6. David , Santa Cruz , you are right of course
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.19.08)
That's just what i wanted to write , but the Sderot living conditions are a greater concern for us .
7. Terrorism has consequences.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.19.08)
Most of the story is propaganda BS anyway. Burial shrouds & cement are not items of necessity. Gasoline is not one of the inalienable rights of man. Either is electricity. At most, these are inconveniences. They are not starving. Many under-developed regions of the world live in far worse conditions - conditions, which for the most part, they did not cause & which they do not deserve. Palestinians, on the other hand, have caused their own poverty & misery. It is not undeserved. And the reason they live in poverty is because they have embraced terrorism, violence, religious fanaticism, & hatred. If ever a people deserved to suffer, it is the Palestinians. So, no sympathy from me - Have a nice day.
8. Life under Hamas....
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (01.19.08)
just isn't what it was cracked up to be, is it? If you lie down with dogs, you'll wake up with fleas. Maybe the a--hats can barter qassams for cement, burial shrouds and a couple of gallons of gas. Those are probably readily available in Sderot.
9. The same old Palestinian tactics
Mahlon Drumgoole ,   Newark NJ   (01.19.08)
Only in a world that is infected with antisemitism could this tactic work. Quite simply, Hamas and other terrorists manipulate world opinion by forcing Israel to defend itself. Hamas and its affiliated murderers shoot rockets at defenseless citizens in Sderot and other parts of the Israeli Negev. When Israel responds with force or closes the border, the antisemites and other assorted evil crazies denounce Israel and Hamas wins some points in their ongoing manipulative and pathological propaganda war against Israel. In fact, no other country, other than a Jewish nation, woould be denied the right of self-defense against fanatics who are firing missiles at its citizens. The Palestinians only want to destroy Israel and they proved this by electing Hamas. If they want the blockade and retaliation to stop, let them stop firing rockets at Israel and concentrate on cleaning up their cesspool of a territory.
10. "shortage of burial shrouds"
YA ,   UK   (01.19.08)
..maybe it is better to bury these f***ing rockets instead of people? Mm? An get burial shrouds as bonus. Just think again Mahmood.
11. hamas terror
Dovid Ben Leizer ,   Novi,Mich USA   (01.19.08)
I do not feel sorry for gaza. They have elected a terrorist government. They have protected them. They agree with them And they choose to live with them. You Reap what you Sow. I'm just sorry the inept government of the Jewish State did not do it sooner. I have seen the face of death many times, and it always looks better on the enemy. Am Yisrael Chi Dovid Ben Leizer Hakohain Lt.Col.Ret. Novi, michigan USA OMNI-BERATUS
12. Dear Gazans,
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.19.08)
There are no more peace-loving people in the world than the Jews. But, we are not stupid. Ultimately, we want to live in peace with you. But, we cannot accept your missiles and terrorism. Be smart, dear Gazans, and immediately lay down your arms and cease your incitements. Be brave, dear Gazans, and accept the fact that the Jews are here to stay, and that this is the Land of Israel, owned and operated by the Jews. Then, your suffering will stop, and you, too, can live in peace and prosperity. Wishing you well,
13. intentional suffering serves a purpose
realist ,   jm, israel   (01.19.08)
let's remember that the suffering in gaza is intentional. the arab would could support their brothers in gaza in 15 minutes. they leave them to suffer and wallow in the their own self-imposed misery to make israel look like the big bad oppressor.... if only the world would finally REFOCUS their lenses to see what is really going down in that little sandy strip of land, in a corner of western israel...
14. Hamas cry for help
Marcel   (01.19.08)
I guess you arabs are cowards of the first order. You wanted to fight with israel, so you fire rockets at civilians and then when IDF responds, you run to the UN and pacifist Europe to tell them to stop. Keep fighting, lets see what you have got. Don't tell us that you are afraid, don't you want 70 virgins. You are the same type of coward that Olmert is.
15. from the jordan to the sea, hamas boys
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (01.19.08)
any day now, you're almost there.
16. Is this news or propaganda?
JPS ,   Efrat   (01.19.08)
"Siege"? Why is this a "siege"? This is a perfect example of how a misleading headline contributes to the problem. Journalists are supposed to prevent the facts in as unbiased a way as possible so that the reader can make their own op-eds. However, the Palestinians have succeeded in created a newspeak for the media so that the headline of this article is unquestioned (except by some talkbackers here). Here are some equally truthfull and equally misleading headlines: "Gaza suffers as military policy against zionists continues." "Gaza suffers as Hams continues policy of firing at Israeli civilians." "Gaza suffers as Hamas continues to reject peace with Israel." "Hamas's decision to completely reject peace with Israel for the time being, as well as the mounting number of anti-personnel rockets fired at Israeli civilians, has intensified the distress faced by Gaza residents due to Israel's defensive measures against the Palestinian aggressions."
