1. Author Is Way Too Kind To Olmert
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (01.22.08)
This writer is being way too kind to Olmert. Olmert does not care a fig about the collapse of S'derot and the eventual collapse of zionism. He and his fellow cronies are actively working towards destroying zionism, NOT saving it. IF one believes that Olmert is a shrewd politician, that he is a shrewd lawyer and that he knows what is going on around him, then one MUST conclude that his dereliction is purposeful. It will serve NO purpose other than Olmert's to opine why this is the case. The urgent imperative is for all zionists-religious & secular-to band together to topple him. This would send a clear message to all that Olmert speaks for no one but his corrupt cronies, and that the Jews are alive and well in our homeland. Once a new Jewish national government is in place two things must immediately happen- the leadership must ANNUL any and all 'agreements' with the Fatah terrorists, and then the ENTIRE leadership must be placed on trial. Let the trials begin!
2. Whining In Sderot
Sandy ,   Canada   (01.22.08)
I can't believe the whining by this guy. His country carries out a brutal military occupation and builds on stolen land and he whines about how hard life is. There is a solution to this crisis that the whole Arab world and every other country in the entire world has agreed to and only his country refuses. Israel kills more Palestininans in two days than these pathetic rockets have killed in years.
3. never give in
bruce ,   ny   (01.22.08)
Please never give in, retaliate 10 fold on Gaza, or more if necessary. Blow them to kingdom come
4. Adina Kutnicki ,i absolutely agree with you
chaim ,   brooklyn n.y   (01.22.08)
agree with you 100%,but you left out something, after these criminally insane cowards will be put on trial for high treason, and if found guilty. the people of israel should do to them exactly, what the citizens of italy and france, did to their traitors, mussilini and marshall peitan, after world war two
5. Lets review the past 3 years.
Al   (01.22.08)
Israel ok'd the expulsion of Jews from their homes of thirty years and the smashing of heads of Jewish Kids in Amona. These two events were watershed events which signaled the end of what you may call the JEWISH STATE OF ISRAEL. This state has ceased to be .instead you have a pathetic sniffling state of Jews with no leadership and no direction. Much like the Warsaw Ghetto. Israel is under siege while the Arab hordes circle it waiting for its downfall. Ironic isnt it that these very same Kibutzim and Moshavim were so vocal in their demented and hatred filled lust to throw the Religious and nationalistic Gush Katif Jews to the dogs... Well, you can learn from Olmert...his wise words to you would be , "LEARN TO DUCK KINDERLEICH""
6. We hear complaining, but no solutions
David L.   (01.22.08)
Sderot residents basicaly just want rockets to stop falling. Israeli are angry at the government because that "are doing nothing". But really, what should they do? The real problem is the terrorists, after all. They are the ones shooting the rockets; not Olmert. So what is there to do? A military operation in Gaza? Nice idea in theory, but everyone in the IDF know it has absolutely no chance of success (not even mentioning that, once in Gaza, they will be faced with the same problem as 5 years ago) - and that's exactly why they did not launch it yet. Destroy all of Gaza? Really, you will kill hundreds of thousands of innocents just because 12 residents of Sderot died in the past 6 years? Oh, but they elected Hamas, you might say. Well, after 60 years of occupation, 7000 thousands settlers grabbing the best land while confining 1 million arabs in overcrowded slums, 60% unemployment, 80% need for foreign help for food, no control of the borders, ports or airports, can you really blame them? Furthermore, Hamas was not actually launching rockets before the IDF decided it would be a happy idea to drag them into the fight by killing some of their guys. Cut electricity, health supplies and food? Not only this will affect the weakest Palestinians, but also this idea is based on the mistaken idea that the Palestinians can be pushed even further down. Really, just look at Gaza today. How lower could that possibly go? The real solution is not simple, but is certainly more susceptible to work. First, cease fire. If nobody shoots first, then nobody shoots. Hamas would be quite happy with that, and if Islamic Jihad does not want, well that's Islamic Jihad's problem; don't blame that on Hamas and the rest of the Palestinians. Second, allow opportunity for a sustainable economy in Gaza by opening the crossings and the port. Screen all trucks or boats if necessary, but give them something else to build than rockets. Unemployment is the best recruitment factor for the terrorists. Third, talk directly with Hamas. Israel say it is impossible, but they never tried. Fourth, be patient. Extremism will die down if the economy is trong, people do not fell opressed, and no shooting occurs. This WILL NOT happen in 6 months.
