Jack ,   USA   (01.30.08)
What are you talking about, every rocket that continues to fall, to allow the terrorists into Gaza and give them weapons, it is the people of IIsrael that neeed to breath easy and when they get a responsibile govt that will stand up to the terrorist perhaps they can, Olmert and his cronys need to go.
2. Report
Dennis ,   US   (01.30.08)
Olmert as PM should have known state of IDf and thoroughly gone examined plans and execution. He has been in the government under Sharon so he was no babe in the woods. He made boasts and did not see to the proper execution of the war.He is the commander in chief. He bungled his responsibilities.
3. Attila Somfalvi=olmert new spin doctor

7. Complete rubbish
Freejay ,   Israel   (01.31.08)
Under the abysmal conditions, the IDF did a fantastic job which no one can deny. To blame the IDF is absolutely disgusting and a total whitewash of the facts. Inept Olmert is the only one to blame, and not only should be sacked as PM, but should be sent to jail for treason. He is ruining this country through appeasement, lies and deceit. Elections NOW!
8. so far no country has had much success against guerrilla
debra ,   usa   (01.31.08)
fighters. the usa failed in vietnam even as we dropped more bombs on north vietnam than were dropped by the allies in all of wwll. hezbullah, before the 2nd lebanon war, went to vietnam and inspected and studied the tunnels the vietcong used to fight against the usa. israel was not correctly prepared to fight the islamic fascist guerrilla fighters in urban lebanon. new military thinking and tactics have to be developed by israel, to win against the hizbullah terror guerrillas. talk with the leaders who were at the pentagon during vietnam. and go to vietnam and speak with the north vietnam vietcong and learn how they won against the usa by using tunnels and entire underground cities. israel can get the job done and will win any future battle against hizbullah!
9. fringe benefit
Michael ,   Haifa   (01.31.08)
In any politically civil society, Olmert would have resigned, but we don't live in such a society. The only fringe benefit is that we don't get the Likud hooligans and their allies in the immediate future
10.  ! WE ARE TIRED OF OLMERT !
AVROHOM BILGREI ,   zion   (01.31.08)
“We are tired of fighting, we are tired of being courageous, we are tired of winning, we are tired of defeating our enemies, we want to be able to live in an entirely different environment of relations with our enemies." Ehud Olmert June 2005 address to the Israel Policy Forum in NeW York

