While there are certainly disadvantages to the open border, washing our hands of Gaza certainly has advantages. Of course, counting on our gov't to do anything intelligent would be expecting far too much.

OK, they've been demanding that Israel return to the borders that pre-existed the Six Day War of 1967. If that's what they want, recall the status of Gaza at that time. Gaza was under Egyptian military control. It was the source of attacks on Israel by Arab militants (sorta' like today but without rockets). And it received no support of any kind from Israel... no fuel, no electricity, no food, no medical supplies or care. That all came from Egypt. Israel bears no responsibility for Gazan welfare. Israel IS responsible for protecting its citizenry from the depredations that Gaza presents.

But this is a purposedly fueled crisis! It is beyond any reasonable understanting...: There are at least 100 EU,UN "observers"at Rafah crossing. Can somebody explain to me what are they being exactly paid for?What exactly "the international community" is paying for?What are they observing? Maybe they are observing to be sure gazans don't leave their open air prison in search for a better life in Egypt? Are they maybe observing if the weapons and the "fertilizaded aid"is entering the strip with efficency in order to keep the hell alight? What the hell is going on? Why gazans are not permited to leave for Egypt and get a better life and why the hell is even olmerdD helping to be sure the hell will keep going on? Why olmerD and likes keep a symbiotic relantionship with dangerous enemies instead of RESOLVING the situation ,assuring to Israeli population a normal and sane life? Why the hell they keep this surrealistic hell in Israel ,damaging the lives of the whole Jews, not only in Israel but in the world? Why the hell they don't choose sanity instead of DEMENCY? And why the hell the "international conmunity"don't use the pornographic amount of money they are wasting for the common tax-payer in fuelling a hell,to buy lands in arab countries for these savages and teach them farming or any other profession in order to give them life and pull them out of hell? WHY THE HELL?WHY? Isn't about the time to live in the real world and not in the fantasic horror world some are used to create?