7. CRAVEN CAPITULATION OF GOVT.
Aharon ben Yitzhak   (01.22.08)
Of course the brave souls in Sderot are under tremendous strain. What other country in the world would tolerate daily attacks on its citizen with the feeble ripostes that we have seen thus far. I recall Sharon saying that after we leave gaza if ONE ROCKET falls on Israel we will have carte blanche to respond. Another lie. Any self respecting govt. would state with no equivocation that it will respond in the same fashion that the Lebanese govt. crushed the revolt in the refugee camp. An attack on the citizens of a sovereign state must be immediately met with all available and necessary force. A slow advancing artillery barrage of Northern gaza with ample warning for all non combatants to leave and save their lives would solve the problem. Unfortunately the idea of deterrence seems to have been discarded. Olmert and Barak must go and leaders willing to stand up to the UN & EU and state the case that the lion of Judah will no longer docilely permit these attacks is desperately needed.
8. Attacks on a US or EU town would see a massive response
David ,   Houston   (01.22.08)
Try launching daily mortars from Mexico, or Canada into American towns and the launching zone would be wasteland withing one day! Try attacking France or Britain with with rockets and mortars and your launching areas would be a smoking ruin. This endless war of attrition is a victory for terrorism as politics, and would not be tolerated anywhere else on earth. Gaza should be bombed until it agrees to unconditional surrender, even one mortar is outrageous and intolerable.
9. Barak was directly responsible...
David ,   Houston   (01.22.08)
for Lebanon becoming a launching zone for thousands of missiles and mortars, now a continuation of his policy is resulting in thousands of mortars and rockets coming from Gaza. All he is doing is holding back the IDF which could end the attacks in a matter of hours.
10. Sderot should launch rockets and mortars at Gaza!
David ,   Houston   (01.22.08)
11. Shut It DOWN!!
Eli Freedman ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.22.08)
Last time, Ynet did not reprint this e-mail..but Ill try again... I know it's easier said than done and talking to the citizens of Sederot from Canada, but..... What needs to happen is MASS protests, SHUT down the City, take it to Jerusalem, en-mass if necessary, close down the main roads, in Tel-Aviv, wherever is needed. Stop paying your taxes, refuse to send your children to the Army, refuse to do "reserves", BY ALL MEANS to topple this criminally negligent goverment, that has abadoned you!! You MUST gather grass root support, from the ENTIRE Israeli political spectrum...Today the abadonment of Sederot, tommorrow Tzefat, THROW THESE ANTI-ZIONIST, MORALLY CORRUPT, CRIMINALLY NEGLIGENT individuals to the garabage heap. YOU DESERVE LEADERSHIP, VISIONARIES, STATESMEN, NOT talking heads, self inflated egotistic, political opportunist..But more important, LEADERS that CARE about the State of Israel , her citizens and security. WAKE UP ISRAEL!!!
12. hutzpah!
D. Olmert ,   Cremieux, Jerusalem   (01.22.08)
Eeki Elner has such Huzpah! President Shimon Peres has said that these Qassam Shmassams are meaningless. Peres won the Nobel prize for bringing Israel Peace. He certainly knows more than Elner. Also Ehud Olmert says that Sderot residents are happy. Olmert also told us that Israel defeated Hizbolla, that the violent transfer of Jews would bring peace, that the Amona pogrom was legal and that the Gush Katif refugees have been taken care of. Why would Olmert lie now?
13. one solution
orange ,   orange, orange   (01.22.08)
There is only one peaceful solution which is both logical and supported by the facts. Rebuild the Jewish communities in Gaza and Northern Samaria. Expand the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.
14. Kick them out
Arthur ,   Sydney   (01.22.08)
this weak and feeble Israeli govt is no longer a govt at all. Yes, kick them out and bring into office someone who can defend the people. By abandoning their own citizens, to appease the Israel-haters, they have lost their right to govern
15. Congratulations!
Daniel ,   Israel   (01.22.08)
To defence minister, chief of staff, army and Olmert, this is your collective achievement.
16. Settlers need to leave Palestine
Shulamit   (01.22.08)
It's no surprise that the settlers in Sderot are readly to leave. They know it isn't their home. They are occupying Palestinian land. The settlers should go back to Europe where they came from and return Palestine to its owners. End the occupation now!!!
