa   (01.04.08)
who did not stand up for our FM. The Israel public took note of that and of the fact that Olmert chose to compliment the Egyptian bully instead of standing up for his FM. They will pay for it! we will not forget the outrageous silence of the pathetic lambs. And of course one can see the damage of their conduct; can they say anything to the bully now that they have sacrificed Livni? Oh, and by the way: Livni was and is right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13. diplomacy
observer   (01.04.08)
Where was Israel when Egypt allowed Pilgrims from Rafah? The answer is Israel was happy and thought that it was a one way trip. who said that Egypt did not inspect its "go and fro" list of Pilgrims? Does Israel wants Egypt to recognize Hamas and its issued passports? Has Egypt agreed to prevent Pilgrims using its routs to Makka? Try to answer and then you might have it all clear.
14. why be surprized?
eliezer ,   jewrusalem   (01.04.08)
israelis have showed the arabs that they are cowards, both in the field and also in negotiations. why should we be surprized that the egyptians ignore the israeli's orders? israelis = jerks
15. Typical Arab
Jeffrey ,   Boston, USA   (01.04.08)
Mubarak is no different than any other Arab. He's a liar, and when he lies to your face and you turn around he'll stick a knife in your back. Israel should know better. Mubarak no different than the Saudi Royal Mafia, the Syria despot Assad, Nassralah, etc, etc, etc...

jack bauer ,   from the death cult?   (01.04.08)

18. Scared of the Fox man...
Ibrahim ,   Egypt   (01.05.08)
Egypt is a police state....Knows everything...but turning a blind eye for something doesn't mean Failure..and doesn't mean He is old man...if you gotta think that He means He is a fox man...because if He wants to do something.....He will do it believe me...He just wanted to send some messages to Tel Aviv....
19. # 11 Dave Levy Burbank Stop ALL AID to Muslims

They use it to attack both Israel and her allies. Perhaps they're ready for their 72 year old virgins?
20. What do you expect from a Hero.?
Ibrahim ,   Egypt   (01.05.08)
in 1973 Mubarak was the commander of Egyptian airforce that striked the East Suez Canal strongly... The main plan of Mubarak was extended to strike Tel Aviv on Holiday....But president Sadat (traitor) was refused..and the traitor told USA that we don't extend beyond The East Suez Canal during the war...heh Tel Aviv knew immediately...therefore Egyptian general Saad Eddine El-Shazly called sadat as a traitor..Until now we call sadat as traitor...and Mubarak was a hero...and named vice president of Egypt...

23. Ibrahim, Egypt (01.05.08)
Alex Saby ,   Canada   (01.06.08)
Mubarak a hero, you must be joking. We all know that Egyptian air force has no match with Israeli air force.
24. Alex, he's right...
Ari ,   UK, London   (01.06.08)
To be honest, I think that the help we got from the US in 1973 is the only reason why Egyptian forces didn't reach Tel Aviv... we didn't see them coming. I don't know how old you are, but I was there... Let's not provoke an unnecessary war with the wrong enemy. We need to focus our attention on Iran, Syria and Hamas... Egyptian military strategy is not to defeat Isreal in a heads-on confrontation or have stronger forces (US guarantees they don't). Their strategy is to be able to inflict enough painful damage to our lives and our economy to the extent that this in itself becomes a deterrent to us, in addition to being able to lead an unconventional war similar to the one Hizbullah embarrassed with in front of the world. Let's not pick an unwanted fight... Let the US and EU give him a lesson and hold his pocket money for a while!
25. don't u guys have more serious threats to face?
independent observer ,   US   (01.06.08)
Mubarak is not a hero, but the Egyptian army and intelligence is after what they've achieved in the first 10 days of the "surprise surprise" 1973 war before your army got a hand from us. Mubarak is sending Tel Aviv a well-calculated message not to mess around with him. Livni's provocative statements were really unneccessary against a government which still is, believe it or not, your best friend in Egypt. If I was in Olmert's shoes, I'd focus on the real risks and issues I'm facing...