17. Terrorism has consequences
Jack ,   Spokane USA   (01.19.08)
Bravo, Terry. Why are those living in Gaza so hateful?
18. Will Gazans rise up against Hamas or do they support it!?
redmiike ,   TA - LA - London   (01.19.08)
19. politically correct
Leonie   (01.19.08)
What is this pathetic politically correct language on ynet? Calling terrorists "gunmen"? Lest readers think they're reading the BBC and not the Israeli press, we'll just remind everyone that Israel is a democracy and Arab journalists write for the Israeli press unedited(only country in the Middle East where that happens). Ali Waked, the journalist in this article, forgot to mention the reason Israeli troops are back in Gaza - rockets incessantly fired at the Israeli town of Sderot and the agricultural kibbutzes around Sderot. Israel left Gaza nearly 3 years ago, dismantled all Jewish homes there and took the Army out but Gazan terrorists have since fired thousands of rockets into Israel and at last, Israel is saying "This will not continue" just as any other sovereign country would have done the minute the first rocket was fired.
20. YNET ??????
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (01.19.08)
Excuse me Ynet but we are dealing here with a entity that does not even recgonize us being here ! Their ultimate goal and reason for living is to destroy us not my words but theirs. I understand that Ynet thinks that they hold the banner of morality ,social justice and elevated humanism, but it seems insane to give or do anything for this entity calling itself Hamas and co. I wish that Ynet could give as much compasion towards the citizens of the western negev and their daily traumas and suffering. Simply said Hamas and co brought their suffering on themselves and we should not reopen any borders nor give electricity or any other services. This can not be repeated often enough. Being kind to the cruel, results into being cruel to the kind. Somewere along the way I still have hope that Ynet is capable of reporting towards that direction. In the end the suffering in Gaza is self inflicted.
21. "BAD TO WORSE ,TO GOOD TO BETTER"
ROLAND SEENER ,   LONDON ENGLAAAAND   (01.19.08)
JUST AS THEY HAVE CHANTED "DEATH TO THE JEWS" ,BURNT THE ISRAELI FLAG AND SENT QUASSEMS RAINING DOWN ON S'DEROT .SO COMPLAINING WONT HELP.FOR THEM TO LICK THEIR WOUNDS,ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED,VIZ.IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF SHALLIT UNCONDITIONALLY,AND FOR THEM TO GO ON ALL FOURS AND BEG FOR MERCY FROM ISRAEL.SETTLING THEIR DISPUTES WITH THE GUN IS SOMETHING THAT THE WONT GAIN WORLD SYMPATHY.THEY HAVE A HARD TASK INORDER TO COME TO TERMS THAT A NON-COUNTRY EXISTS, THEY NEED ALSO TO DEVELOPE A NON-BELLIGERANT SOCIETY INORDER TO GAIN WORLD RESPECT AND APPROVAL AS A PEOPLE WHO DESERVE A STATE OF THEIR OWN .I THINK IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK AND THEIR SITUATION AS DETRIMENTATAL AS IT IS,WILL PERSIST UNTIL THEY RE-EDUCATE THEIR CHILDREN AND PUT JEWS IN THEIR GOOD BOOKS .IS THIS AN IMPOSSIBILITY,?THAT IS FOR THEM TO DECIDE
22. keep it going !
oded   (01.19.08)
this the only language they might understand after all...
23. Arab oppinion or propaganda
Alex ,   LA, USA   (01.19.08)
This is Arab oppinion or pure propaganda. Why it is in a NEWS column? Thousands of Arabs are trying to get into the Gaza. They know that the life in Gaza is much better than in many countries, like Sudan, Yemen, etc. Egypt can't keep them from Gaza.
24. shortage of burial shrouds
(01.19.08)
BUT NEVER A SHORTAGE OF KASAAMS AND KATYOUSHAS
25. BUT OF COURSE THEY HAVE ENOUGH KASSANS AND MORTAR ROUNDS
Jorge ,   tegucigalpa   (01.20.08)
Amazing, they are able to have enough kassams and mortar rounds to fire on Israeli civilians, but are not able to have food and medicines for their people, there you see their priorities and their intentions. P.S. To Ynetnews, please stop playing terrorists games and propaganda
26. Move all gazans to Saudi Arabia, no suffering there. Right?
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica,CA USA   (01.20.08)
27. gaza
colin   (01.20.08)
Amazing how Y net will print of the suffering and hardships in the gaza BUT NOTHING ABOUT STOPPING THE ROCKETS.NOTHING ABOUT SDEROT.NOTHING OF THE EGYPTIAN BORDER. Is Ynet the mouthpiece of the hamas government?? It sure looks like it.
28. This is terrible, you would have to feel sorry for them
Nissim Mizrahi ,   Eilat Israel   (01.20.08)
Don't ever ever lift up the siege,in fact tighten it.Ghouls who trade in human parts don't deserve any sympathy at all. You would have to wonder if these people are human.
29. another proof,that leftis'm,is a mental disease
