1. A False Peacemaker with sweet smile..
Marcel ,   Florida   (01.09.08)
A phony peacemaker who never delivers peace has Israel seduced for many years now. His sweet smile is enough to fool them as are his empty smooth words. Usually if one offers a solution which always fails most people eventually wake up ,but not Israel. Faithless Israel continues to believe in lies because this is the curse to those Jews who ignore Hashem . Yeremiah 17:5

Peace will never come as long as one side rejects it. In the case of the Palestinian-Israeli ( and Israeli-Arab and Israeli-Muslim ) dispute, there is no evidence that Israel's enemies want a true peace with Israel. The President's efforts, as were the efforts of Bill Clinton before him are based on wishful and delusional thinking. In some aspects, Clinton's efforts, although doomed to failure were based on more reality than the efforts of Pres. Bush. After all, Clinton and Barak were negotiating with a strong leader in Arafat who had the ability to really make peace. Unfortunately, Arafat was advised by the anti-Israel ex-President Carter to reject the peace offer made by Barak and Clinton and launched a terrorist war against Israel as a result of the failed peace talks. Abbas, on the other hand, has no real power to make any agreement work. The rockets will not stop and the Palestinian population will not turn against the radicals of Hamas and Fatah. Also, Olmert is not respected by the Israeli public and the war report by the Winogerad commission may make Olmert's adminstration fall. In addition, most Israelis want to see some good-will gesture from the Palestinians. Instead, they are greeted every day with harsh demands from the Palestinians that cannot be part of the peace agreement. There is no Palestinian acknolegement that peace is necessary or that Israel needs security. Remember, Israel has released hundreds of Palestinian prisoners as a goodwill gesture. The Palestinians refuse to even consider releasing Israeli POWs. The disgusting and crude editor of H'aaretz may think that most Israelis want to be raped by the US. Perhaps if he left his self-imposed leftist ivory tower and actually associated with Israelis, he would realize that he is in need of help.
6. Is Israel also allowed to fight terrorism?
Dov   (01.09.08)
Are Kassam rockets and Katyushas launched at Israel considered terrorism? Is shooting policemen and border guards considered terrorism? Are suicide bombers among civilians considered terrorism? Is Israel allowed to fight these terrorists like America and other countries do? Or does Israel have to sit back and show restraint and wait for America to come and retaliate?
7. two innocent civilian murdered by American made shell
observer   (01.09.08)
because of Bush's saying "international community must confront those who would murder the innocent to achieve political objectives" A short while ago, IDF has murdered two innocent civilians in densely populated area in Gaza. The IDF said "as is usual, they operate near innocent Palestinian civilians and endanger them. We undertake great efforts to avoid hitting civilians," So why the IDF strike with American made shells in highly populated area, against the norms and laws of the international community? The answer is: because Bush said it IS a MUST.

those evil terrorists who fired Kassam rockets in the vicinity of those non combatants were responsible for those two deaths as were the Hamas security forces who failed to apprehend the terrorists the brave soldiers of the IDF are not responsible for these deaths our hands and souls are clean

11. #8 No, the brave soldiers of the IDF are responsible
observer   (01.09.08)
“Tit-for-tat abuses can’t be justified by arguing that the other side violated the law first: the laws of war are meant to protect civilians from harm, whatever the reason,” said Joe Stork, deputy director of Human Rights Watch’s Middle East division. “Otherwise, the cycle of violence spirals out of control, as happened in Gaza and Israel.” The Human Rights Watch report comes on the eve of a July 2 High Court hearing about an IDF policy that reportedly reduced the “safety zone” between artillery targets and civilian areas from 300 to 100 meters in April 2006. Human Rights Watch found that all fatalities and all but eight injuries from artillery fire between September 2005 and May 2007, which Israel claimed was in self-defense, occurred after this change in policy.
12. not just statistics
observer   (01.09.08)
From September 2005 to May 2007, Palestinian armed groups fired almost 2,700 locally-made rockets toward Israel. They killed four and injured 75 Israeli civilians. During the same time period, from September 2005 through May 2007, the IDF fired more than 14,600 155mm artillery shells into Gaza. Shells fired close to populated areas killed 59 people and wounded 270, most if not all of them civilians.
