Moriah ,   sacramento, USA   (01.20.08)
Israel must have upset one or two of the brown underprivileged victims of the white Jewish oppressor. Israel must now take a timeout from responding to rockets - I mean "over reacting " to indigenous and justified freedom fighters in the former Jewish community of Gush Katif so that Hamass can rearm. It's only fair and the right thing to do. Maybe Israel can level the playing field a little further and send more guns, ammo and explosives...It could hurt the Palestinians self esteem if Israel acts too much like a sovereign Nation...

Insensitive Remarks ,   Gaza   (01.20.08)
While the IDF statement and the two commentators before me showed no sympathy whatsoever with the innocent people in Gaza Strip, who continue to be kidnapped by extremists, would you people tell me if you would be able to endure an daily electricity shortage from 12 hours on, or would you live through the loss of job opportunities and continued unemployment for years, or unavailability of goods, or no travel for any reason whatsoever? Which of you would be able to live through this? And after all this, you express your happiness and satisfaction with the torment of a million and a half. There are many like me who did not vote for Hamas and who are disgusted with all what they are doing, but can not fight bare handed. You complain about the cruelty of your adversaries, but it seems that you have become crueler than them.
4. As long
Matityahu ,   Slovenia   (01.20.08)
as they are smugling weapons instead of food there is no humanitarian crisis in the s***hole called Gaza.
5. #3mr. sensitivity
jerome ,   basalt, co   (01.20.08)
I don't hear any sensitive comments from you about the people in Sderot! The exetremists are the problem for everybody in Gaza. If they stop shooting and firing rockets there wouldn't be power outages, loss of jobs opps, unavailable goods, and travel restrictions. The torment of the 11/12 million comes from within. I'm sure most people would like to see Gaza prosper and flurish with a good life for peaceful Arabs in Gaza!
6. #3 - So why don't you fight against Hamas??
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (01.20.08)
But if there aren't enough of you, then I think you should leave! But if you could overthrow Hamas, then Israel would help you rebuild your economy!! Stop the rockets being fired at us!!!

Funny how it seems impossible to find one Gazan who voted for Hamas and brought them into power. Previous talkbaxkers are right: you have made your bed, now lie in it.
8. Lights Off in Gaza
V Racer ,   Atlanta, GA   (01.20.08)
It's war. The Arabs play dirty. Israel is proxy fighting for all of civilization. Stop their food, their fuel, and their medicine. Their women and children are combatants, they made it so. Hope they freeze their arses off. They deserve it.
9. Gazans like #3 between a rock and a hard place
JPS ,   Efrat   (01.20.08)
Sorry for your plight and most of us would like to find another way out of this mess. Despite the qassams and mortars, we tore the settlers out of Gaza and handed the land over to you. What did we get? More qassams and mortars. We opened up the border crossings to trade and set up the Erez industrial zone to help your economy. What did we get? Attacks on the border crossings and terrorists sneaking into Ashdod port who killed as many people as they could. We handed over the Rafiah border crossing to the EU and Egypt. What did we get? A stream of smuggled weapons that are falling on our heads. Sorry, but you're in a very, very, very tough situation. We do not envy you. We would like to help you, but we simply cannot keep letting the bombs rain down on our civilians and open our border crossings to terrorists. If you have any better ideas of how to get Hamas to talk peace with Israel, then let us know. In the meantime, all we have is Haniyeh who says there will never be peace with Israel and the qassams will never stop.

No one wants to see a million people sitting in the dark back in the stone age. In a perfect world, the Arabs in Gaza would have taken the handoff of territory from Israel and made something good from it. I have no idea if all Arabs see Abbas as a collaborator because he appears to want to make a deal with Israel and Hamas as 'heros' because they 'resist', but a huge percentage of people voted for Hamas for one reason or another. The only problem is, now you cant vote them out..they have guns and you dont. However, if so many are disgusted with Hamas as you say, why arent you all taking to the streets in massive protest to force them to stop bringing harm your way? Probably cause they'll shoot dissenters....Catch 22, eh? And what do you expect Israel to do? Sit there while rockets pound Sderot haphazzardly? The goverment (supposedly) has an obligation to protect its populace which they have been lax in doing so far. Consider yourselves lucky that restraint has been shown so far. Your Arab brothers would have pulled a Hama and killed 20000 of you to make a point to quit. You do have a choice. You can protest what Hamas and IJ have brought you and make them stop. You cant honestly expect Israel to not protect Sderot and others. The Israeli government is responsible for the safety of its people, not yours. You dont like your lot in life or your government, do something about it. Joke: How many Arabs does it take to screw in a lightblub? Answer: None...they'd rather sit in the dark and blame the Jews. (Case in point)
11. Gaza Is Dependent On Israel
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.20.08)
and, yet, fires rockets at us. Does that make any sense to any rational person? And then they complain when Israel takes measures to halt their attacks.
12. and who knows better than than the IDF !

