1. Come and get me...
Elchonon ,   Chevron   (01.16.08)
Yet again, I quote the US founding father's "we hold these truthes to be self evident" Freedom of speech is one way.. Keneset members on the left can call settlers nazi's.. inasmuch as I say one peep the police come breaking down my door.. charging ME with incitment. How brutaly ironic.. we settlers, painted as we are as millitiant, violent, murdering thugs.. yet offending us is not "incitment" Yet the leftist sector which paint themselfs as "the good guys" if we offend them thats incitment? Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death. Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775 We the people.. mean nothing.. we lowly serfs.. worthless masses have no collective rights.. only the almighty keneset (if your left or arab)and high court may speak freely. Maybe if you guys did not do such a lousy job...wait, you dont do any jobs... I should give up.. those in power were not duly elected.. its each man representing himself.. The arab mentality has rubbed off here, denying responsability, smashing free speech, lies and excuses, bribery, tyrany and on and on... I dont fear you in the keneset.. rather you just went down yet ANOTHER notch in my eyes.. Go on you fools.
2. THIS BILL IS CENSORSHIP
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (01.16.08)
Blogs and talkbacks are a way to get unpopular or politically incorrect ideas discussed. I see censorship of thought in the US in public schools, colleges, the press, etc., all in the name of preventing so-called "hate speech". But hate speech in the eyes of one person may be intellectual discussion in the eyes of another. Who is to decide what is to be allowed? People seem to think it's okay to use the internet for pornography and anti-semitic viewpoints all in the name of "free speech". If censorship is to be allowed, this is where it should be used, not to suppress ideas that some may find not to their liking.
3. so that means
Igor ,   Munich, Germany   (01.16.08)
the Ynet Site will be affected as well, won´t it? But nobody can make me liable for anything since I don´t live in Israel. Anyway this is bullcrap, freedom of speed is everyone´s right and should be respected, and who really cares what and who wrote something about him or her on a forum or in a talkback? I certainly don´t ....
4. Stalinist ,Bolsheviks no longer hide their aim
Marcel ,   Florida   (01.16.08)
The more this criminal gang use the government and laws to enforce their draconian agenda the more these cursed totalarian devils will sink in a pit they are digging for themselves.
5. The only light in the current Israel's(and world's)situation
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (01.16.08)
is the possibily of a free criticism. Without it,G'od forbid,we all would be in the hands of evil and in the hands of death ,without ,at least, any possibility of salvation. Moses was possible for Jews, due to the courageous certainty of his parents not to obey to Farao, by even don't trying to have children anymore, just for the thought they would be killed anyway. It is a fundamental lesson to be learnt:We must deny death and keep on going, even without apparent hope! Shuting up mouths in any manner, would be a disgrace. Actually, mouths should be shut up only when they bring death and not life, but as the majority are not prepared to set the differences clear yet,it is better not to shut up any mouth.
6. Free Speech
Chana ,   USA/ Israel   (01.16.08)
There goes free speech in Israel!!! How sad that Israel is not a free country any more, with this Gov't . Next they will tape phone calls and hire people to turn us in for speaking the truth about the Olmert Gov't
7. Knesset = gov't rubberstamp
Simcha ,   Jerusalem   (01.16.08)
Since they do not answer to the people who DON'T elect them, what do they care? They exist only to further the aims of the oligarchs who control them. NO ONE is looking out for the people!!!!!!!!!! The internet is the last bastion of free expression left in the world. This is the proof that these regimes are "democratic" in name ONLY .
8. i wonder if it covers paqid's lashon hara
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (01.16.08)
oh eyah, i forgot that when paqid does it, it's ok because he's 'special'.
9. True syptoms of PARANOIA in Israel's Goverment and Court
Joseph P. ,   JewRusalem   (01.16.08)
Blogs and Talkbacks are a way to get to the people and this is what this anti-Israel corrupt government and court are suspicious of.
10. COMMUNISM style of "Democracy" in "Zionist" Israel
Joseph P. ,   Jerusalem   (01.16.08)
Who else, but Yisrael Beiteinu would propose such a legislation? Yisrael Beiteinu was created for RUSSIAN immigrants and they are used to their Freedom of Speech being suppressed. This law coming from a government whose “leaders” and ministers like Olmert and Sharon, etc. are Russian immigrants, does not surprise us. For all of those who STILL BELIEVE and were fooled into believing that Israel is a Democracy, this new law proves that Israel is NOT A DEMOCRACY. In fact, it never was a democracy.
11. Are we allowed to write talkback for this article?
Moshe ,   Dolev   (01.16.08)
12. UNCENSORED talkbacks will have to be done in US or EU blogs
Joseph P. ,   JewRusalem   (01.16.08)
Someone out there in chutz le'aretz, give us a website where Israelis can post uncensored against this government.
13. Isaran
Zeev   (01.16.08)
Are you kidding??? Is this israel or Iran? So many other things they NEED to do..but they play games with israel's tax money!!
14. ANSWER: move Ynet offshore!
Adamush   (01.16.08)
15. Another well observed statement from Keren
Roni ,   TA   (01.16.08)
16. Question: As Israelis paying taxes to keep
(01.16.08)
these government ministers in huge salaries every month, are you happy that this is what they get up to in your name? I expect the Jewish state to be doing something just a little more serious...