12. THE TRUTH(edited)
Ezra HaLevi ,   ZION   (01.31.08)
Winograd Report: Grave Errors, Lack of Strategy The final report of the Winograd Committee was delivered to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert Wednesday evening. It found "serious faults and defects in the decision making processes in both the political and the military levels and the interface between them" in the course of the Second Lebanon War. "Israel entered a prolonged war that ended without a clear victory militarily." "Partially responsible was the weakness projected by the political echelon." The committee does not mention PM Olmert by name. It says it did so in order not to deter any future prime minister from making tough decisions during war time. Report Summary "It should be emphasized that the fact that we avoided laying personal blame does not mean that there was no such blame The decision to go to war was made without strategy. The government delayed and ended up in a drawn-out conflict with ground-troops unprepared for deployment until the very end. They go to some length to distinguish "failure" from mere faulty judgment * The army was cited for a lack of organization of ground forces and failure to request the call-up of the reserves for a ground invasion until the first week of August. The report said that the final ground operation was "practically a necessity." it was not conducted properly and therefore did not contribute anything positive. The committee went so far as to say that "the IDF's most basic values came undone in the war. The report cites a connection between the aversion to suffering casualties and a feeling that the missions were routine security missions (batash) as opposed to actual warfare. * There were severe failures in the defense of the home front. Conclusion Winograd summed up his 30-minute oral summary of his commission's report on the Second Lebanon War with a statement that Israel "cannot survive in this region unless the people within it and outside it believe that it has political leadership, military capabilities and social strength that will enable it to prevent their enemies from realizing their goals – even by force." This basic truth, the committee states, is common to all political approaches. "Attempts to reach peace or an agreement must come from a place of military might and of ability and willingness to fight for the country, its values and residents," the committee stated. "This has deep ramifications, well beyond the Second Lebanon War," it said. Cabinet Secretary Oved Yechezkel told Army Radio shortly after the press conference that Olmert has no plans to step down. IDF Response IDF officials are noting that the army has not waited until the publication of the report to take action to correct its mistakes in the war. More than 70 committees were appointed within the IDF to examine various aspects and make recommendations that are already being implemented. Those recommendations match those reached by Winograd, for the most part. IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi has appointed a special team to read the Winograd Commission's report on the Second Lebanon War and to come up with conclusions and recommendations. The crew includes the IDF Spokesman, the Chief Military Attorney and three members of the General Staff. The Winograd Committee The Winograd Committee was appointed and hand-picked by Prime Minister Olmert as a compromise response to demands for a State Commission of Inquiry, which would have had more authority to investigate and use its results in court proceedings.. "Only a commission of inquiry headed by a judge with legal jurisdiction appointed by the president of the Supreme Court, not by the prime minister, is the solution." (M.Q.G.)
13. You need to will to let them win
Jack ,   USA   (01.31.08)
When you ask your trrops to fight you must not tie there hands, let them fight boldly, let them employ every weapon, let them rain down fear on Israel's enemies, let them destroy the tunnels where ever they are including Hospitals, schools etc. It is the terrorist fault if they fight and attack next to or on the grounds of apartment buildings. Deal with the Media with your PR teams but do not restain your men. That is why Olmert and his Kadima, Labor must go. Fight to win, fight to make them fear you.
14. #8 debra....read General Giap's writings
jack bauer   (02.01.08)
He notes there that the americans were never defeated on the feild of battle in vietnam. He notes that B52s were doing an awesome job. He notes the mining of the harbour in Haiphong. He states clearly that when the USA had them on the ropes, and they were contemplating a ceasfire and surrender....... The traitors in America along with the media made the situation unbearable He states clearly that if the USA had done what they could have.....the communists there would have been easily defeated. The situation is/was fighting with one hand tied behind ones back Unless that hand is untied, the situation is bound to repeat itself.
15. postwinograd
marcel   (02.01.08)
Winograd and Haaretz members can feel good after clearing our great hero Olmert for launching in good faith a plan that had no chance--this is what Winograd said was almost necessary--Mofaz had said to fake an invasion to gain diplomatic leverage. So Winograd absolves Olmert of launching a stupid plan because he meant well. What a stupid committee!! Then they vaguely said that the political leaders didn't coordinate with the IDF-no kidding. Haaretz blocked any anti-Olmert talkbacks , pilloried the Likud and wrote glowing tributes to Olmert by his flunkees the =convicted Ramon, and ass kissers hasson, bar -on, boim and others. Here it is, Hezbollah is the top terror army in the world, well dug in, boobby trapped with rockets and anti-tank weapns. Normal air power and ground forces would not work. They have to be hit in a precise way and flooded and gassed out of their bunkers. IDF has to use terror rockets to counter and human shields.
16. breath easily!!??
sad ,   israel   (02.01.08)

17. BREATHE EASY
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (02.01.08)
Easy to say, but not for our bereaved parents who's childeren died and for the many wounded and maimed soldiers. Not that Ynet and its euro trash idol worshippers give a hoot. Now writing this, makes the change that this writing will pass our own bolshewick censors slim. But one must give it a try anyway. In honesty it won't make much of difference, we are in the hands of some real ruthless people be it our government or their lackies the media boys. Truth be said that Bibi is no alternative either, we are between a rock and a hard place. What is it going to take to have us ,the majority get off our butts and kick these people out before its to late. It is becoming more apparent that we live in a corrupt banana repulic wit a bunch of crooks at the helm.
18. All hail Olmert - king of the Bog
Mike Darnell ,   Jerusalem Israel   (02.02.08)
As Olmert is saved someone else must suffer - it's called cosmic balance. The maiden chosen for sacrifice is called "Moral Standard" and her family is already far to familiar with sacrifice. Here is a poem I wrote in consolation... King Bog \ Mike Darnell They come from shack and hovel to snivel and to grovel at the feet of the great man of the bog He enjoys his social status as Magistrate and Magus and feeds of their devotion, like a hog He corrupts they're sons and daughters and defiles their wells and waters Their cup of sorrow is always full right to the rim To prevent they might get wiser he keeps them working Pro Patria und Kaiser both conveniently figments of his whim And should one of them provoke him He’ll simply spit-and-roast them and feed them to the pack that named him King!
