peudo is not a religion and may be he is wron /as he judge the all by the one /and this is not logic also / so this ghandi has no religion nor logic
32. Sorry for Bringing Up the Holocaust
Thomas   (01.28.08)
Millions of innocent people were murdered by European Christians less than a hundred years ago and they are tired of hearing about it. Mind you, the story of one Jew who died two thousand years ago, needs to be repeated everyday for another 2,000 years. I wonder if Mr. Ghandi would have the nerve to walk into a black church and ask that they should stop bringing up slavery and the KKK, because it upsets white people and accuse them of causing white racism against them. Naaaaaa

Gandhi is wrong to lump "the Jews" -- that is, all Jews everywhere -- together with the Israeli regime as leading perpetrators of violence in the world. That is the rawest anti-Semitism. Still, Gandhi might have very correctly pointed out that every member of the Israeli regime perpetrating violence in Palestine is Jewish, every elector supporting this regime is Jewish and every soldier manning checkpoints and raiding villages is Jewish. What conclusions might be drawn from such an observation? Would such an observation constitute anti-Semitism?

He's no Dr. but, could use one. Maybe a good Jewish Dr?

Such an observation might be construed as anti-Semitic simply because it is false. Casting aspersions about groups of people based on ignorance is to prejudice individual human beings- this is the starting point for bigotry and hatred. There are non-Jewish members of the Israeli cabinet, non-Jewish supporters of the political parties which make up the governing coalition and non-Jewish soldiers serving in the Israeli Defence Forces. Based on your logic we might also say that Palestinians have it coming to them since they voted for a Hamas government. After all, every member of the Palestinian regime is Palestinian, every member of the Hamas army and other terrorist groups are Palestinian, as are the voters who elected them. The point is to look beyond these simple-minded formulations and look at ways in which we can overcome the mutual distrust and hatred. Thinking like you do is not very helpful/ Would you care to apologise?

As someone who grew up in the U.S., I wonder what you're talking about. Your post shows me that you don't have any idea what the KGB and Stasi were all about either.
37. Mahatma Gandhi only acted in the interest of his own people
Suetonius ,   Sweden   (01.28.08)
The anti violence policy of Gandhi was commendable. However he is not exactly the biggest of heroes according to hypothetically objective leftwing standards. From a hypothetical objective left wing perspective those western leaders who have given away their peoples land and acted against their own peoples interest should be considered as greater heroes. Leaders such as Churchill, De Gaulle, Begin, Sharon etc. However since they have been the most european part in their conflicts the demands are much much higher.
38. Ghandi was also anti Zionist
Shulamit   (01.29.08)
Mahatma Ghandi was also anti Zionist and never supported the establishment of a Jewish state. Perhaps people should notice the entire peace movement is anti Zionist. Peace activism is the opposite of zionism
39. He's wrong about Hitler...
Adam   (01.29.08)
He says the Holocaust was a result of one warped individual, but what about the millions of Germans, Poles, Russians, Hungarians, etc...who went right along blaming the world's ills on the Jews? Does it not parallel the billion muslims who feel the world will be better off without any Jews? This grandson of Ghandi is talking truths only a weak willed leftist could believe - why is the center for nonviolence in Rochester NY and not Gaza?
40. If it wandles & quacks, it must be a...
B. Landau ,   USA   (01.30.08)
If it waddles & quacks, it must be a duck. Well, if it sounds like an anti-Semite, uses anti-Semitic phrases & repeats the arguments of anti-Semites, then he must be one. I won't repeat his remarks but it wreaks of the phrases of the KKK & the Arab propaganda machine.
41. Ben #6: You are spot on! If more people knew the truth ...
Stewart ,   USA   (01.30.08)
about Gandhi, an ideolog, they would not hold him in such high esteem. Not only did he advise Churchill to surender to Hitler, he told his incarcerated wife to refuse a medicine. The refusal cost her her life. Later he was in the same situation, but he took the medicine and save his own life. Gandi also believed that Hindu's could live in peace with Muslims, but anyone who reads the news from India, sees that violent conflicts still erupt over religious sites. Moderate Indian Muslims are not the problem, but the others are. Hinduism is a tolerant religion, but Islam is not inherently a tolerant religion. Gandi's pacifism only works if the other party is willing to adopt the same for the sake of peaceful coexistance. If they are not, they the pacifist usually loose out to their aggressive opponents.
42. Freedom of speach anyone???
Adam ,   Toronto   (02.17.08)
What ever happened to freedom of speech?? The man voices his opinion on the Israeli over aggressive attitude towards its neighbors and he is forced to resign?? What happened to debate?? Why is the Jewish lobby in the US using its iron fist to crush anyone that criticizes Israel?? Is this really what democracy is about??
