35. This is a great opportunity for the Bold
Jack ,   USA   (01.23.08)
Israel should immediately fight to secure this crossing, keeping out those 350K who crossed, this will not be easy lots of civilians and lots of collateral damage, but this should be done. You should also assume iif 350K went out countless teror soldiers and weapons have entered. This is a Bold move, and the UN and world will certainly condem Israel but when have they not. Now is the time if there was any decisiveness but there is none, only defeatest, left leining, dem types. We need Netanyahu and Arens in Israel and Gullini as Pres, Gingrich VP and Bolton sec state in the US.
36. Egypt and Israel
Jim ,   Cicago   (01.23.08)
Egypt is treating their Gazan Arabs better than Israel it treating Sederot Jews. At least Egypt is moving long range rockets to Gaza to promote their Arab interests. What is Israel doing?
37. great start!
oded   (01.23.08)
the arabs in gaza are practically egyptians anyway.. why should israel waste its resources to take care of them? arabs to arabia is th the only solution to this!
38. Egypt's Problem
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.23.08)
Before 1967, Gaza was a part of Egypt. Since the Six Day War, Egypt has refused to receive Gaza back and has refused to take responsibility for it. Now they have this headache. Maybe the Gazans should all march to Cairo?
39. PERFECT!!!!!
Alberto ,   nyc, usa   (01.23.08)
Don't let them back in! Let them stay in Egypt.
40. Gaza Border Wall
Dan ,   Titusville, FL USA   (01.23.08)
Gaza has no legal Government. While the Palestinians are in Egypt, now is the time to retake Gaza and seal the border between Gaza & Egypt. International law allows this action to stabilize anarchy.
41. Great news - hope they settle in the Sinai
Barry ,   Tokyo   (01.23.08)
Now that Egypt has let the Palis in, they could easily let them settle there forever.
42. Zak
BRL ,   USA   (01.23.08)
"Jewish occupation in Palestine is running its course and will quickly come to a screeching halt, letting justice take its course." There might not be any Pals left in Gaza by the time this "Runs its course"
43. They were starving...
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (01.23.08)
Yeah right, they can eat the big-screen TV's they were carrying.
44. WOW
Ali ,   Ramallah, Falsteen   (01.23.08)
KUL Hakavood, Gaza people. They will bring more and more TRUE weapons and teach Israel a big lesson. Thanks, Egyptian brave brothers and soldiers.
45. quite simple really
Volvi   (01.23.08)
Israel should now hermetically seal gaza off, no goods, no electricity, no nothing. Now that they have an open border with theyre beloved brothers the egyptians they can go get whatever supplies they want from them. Most will probably want to a find a way off the peninsula and get out the area all together, they know theres no future for them in gaza only more war. watch gaza strips population be decimated as they seek to live anywhere else but the gaza area. Its all good and has nothing to do with us, its egypts problem.
46. #38 Gazans are welcome
observer   (01.23.08)
during the second Intifada, we; my mother - elderly widow - my sister and me donated a sum of money to buy food for Gazans. We would see scores of trucks carrying food supplies donated from ordinary fellahin (farmers) converging from the roads of the villages around my town in rout to Gaza. I raised the Palestinian flag on my house. In 1948, my Grand mother a house wife & farmer used to tour the nearby villages to raise funds for the Palestinians. Yes, any time, any time, the Palestinian are welcome in Egypt.
47. It would be a WarCrime to stop IranoHamas Control SuezCanal
Alan ,   SA   (01.23.08)
Hamas will control East Bank of Suez Canal .Their Iranian Godfathers must be congratulated on a brilliant strategy .President Mubarak must be shaking in his boots. Those Babies with big round Bambi Eyes and Candles did a great PR job. They took attentionwhile the Gazans were oxy-acetylening that metal fence for WEEKS
48. That's how they started, as Egyptians
steve from raleigh   (01.23.08)
Egypt got rid of its own Palestinian underclass in 1967 by simply walking away from Gaza after it forced its Palestinians to live there in the first place. Now they're all being repatriated home again. Hang an Egyptian flag once again over Gaza and be done with it.
49. These "victims" voted for their fate
Ivan ,   New York   (01.23.08)
Sure, gunmen have power in Gaza, but the people approved that the gunmen should rule them. They don't rally against rockets, as they should. They stay quiet and their silence shows consent of the rockets, so take the punishment you all deserve.
50. Anton, freedom is and always has been a palestinian blunder
Jared ,   Orlando US   (01.23.08)
until that changes, they make their own prison and their own bed in which they sleep
51. Seems like a great time
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.23.08)
to let Egypt support them all the way. Barak close the border again, but this turn off everything. No water, no power, no food, and no Israeli hospitals. Their Egyptian 'brothers' can deal with them.
