1. Why Was She Silent When Kassams Fell On Sderot?
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.22.08)
That wasn't a "humanitarian" crisis? Maybe because the poor nebechs in Sderot are Jews, she kept quiet. Why do the words "double-standard" come to mind now?
2. Israel did NOT stop supplying electricity
chava ,   yerushalayim   (01.22.08)
Israel NEVER stopped supplying electricity. Israel provides the arabs in Gaza 70 percent of their electricity. This was NOT STOPPED despite the fact that those same arabs have been sending kassams at our cities and trying to hit the very plant in Ashkelon where the electricity is generated. Hamas turned off Gaza's electricity and then he and the media worldwide blamed Israel. Israel had indeed stopped supplying fuel to them, but they chose to turn off their electricity. (Israel has since begun again to supply diesel fuel.) Where are Israel's spokespeople?
3. We are getting screwed ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.22.08)
Olmert, Livni, & Barak have surrendered independence of action in our own self-defense to Ms Rice & the anti-Israel US State Dept. Our gov't. is the willing participant in a voyage to national suicide. There is only one way to express what is happening - we are getting screwed.
4. Ms. Rice why don't you just SHUT UP!!!
Judith   (01.22.08)
5. to play both ends against the middle
atilla karagözoğlu ,   Yeretz Ishmael   (01.22.08)
6. they asked this for themslves
Moses ,   Johannesburg, SA   (01.22.08)
they want diesel so don't supply, they want petrol in order to drive fast after they fired quassam missiles at innocent children.
7. Ms. Rice, with all Due Respect
Esther ,   Ofarim, Israel   (01.22.08)
Just remember: No Kassam - No Crisis. Concern yourself a little bit more about the continued aggression against Israel by a gang of Terrorists, instead of the feeble attempts of our incompetent, untrustworthy government to protect the citizens of Israel.
8. we have to ask ourselves why arabs dont help out gaza
(01.22.08)
why are we having to play wet nurse to all these people? where are the egyptiansm etc to help out the fellow men who are in gaza why did israal get stuck with these orphans of a people? they have the land now they dont make use of it in a postive way, what happens to all the money that is given to them to improve their lot they burn schools and make life horrible, it doesnt have to be that way
9. Another hasbara disaster for Israel
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (01.22.08)
As no decent PR firm would work for the Zionist cause Israel has to rely on dummies who should start off their career by reading 'how to win friends and influence people' which you don't do that by acting like you are in the process of flattening the Warsaw ghetto. What incompetents! Ha ha ha! And as for Marie Antoinette Olmert's "Let them walk" ... what can one say.
10. Terry #3: you are mistaken; Bush is the president.
Steve ,   Fla.   (01.22.08)
Condolezza Rice and the U. S. State Department are not setting policy Terry. George W. Bush is.
11. Qassams what? Never heard of it.
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (01.22.08)
Not the 22 member Arab Leage, not out dear peaceful friends Egypt and Jordan, not the UN, nor Rice ever heard of Qassams raining daily for years on Sderot, they heart only of Gaza without electricity and fuel. for 24 hours. Selective political deafneess should be bilateral. The Israeli government should call the UN what it really is SHMUM (Pffffff).
12. There is no crisis
(01.22.08)
13. #10 Terry
Bernie ,   Seattle, WA USA   (01.22.08)
Terry , you are misinformed, foreign policy especially regarding Israel has been under the control of the State Department since the days of the Dulles Brothers in collaboration with Jack Philby the father of famed communist spy Kim Philby. The Jew hating State Department has always sabotaged anything to do with Israel
14. Gazans refuse gas?
Petra ,   usa   (01.22.08)
creating their own shortages to blame Israel. Turn off the lights and call it a day. The crisis is a publicity stunt and the Gazans are too stupid to stop the rockets. Amazing.
15. Are there any "innocent" Gazans?
Jack ,   San Diego, USA   (01.22.08)
16. Human Rights Abuses
Richard ,   London UK   (01.22.08)
The Human Rights Council will hold a Special Session on Wednesday, 23 January at the request of the Group of Arab States and the Group of the Organization of Islamic Conference to consider and take action on "human rights violations emanating from Israeli military incursions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the recent ones in occupied Gaza and the West Bank town of Nablus". In order for a Special Session to be convened, the support of one-third of the membership of the Council (16 members or more) is required. The request for the Special Session was signed by the following Member States of the Council: Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, China, Djibouti, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Syria and Uruguay. The Special Session will start at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, 23 January in Room XVII. There is a possibility that it will continue on Thursday, 24 January. This will be the fourth Special Session which the Human Rights Council holds relating to Israel. The first one concerned Israel's military incursion in Lebanon and the other two related to Israel's actions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Council has also held Special Sessions on the situation in Darfur, Sudan and Myanmar.

