2. NO OLMERT!
(01.31.08)
YOU WILL FAIL AGAIN, SOMEONE ELSE WILL FIX YOUR MISTAKES! GO HOME FOR ISRAEL'S SAKE! DON'T YOU GET IT?!
3. To #1 Fadi - No need - the Arabs will defeat themselves!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.31.08)
Just look around the Middle East Fadi and wake up. You own are killing their own. Israel just has to sit back and watch! It’s time for your “heroes” to stop and think and realize that their warped and sick hatred of Jews and Israel is destroying Islam. Just look at Gaza. Israel withdrew and handed the Palestinians a viable area which could have been developed into one of the best tourist resorts in the world. What did your people do - destroy everything. The Palestinians are living in squalor and poverty because they do not know how to build - just to destroy. They get what they deserve!
4. Missed opportunity
Doudi ,   Germany   (01.31.08)
I've seen this headline in a couple of places. What exactly is the missed opportunity Winograd has been talking about? It sounds as if we missed something important.
5. The Winograd report misses one important point
David G.   (01.31.08)
An that point is Hezbollah. The government, the IDF and the Israeli public spent much time int the past year trying to find out what went wrong with their army or political figures. Nobody raised the possibility that, in fact, correct decisions were made, but Hezbollah was just too strong. The problem does not have to be entirely on the Israeli side. In fact, this is probably one of the main failures of the IDF. The constant view in the army that any arab oponents are just "a bunch of terrorists", easy to kill because the IDF has planes and tanks, while terrorists only have rifles, is probably one of the most important failures of this war. Understandably, this perception has been maintained by the easiness with which the IDF kills palestinian terrorists - although, it is worth mentionning that no solutions to Qassams have been found yet. If the IDF had learned to respect Hezbollah - not in the sense of approval, but in the sense of appreciating their strenght - then maybe the war would have been led differently. If they had respected Hezbollah, they would have understood that Hezbollah, too, had battle plans. That Hezbollah, too, had been preparing for year for that confrontation. In the IDF's mind, it was unthinkable to even suggest that Hezbollah could hit a ship, down an helicopter, and destroy Merkava tanks. Or launch missiles at Haifa. The IDF should have told the public: "Our enemy is strong. We will need to go with massive ground forces, and the fight will be tough and cause hundreds of casualties, but the fight is necessary". Instead, the IDF made a press briefing 48 hours in the war, after a few airstrike, claiming that "50% of Hezbollah was now destroyed". This war could have been won, if the IDF and the government had apperciated Hezbollah's strenght, and prepared battle plans in consequence.

You are right - we don't need to defeat the Arabs - they are self-defeating because they only want war not peace!
7. Best correction........
Avraham ,   Western Negev   (01.31.08)
New elections to replace Olmert & his gang of incompetent fools.
8. Government's failure
Debra ,   UK   (01.31.08)
Government's political agenda is the cause. Can a cause correct its effect?
9. Olmert
D ,   USA   (01.31.08)
No, Olmert The problem is fundamental. The self-destructive left (represented by Meretz, Labor ,Kadima, Peace Now)using the media, was allowed to destroy the jewish values in Israel. Patriotism is discouraged, to be replaced by cinicism, worship of the individual gain and comforts. the Army is undisciplined, poorly trained and demoralized. (just look how soldiers are dressed, it is pathetic!). The whole current leadership, represented by Sharon and his sycophants have lost their way. There is a malaise in the israeli society itself, who no longer believes that Israel is the homeland of all Jews. What is needed is a complete makeover. All current government people, represented by Olmert and many Knesset members as well, will need to resign in shame and not be allowed "to correct the failings". After all, they are the cause of this situation.

GOD   (01.31.08)
"And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.(Zechariah 14:12)