17. Thank You Shulamit
Ephraim Rubinger ,   Miami, USA   (01.22.08)
Dear Shulamit, Thank you for telling and informing us of what the Left REALLY wants. At the outset is was the "right to criticize israel,", then it was "those damned settlers.". After that it was "the occupation" and now it is the the destruction of Israel. That has always been the Left's REAL agenda.
18. #16 - Shulamit, you must mean these settlers...
Joe ,   Los Angeles, CA   (01.22.08)
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3497487,00.html It's also no surprise that these settlers are ready to leave: http://news-for-jews.blogspot.com/2006/10/half-of-palestinians-under-30-would.html It's no surprise that the settlers in Israel are ready to leave. They know it isn't their home. They are occupying Jewish land. The settlers should go back to Syria where they came from and return Israel to its owners. End the occupation now!!!
19. No, Shulamit, YOU "go back to Europe"
Jake   (01.22.08)
My family lived in the region since time immemorial and were not in Europe, and owned land in "Palestine" before Arabs ever stumbled upon that name or the letter 'P'. As for the "settlers", they are merely joining those Jews who already lived in the land, already a majority in Jerusalem in 1860. They are returning to their homeland, much to your chagrin. Their entitlement to that land is merely in realizing it and acting upon it. You deny the inalienable right of the Jewish People to the Land of Israel, and therefore you have no right to that land. You are therefore a tresspasser and an occupier of the Land of Israel, and have no right to any part of it, not even a grain of sand on the beach at Tel Aviv. Be off with you and go back to your promised land Eretz Berlin.
20. Hold it right there Sandy! Let me get this
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (01.22.08)
straight. You live in Canada, right? Well tell me just who lived there before you?! That's right some Indian did. Give up your home and move elsewhere, then and only then you can point that accusing finger at someone else. HYPOCRITE, I typed it real big so you couldn't miss it!
21. # 16 European Sderot?
Thomas   (01.23.08)
"The first inhabitants of Sderot arrived in 1951 to what was then known as the Gevim-Dorot transit camp. Most of these residents were Kurdish and Persian refugees who lived in tents and shacks before building permanent structures almost four years later in 1954, with Sderot becaming the most easterly of the development towns in the northern Negev. In the 1961 census, the percentage of North African immigrants, mostly from Morocco, was 87% in the town, whilst another 11% of the residents were immigrants from Kurdistan.[1] In the 1950s, the city continued to absorb a large number of immigrants from Morocco and Romania, and was declared a local council in 1958." Go back to Europe?
22. #2, the thing that is Sandy
Mahlon Drumgoole ,   Newark NJ   (01.23.08)
Sandy, your post contained so many lies that it is obvious that you don't know the truth from your bigoted fantasies. First of all, these "athetic" rockets as you (it) call them have killed 16 Israelis. I know that you consider a dead Israeli (Jew) as nothing more than road kill but your outspoken depraved indifference to suffering of people who are living in a poor town is breathtaking. You talk about Israel doing something that every country in the world wants them to do. Exactly what is that? Is it that you believe that the world wants what you want---the destruction of Israel. It couldn't be the end of the Israeli occupation because Israel, in case you didn't know it, has totally left Gaza to the Palestinians. We all see what the Palestinians have done with this freedom. They are building a terrorist state that is a disgrace to civilization. Don't giv e me you nonsense about Israel controlling the borders. Gaza has a border controlled by Egypt. Obviously, you ant Israel to allow Hamas to import weapons and explosives without any interference from Israel. Things like you besmirch the earth.
23. sderot
Jill ,   USA   (01.25.08)
Sandy, your words could not be any more WRONG!!!! The people in Sderot are anything but whiners. I've been there last fall. I've seen the town, the people, the circumstances. It is awful what they've had to endure; and unless you live with sirens going off 24/7 (esp at night) and only have 20 sec to find shelter----dont you dare be critical or call them names.
24. I guess you don't know the truth
amir ,   Sderot   (02.11.08)
Sandy, your response makes me feel that you are either stupid or not too much educated..... I don't really know where you live in canada however, I hope that one day you will wake up to a reality inwhich rockets are landed on your hometown and who knows maybe will rip off your legs apart like the 8th year old boy whose legs are not recovered and most likely will never be able to walk again... before you justife these terror acts I do recommend you to know the facts... Sderot is an Israeli city that is located inside the Israeli territories. the Idf response only against missiles that are lunched against Israel
