1) the arabs have 22 states and the Jews have one; Problem, not enough Arab states. 2) The Arabs have a Land mass 640 times larger than "greater Israel" Prblem; The Arabs do not have enough Land. 3) The arab population in and neigbouring Israel is 350 million. Israel has 5.4 million Jews. Problem; Not enough Arabs (and too many Jews.) P.S. Yesher Koach ; Vicky #29

Squalid Ibn Harman ,   Qtir   (01.22.08)
#1 Richard - Thank you for pointing out the hipocracy and irrelevance of the UN. Complicity in smuggling explosives into Gaza. No condemnation of the 70's hijackings The bombs in markets, The suicide bombers The stabbings The shootings The kidnappings The destruction of holy places The constant bombardment of Israelis or all the other terror. Instead the UN's only topic on the agenda is Israel bashing.
33. #29 Apparently?
Invicta ,   Europa   (01.22.08)
ACCORDING to the tradition recorded in the Hebrew Bible's book of Genesis (composed in the 9th/10th centuries BC) the Israelites descended from Abraham who is called a "wandering Aramean", whose family is associated with Aram-Naharaim, including the ancient places there, such as Haran and Teran in Turkey. After Abraham, the Israelites are SAID to descend through Isaac, born in the land of Israel, and then through their eponymous ancestor Jacob who is also known as Israel. Israel's sons often took Canaanite wives, adopting Canaanite customs. The BIBLE also describes a time when the Israelites relocated to Egypt, and following the Exodus back from Egypt, a time when they conquered (sometimes exterminating and sometimes absorbing) the ethnic groups there, reclaiming the land God promised them. It's all a myth, a biblical myth. No empirical truth whatsoever.
34. #29 more truths
Richard ,   London UK   (01.22.08)
In 1920, the Allied Supreme Council meeting at San Remo offered a Mandate for Palestine to Great Britain, but the borders and terms under which the mandate was to be held were not finalised until September 1922. Article 25 of the mandate specified that the eastern area (then known as Transjordan or Transjordania) did not have to be subject to all parts of the Mandate, notably the provisions regarding a Jewish national home. This was used by the British as one rationale to establish an Arab state, which it saw as at least partially fulfilling the undertakings in the Hussein-McMahon Correspondence. On 11 April 1921 the British passed administration of the eastern region to the Hashemite Arab dynasty from the Hejaz what later became part of Saudi Arabia as the Emirate of Transjordan and on 15 May 1923 recognized it as a state. Under the Mandate, Jewish immigration to Palestine increased substantially with a rise in Jewish nationalism, which encouraged Zionism, a return to the ancient land of the Jews. Between 1922 and 1946, Jews went from less than 11% to 33%[3] of the rapidly expanding population, due in part to an influx of Jewish refugees from Nazism in Europe and the refusal of the USA, France, Britain and other countries to allow Jewish immigration. Palestinian Arab leaders strongly opposed the immigration. In 1936, the British Peel Commission advised that the western part of Israel be divided between Arabs and Jews. The Arabs then launched the Great Uprising against British rule in an effort to end the immigration. The Jews, for their part, organized militia groups like the Irgun and Lehi to fight the British and the Haganah and Palmach to fight the Arabs. By the time order was restored in March of 1939, more than 5,000 Arabs, 400 Jews, and 200 Britons had been killed.

Tom ,   Jerusalem   (01.22.08)
Oh Tommy. It seems to me that your little mind is made up. English are we? Don't you think that after england's history of horrid war crimes and lack of any support for Jewish refugees in the 40's that you should just PULL YOUR HEAD IN!!!!!!!!
37. #1 Richard - We should learn from the Arabs
Squalid Ibn Harman ,   Qtir   (01.22.08)
As long as you go back to pre-48 history, lets not forget the massacres of Jews in 1920's, 1929, and 1936. Also the collaboration of Haj Amin al Husseini with Hitler in attempting to annihilate the Jews. After Arabs initiated the wars in 1948, 56, and 67 WE WON AND TO THE VICTOR GOES THE SPOILS. Many other countries have underwent wars and the borders are permanently changed as a result. Now that we see that HAMAS's charter calls for our destruction, we should learn from the Arabs and seek their total destruction. It is only fair. And now that they continue to bombard us, OUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY IS TO PROTECT OUR PEOPLE. Palestinian welfare is way down in the priorities. The have the ability to stop the siege if they stop the bombardment, but they prefer the propoganda and don't give a damn about their people. KILLING ISRAELIS IS PARAMOUNT TO ALL ELSE. And if they can't kill Israelis, then Fatah will do. The time has come to destroy all Gaza terrorists. Unfortunately we have an incompetent Olmert and Barak. But just like Intifada 2 put Arik Sharon in power, Olmert and Barak's time is drawing to a close and we will get responsible leadership who know how to prosecute a war and how to WIN.
38. Gaza & missile launchings
old curmudgeon ,   Los Angeles,CA. U.S.   (01.23.08)
It's about time that Israel speaks the truth to the U.N., which is dominated by Islamic and Arabist countries. Gaza is controlled by Hamas, and can stop the missile launchings in microseconds. If they choose not to do so Israel has no alternative but to respond, forcefully.
39. Peres' words should be pondered and considered wisely...
CitySearcher ,   Northern Maine, USA   (01.23.08)
Quote, " There is not one state in the world which will be fired on without retaliating. There is no excuse for the fire and no justification to ignore it." Israel does not need to bow itself to the demands of UN resolutions either...they are pro-arab resolutions, and most are completely unfair to Israel. History has etched in stone that most of the entire M.E. has been given to the Hebrew nation for an eternal possession. These words will not change...The promise will not change...The stones will soon speak the truth. Hamas, the Palis, the Syrians and the Iranians need to stop their belly-aching to the masses, and start helping themselves with all the oil money that has been flowing into the M.E., where are all the millions upon millions that have been funnelled into Gaza? Where are the farmers and engineers to bring about self-support.?
40. Keep Repeating .. Make it Viral
Christy ,   Boston, US   (01.23.08)
"The responsibility for the situation in Gaza lies unequivocally on Hamas' shoulders. There is not one state in the world which will be fired on without retaliating. There is no excuse for the fire and no justification to ignore it." Amen. Great quote to save and use. Place this statement on every internet forum anyone has access to. The more this is repeated, the better. I don't know if the dim-wits at the UN will 'get it', but spread it around enough so the 'Net 'gets it'. Let it bubble up from there.
41. Re #16 - YES!! Denounce The Occupation
Christy ,   Boston, US   (01.23.08)
Great Idea!! Denounce the Occupation!!!! NO non-Jews occupying Ancient, Historic Jewish Land! Jews have the RIGHT to Israel from G-d, which is the only right they need, as far as I'm concerned. However, for the non-believers, Israel has the RIGHT to this land from man (UN), and because of being the victor in wars. Stop the Occupation of Jewish land, by the non-Jews. Those non-Jews who keep insisting the land is THEIRS, should be driven off. As poster #16 stated, perhaps the non-Jews who won't leave Israel should be charged with war crimes.
42. #31 Choni and his relativity problems
observer   (01.23.08)
#31 Choni and his relativity problems Well the Jews can go back to Russia, US and even Arab countries were they came from, of course those countries has vast expanses of land, more states and more population than those tiny Arab countries. To make it easy for the Jews they can use their non-Israeli passports and dual citizenship they are still keeping for such an event!