13. Please keep up the pressure on Hamas
Juan ,   Spain   (01.20.08)
Message to Israel's Government. Do not bow to International pressure. The measures being taken against Gaza are obviously causing problems to your enemy, Hamas. Do not go back to a situation of accepting rocket fire from an enemy, and taking little action. Each time there is rocket fire, the borders should be cut for 7 days. Gaza should have all their supplies routed through their Arabic friends in Egypt.
14. does Israel honour its words?
observer   (01.20.08)
but the supreme court verdict of objecting to Barak's cut of fuel to Gaza was not Israel's words. Neither could the prevention of international aid supplies be stopped by a supreme court; the IDF knows every thing better than any court.
15. smuggling of food supplies from Egypt?
observer   (01.20.08)
when was food supplies to a sieged country called "smuggling"?
16. americans approved
bri ,   phil usa   (01.21.08)
pres Bush must have given ok when he was in Israel so why are americans upset
17. Censor my words as you please
Salameh ,   Gaza, Palestine   (01.21.08)
But the fact can not be covered. The zionists who collectively punish us for resisting their cruel occupation are still in violation of all laws, Gods and Mans, and sooner or later they will be held accountable for their illegal actions. Shame on this world that watching us being slaughtered and staying idle, while go up in arms when an illegal settler is shot in Palestinian Hebron!!! History will neither forget nor forgive

J K ,   NYC, USA   (01.21.08)
Fact? There is NO occupation of Gaza anymore. Israel demolished who communities and pulled each and every settler out and redeployed all their forces outside the recognized boundries of Gaza territory. What there is now is an economic blockade. There happen in times of armed conflict and are NOT against international law. You've been believing the hype too long, but you, in Gaza, are no longer occupied. Get that through your head. And why dont you focus on your own crimes of launching missiles over an international border into a sovreign state? Some might call that war and there's a whole lot of badness that comes with that. More for Gaza than Israel. Think on that.
19. To Salameh
Bobby ,   Canada   (01.21.08)
Shame on you for letting your innocent people being hurt or killed, because of your own doing Stop whining, you spineless coward
20. hypocrite # 17
jerome ,   basalt, co   (01.21.08)
arabs live all over Israel in peace like the Druze. Israelis don't shoot them for being! Should Israel kick all the Arabs out of all of Israel? According to your thinking that would be fair
21. #3 ...

go hook with #17..only yourselves to blame.
22. #17 - Salameh
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (01.21.08)
I'm very glad his is not Al Jazeera or Al Ahram, we do not fear people expressing their atitudes. I am a Jew and a Zionist, and I only partially agree with the sanctions. But do you honestly think it is fair to blame only the Israelis? Don't you think HAMAS could stop all this madness almost immediately? All HAMAS has to do is agree that Israel has the right to exist and STOP THE ROCKETS? If I were a HAMAS leader the the situation in Gaza was really that bad I would be ashamed of my selfishness. HAMAS must stop acting like an 8 year old that doesn't want to eat their vegetables.
23. #3 - Well said
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (01.21.08)
The remarks are insensitive and accomplish nothing. But let me ask you - how to you suggest Israel stop the rockets?
24. #17
Marc Kantrowitz ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.21.08)
with this attitude you won't get anywhere. you are justifying the murder of an "illegal settler" in Hebron. Hebron is a historically Jewish place and Jews should be able to live there and other places of the WB or the eventual Palestinian state, just as Arab Muslims and Christians live in Israel. It is foolish to say that you are being "slaughtered" unprovoked and the allusion to the Holocaust that is implied by saying that the world is staying idle is less than appreciated by most civilized people. Perhaps what you mean to say is that YOU and YOUR PEOPLE will never forget nor forgive...
25. Dear Salameh - read this
JPS ,   Efrat   (01.21.08)
"The attacks against civilians by Palestinian armed groups are widespread, systematic and in pursuit of an explicit policy to attack civilians. They therefore constitute crimes against humanity under international law. They may also constitute war crimes..." http://web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGMDE020032002?open&of=ENG-ISR And remember, there is no occupation of Gaza any more. We left. And if you wonder why the borders are closed, then ask Hamas and Jihad why they keep attacking the borders. Ask them why they attacked Erez so many times that the industrial zone was closed and 2000 Palestinians lost their jobs. And remember, that it was Palestinians who massacred Jews in Hebron, chased the survivors out and stole their land. Shame on this world for listening to Palestinian propaganda. And of course, if you stop shooting illegal missiles from Gaza at our civilians and if you stop attacking the border crossings, then there won't be any "siege". Sooner or later Hamas will be held responsible for their cruel occupation of Gaza in violation of all laws of Palestine. Hamas slaughtered more Fatah people than you will admit to the world.

What a crap. Gaza is sealed off by air and sea by Israel. TAKING THE WORLD FOR STUPID.
27. Crisis in the IDF
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (01.21.08)
We have a crisis in the IDF: one of its officials is psychotic. Anyone who has been following events in Gaza has seen abundant proof of extreme crisis in Gaza. This IDF official is completely out of contact with reality, and needs a vacation to rest his mind.
28. Human rights for human beings
Moshe ,   Raanana   (01.21.08)
They used to send their sons to blow us up, now it is not so easy so they are sending kassams and mortars to try kill our people. Never mind humans, even animals don't behave like this! So enough about the absolute drivel of human rights - it does not apply here
29. EXACTLY:
Zvi   (01.21.08)
"The Palestinians are in fact the ones who shut down power for several hours a day in a bid to create a crisis. At the moment, their fuel supply has not run out yet. If there is shortage of fuel oil at the power plants, they should ask themselves what happened to the supply they received."
30. IDF offcial rejects claims of humanitarian crisis in Gaza
Redzuan Tahar ,   Malaysia   (01.21.08)
We are used to denials by the IDF. It does not alter the facts that filter out. Targetted killings or asassinations carry on unabetted. If this carry on the diaspora will repeat itself, because the God of Abraham is kind and benevolent. Israel told his sons to adhere to the message of Abraham. As long as the tribe of Israel enjoin the convenant they will harvest the promises of Abraham's Lord. When they transgress then they will bear his wrath. Therefore the tribe of Israel should be more kind and benevolent to the others.