17. Hasson , a leftist ?
Charles ,   petach tikva   (01.16.08)
Israel Beitenu a leftist party ? that's great news . The name Hasson don't sounds Russian to me . So many are wrong here , maybe not so much wrong as suffering from paranoia , hate for everything that not is in line with their ideas . This for those poor elchonon and jossele P . BTW , does Ynet receive 50,000 posts every day ?
18. Is this really necessary?
Yossi ,   Levittown, PA, US   (01.16.08)
If site managers do their job and block offensive respondents, the answer is no. From what I can see, this is not happening; many of these responses are continuously insulting and reflect badly on the respondents, hurt people, and impugn our Jewishness. Adhere to standards of ethics and decency; i.e., do your job and don't create more bureaucracy.
19. Their own unpopularity scares them.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.16.08)
They think if no one reads our low opinion of them, it will all go away. But, it won't. Personally, I will start sending e-mails directly to Knesset members. You want to come arrest me? What will you do, deport me? Our politicians have been unacountable for so long they think they have some kind of "divine right" to rule over us. They are above criticism - we, the electorate are becoming a nuisance to the new dukes, earls, & barons of our very own House of Lords. But the truth is that they are feeling a bit insecure - this dysfunctional political system is at a dead end. Eventually, change will come.
20. #17 - Charles, I think Ynet...
Joe ,   Los Angeles, CA   (01.16.08)
Charles, I think Ynet does get more than 50,000 hits on their site a day, which would fall under the axe of this bill... It's a shame, however, that efforts aren't being done to clean up the quality of articles posted on news sites. It seems to me that the Israeli government is more interested in being politically correct than factually correct, essentially turning Ynet, Haaretz and Arutz Sheva into Jewish al-Jazeeras. I think you and I would both agree that media reform is necessary, but censoring talkbacks because their content might offend people is not the way to go around acheiving this goal...
21. I just can't believe this bill! You mean if I
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (01.16.08)
post a talkback that states Olmert is a weak livered, spineless twit, (He is in my opinion) I or this site is liable?! I read here awhile back that Olmert and crew has a 3% approval rating. 3 PERCENT! I'm entitled to my opinion, especially when it is a fact! If your skin is that thin your not fit for the job you have in government, and by the looks of the numbers in the local polls your all lucky your not scraping dog poo up in the streets. If your feelings are hurt by my comments too bad. SUE ME! The people of Israel have had too suffer from way too much over the years, terror, corruption, 60 years of having to hear that their neighbors were coming across the border to slaughter them, and then trying to! Now the government wants to muzzle them from expressing their collective rightful discontent on these legitimate issues. Maybe the Israel government would be better serving their electorate if they LISTENED to, rather than stifled the publics opinions.. And, if they don't, the public needs to note the names of all these government officials and in the next election give them the opportunity to find employment elsewhere.
22. From Trotsky to Lenin to Stalin to Yacimovich
Leon Ash ,   Grand Rapids MI   (01.16.08)
Leftists never change !
23. This is good we can arrest the right wing talkbackers
Shulamit   (01.16.08)
This is good. Anyone who tries to post a comment against the peace process should go straight to jail for incitement. No free speech for fascists
24. Talkback Bill
Tova ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.16.08)
This legislation will not come to pass as it will affect talkbackers from all countries and internets site. However, in the years to come Governments higher than the United Nations will or have already have access to all comments made on Talkback. it is just a matter to time when they decide to enforce this law against the people of the world.
25. Who is BIG BROTHER?
moariah ,   sacramento   (01.16.08)
"Anyone who tries to post a comment against the peace process should go straight to jail for incitement." This is priceless and so defining of the elitist " All men are equal, but some are more equal than others" ideaology of the fascist Left that is attempting to destroy Israel.
26. where do you draw the line
USA   (01.16.08)
so many jews /israelis on these talkbacks call ARABS and PAlestinians the nastiest names- even advocating killing them. and cheering when they are killed. so there will be ALOT of jews in jail - because THATS hate speech-
27. All blogs or talkbacks in America and now it seems in Israel
Rivkah   (01.16.08)
are stored in a database to be used against a person who applies for a job if anything can be found that can be used against a person. My Daddy was a retired US Army Colonel and one of those procrustean types who did not say much because if he said anything he might inadvertently reveal something that should not be said because it was classified. All those years and decades he was so silent most of the time except when explaining the Bible or TV sports events or homework problems to his children ended when he read the book, "The Codebreakers." He was shocked at all the classified material he was keeping secret that was put into a book, apparently not classified anymore. This is a new kind of censorship that reflects a bit dog barking, perhaps. I have been slandered so much in my life I learned that people do not listen to much less remember slander because they are so interested in themselves, not you.
28. A facist law to protect the left from us evil righties!
Avraham ,   Negev   (01.16.08)
They can't take critizism or the truth. We are becomming a bannana republic.
29. retarded MK's!we will talk and more...but if u r scared....
GOD   (01.16.08)
must be a good reason!?
30. Charles, put your glasse on your nose before you respond.
Joseph P. ,   JewRusalem   (01.16.08)
Ynet wrote: "MK Israel Hasson (Yisrael Beiteinu) who proposed this legislation." Hasson belongs to this RUSSIAN party. Whether he's Ashkenazic, Sepharadic, Arabic, or whatever, he's already part of this RUSSIAN mentality. Charles, you’re a Zionist. Well, officially. Have you changed your political philosophy to atheist Communism? Are you also suffering from paranoia that you can't accept what people say about you, how you hate chareidim? If so, you should join this government or perhaps even become a judge in Israel’s atheist court.