52. This is
Zeal ,   Zionist America   (01.23.08)
the best news all year, different from the usual "Israel kills..."; freed are hundreds of thousands of prisoners who were literally dying of starvation. LONG LIVE THE RESISTANCE! LONG LIVE PALESTINE!! LONG LIVE HUMANITY!!!
53. Ha!, #2. They didn't come from there.
JewishDragonfly ,   Torrance, CA, USA   (01.23.08)
They didn't come from Jerusalem or Haifa; most of them came from Egypt in the first place. Let them stay there.
54. to 51

55. Great

They were Jordanian problem, Lebanese problem, they're Israel's problem and now they will become Egypt's problem as well.
56. Need help understanding this
Alexander ,   Toronto,Canada   (01.24.08)
I am far from the conflict in Gaza and the thing I don't understand is this:Egypt and Gaza have common border. How come Egypt does not send oil and food to Gaze. Can anyone explain this?
57. Absence of Courage Israel Held Hostage
Stephen E Hughes ,   Soda Springs USA   (01.24.08)
The Gaza Crisis, Has not Hamas not openly declared war on Israel, in the news media, time and time again ? Have they not refused peace ? Israel military actions are forced actions, the Hamas has embraced the demons of war, conducts genocidal terrorist campaigns, conducts indiscriminate missile barges into Israel everyday. They have taken the Gaza and fashioned a place of infestation of Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Iranian Qods Forces and other terrorists entities. At every turn the Hamas builds and has built entire network above ground, below ground , spends millions of dollars for one purpose and one purpose only..war with Israel. The Hamas Leadership hides behind the Palestinian Civilian population of Gaza. Using the Palestinians as mere pawns. If any of them are killed , the Hamas could care less. It only gives the Hamas Leadership to play their propaganda, “of see what Israel is doing, Israel is the cause of all of this,”. The most frightening aspect is that Washington Officials along with the International Community falls for this ploy, and condemns Israel for trying to prevent, stop these rocket barrages. Yet the Hamas a terrorist entity holds Israel hostage. The Hamas has succeeded in its 4GW of propaganda, it plays the victim, a terror organization, launching hundreds of missiles indiscriminately into Israel, openly before the very eyes and ears of the International Community. Terrorists are in control, and holding the Nation of Israel hostage, Israel is told you cannot protect your children your homes, you must die in place. What is the first and only causality of the Gaza Crisis ? You do not stop a disease or stop a crisis by dealing with the symptoms, the after effects, you stop the causality, the genesis , the architect of the Crisis, and it is not Israel, it is Hamas. Until the architect, of the Gaza crisis is addressed, held responsible, the Gaza Crisis will explode into a catastrophe.. However Israel shows an absence of courage, the Nation of Israel is held hostage of terrorism, Israeli Leaders are willing to allow the Nation of Israel to become a death camp,
58. #56, because...
tsvi ,   Brun, USA   (01.24.08)
...Gaza's borders are enforced by Israel and Israel is an occupying force. I wish them all well, but the rest of the world, especially the USA, should end all aid to them all and let them sort it out.
59. #27 malignant-hearted observer: are you insane?
dante ,   uk   (01.24.08)
really, not a question. "driven to the slaughter"? what slaughter. the popular government of gaza have subjected Israeli civilians to deliberate and unprovoked attacks in response to which Israel has imposed modest sanctions against the government that carries out the attacks. AND THIS FOOL CRITICIZES ISRAEL!!!! amazing. as schiller said: mit der domheit kampfen gotter selbst vergebens.
60. To Dante #59
Zeal ,   Zionist America   (01.24.08)
"what slaughter. the popular government of gaza have subjected Israeli civilians to deliberate and unprovoked attacks" I think that you are suggesting that Gazans "deserve" their punishment for electing the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas); if so, then, by the rule of collective punishment (an outlawed practice) applies to Israelis who support these repressive policies on Gaza (and not exactly a political party). "in response to which Israel has imposed modest sanctions against the government that carries out the attacks" I'm afraid, my friend, that you are quite confused. Let me help you out: sanctions on Gaza began shortly after Hamas won the parliamentary elections. They are punishing Hamas for being popular. And, uh.... if preventing food, medicine, fuel, stealing tax revenues, closing borders, such that the restrictor starves the restricted places, then that would be considered "modest sanctions." I would like to see you last three days enduring these "modest sanctions"- I hope you'll find it a learning experience. Thank you and have a great day.