Invicta ,   Europa   (01.22.08)
You are as benevolent and inspiring as ever. I wish you were my relative so I could bask in your humanity and erudition. The victims are the perpetrators. It's as simple as that?
18. #3 It's the BUSH Road Map, stupid
Marcel ,   Florida   (01.22.08)
Of course Terry has been under a strong delusion for as long as I've seen him post there. It considered a grave sin among Jews like Terry to say anything disrespectful of their god George whom they pray to daily So the president's secretary is as high up the chain of command that these blind wimps are willing to go. Is it any wonder there is no one in Israel to say no to god Bush and his Road Map ?
19. GFYS
(01.22.08)
20. suffering in Gaza
Maurice ,   Israel   (01.22.08)
to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and other statespersons around the globe: please ensure that in every mention and declaration referring to the humanitarian rights and suffering of the Gaza population that there is equal represention of those same rights for Israeli residents in Sderot, Ashkelon, and surrounding regions of Israel. The daily bombardment of Israeli citizens is not dismissable and moreover the Israeli defence establishment is obliged to protect its own citizens. No other country would do less.
21. One question
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.22.08)
Where is it written that a State has to sell products to another one ? Gaza is independant now , does'nt recognise Israel's right to exist , is declared an enemy "state" . So why should Israel sell them anything ? You gazans have voted for a governement , try to live with it !
22. Sec. Rice: Ask the Iraqis how much regular electricity they
Ms. Rice is useless! ,   USA   (01.22.08)
enjoy. Our troops over there have not been able to provide the Iraqi populace with basics like electricity, sewage treatment, clean water, etc. because they are concentrating on security and fighting Al Qaeda terrorism. And you, Ms. Rice, have the gall to be worrying about "humanitarian" issues in Gaza while rockets rain down on Israeli civilians? Gaza's citizens are indeed being held hostage, but by Hamas, not Israel; why should Gaza be the concern of Israel, who is trying to rid the region of Qassam rocket attacks and Palestinian snipers who fire on Israeli farm workers? You really need to think about these issues carefully before you make such superficial pronouncements. Go have a nice hug-fest with the candle-toting Gazans. You couldn't appear sillier and more ineffective!
23. We don't supply fuel and electricity to Mexico!
stupid dbl-standards ,   usa   (01.22.08)
Why should Israel be required to supply Gaza with anything? Mexicans don't fire rockets at Texas, but you can be damn sure that, If they did, Bush would be bombing the Mexcian border day and night without respite, and NOBODY would talk of "humanitarian" crises!
24. CUT EVERYTHING OFF PERMANENTLY
jack bauer   (01.22.08)
no free fuel no free electricity no free hospital care no free food no free water no free medicines no free guns no free bullets Why on earth would any sane nation give these things to an enemy state that fires daily rockets? Let the terror supporting gazans get EVERYTHING they need and want from their 20+arab sister states what a bunch of crybaby hypocrites
25. Educated beyond her intelligence...
Joe ,   Los Angeles, CA   (01.22.08)
Ms. Rice, how about urging Gaza to avoid a humanitarian crisis in Sderot? How far will that get you? Condi may hold a PhD, but she is obviously educated beyond her intelligence...
26. #23 you don't supply to Gaza; you block the supply to
(01.22.08)
27. Gaza "humanitarian aid"
Gramma ,   USA   (01.22.08)
Israel.....take back your God-given Land and obey His commandments. He will go before you!
28. #23
Invicta ,   Europa   (01.22.08)
because israel is occupying Palestinian land.
29. Invicta and the myth of occupation...
Joe ,   Los Angeles, CA   (01.22.08)
Read this link: http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_1967to1991_territories_occupied_or_not.php If, however, you choose to ignore the facts and insist that the territories are still occupied, you must also concede that Jordan is also 'occupying' Palestinian land- about 80% of it to be exact. Then again, Jordan was created by the British to be a national home for Palestinian Arabs. This would mean that Jordanians (who really are Palestinians) are occupying Palestine. According to your logic, Invicta, this is the case... You see, Invicta, 'occupation' sounds nice from a propaganda perspective, but when you subject it to analysis and research the factual and logical integrity behind it, it falls apart. Better luck next time, Invicta...
30. #29 Joe, read this
observer   (01.22.08)
United Nations Security Council Resolution 446 concerned the issue of Israeli settlements in the "Arab territories occupied by Israel since 1967, including Jerusalem". This refers to the Palestinian territories of the West Bank including East Jerusalem, Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights. In the Resolution, the Security Council determined: "that the policy and practices of Israel in establishing settlements in the Palestinian and other Arab territories occupied since 1967 have no legal validity and constitute a serious obstruction to achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East" The Resolution was adopted on March 22, 1979 at the 2134th meeting by 12 votes to none, with 3 abstentions (Norway, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America). Amir's mother says that her son is not guilty. But what you say about "a link of Palestine facts" which is Israeli?
