1. hezbollah will never learn
jared ,   orlando US   (01.31.08)
this is how a true democracy functions not by the foolish proclamations and propaganda hezbollah utilizes daily into manipulating the public and exploiting the media Standing up to a fraction of israeli military force for a few weeks and not getting utterly obliterated and certainly not winning is no accomplishment, esp when the costs on their end are tabulated.
2. Desperate for "victory" ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.31.08)
Coming from those that have accomplished so little in modern times, who have basically failed in adapting to the modern world since 1500, we can all take these claims of victory as kind of pathetic. When you look at the lack of progress, politically, economically, socially, in most Arab countries, I guess you have to grasp at anything to pretend to some "victory". Aside from a few pockets of prosperity comprising a few percent of the Arab population, the region is mired in poverty, illiteracy, & religious unrest. Our society, for all it's ills, is strong enough to take self-criticism. While our political system leaves much to be desired, we are a far cry from the stagnant despotisms in the region. That they need constantly boast of false victories because of the inherent fragility of their political systems, we can afford to publically examine our performance. We can all have a laugh at their empty boasting .....
3. Victory.
Harold Lane ,   Tel Aviv   (01.31.08)
Victory is the key word not peace, because peace is not an option in this part of the world, and because there is only one solution to terror : a military solution. You do not talk to terrorists, you fight and defeat them. Victory is needed to prove to the Muslims in general and the Arabs in particular that against their ethos of death stands the ethos of life, protected by the arms of democracies that are resolved to punish them where it hurts most as explained at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/01/stop-them-with-clear-cut-victory-part-i.html
4. Binary logic
Xaxam ,   Rio de Janeiro   (01.31.08)
The arab logic is completely transparent, - if your enemy is at loss, this means that you win (and vice versa). In other words, the Arabs profess that same zero-sum-game credo that is so vehemently denied by Israeli peace-makers. We are told fairy tales about steps that will benefit both sides, - but by the same token these steps will be perceived by Arabs as bad for them, no matter what are the real gains.
5. For living the hezbollah leadership alive,
jason white ,   afula,israel   (01.31.08)
olmert and his gang should be punished. For not totally destroying lebanon and gaza they should be punished. I will only vote for a political party that has as its' platform trying and imprisoning all the political "leadership" that failed us in the war. All the political, military and ministry of finance members that cut the army budget, cut training, did not maintain shelters, ect. Perhaps prison is not enough punishment?
6. Arabs don't give a damn about your crap !
(01.31.08)
7. Let them "rejoice". I wish them a lot of similar "victories"
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.31.08)
"The report confirms that the Israelis failed in the war and that Hizbullah won..." Well, not exactly my moron Hezbollah demagogues! In war, if one side "loses" it dos not necessarily means that the other side has won. Hezbollah also failed in ALL its purposes, namely to bomb Tel-Aviv and being surpriseed that Israel went for an all-out war against it. They did not foresee that Israel will go up to Beirut and wipe out their stronghold there. Have they all forgottee how many times the Butcher from Beirut promised "surprises" again and again only to have all his long range rockets and drones reduced to dust? Have they forgotten how many arch-terrorist leaders were killed by the Israeli commados? What about the devastation of their opulent Headquarters in Beirut? What about the devastation of their infrastructure in Southern Lebanon? And they call it "victory"? What about the UN unanimous resolution 1701 which saved their asses from total extintion and blamed THEM for the war? I wish them many more victories like these! Behind the facade of joy and "vindication", Hezbollah and the Muslim world knows quite well that the mistakes we made this time will not return. The next war - that will certainly come - will surprise them again, but this time it will be even more painful for the Arab or Persian enemies who will engage in any such adventure based on their reckelss self-lie that Hezbollah won anything during the war. As for the Amnesty International "war crimes" libel: what about checking on some ARAB and MUSLIM WAR CRIMES for a change? Plenty of them in Sderot, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Pakistan - in all the Muslim heavens? What about Hezbollah using civilians as human shields (against the Geneva Convention guideleines)? What about firing into Israeli CIVILIAN cities? But what can you expect from an organization run by racist Islamo-Leftists? I am proud that I belong to a nation who can look in the mirror and learn from its mistakes. This makes us even stronger.
8. #2 WELL SAID!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.31.08)
9. just like in '67?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.31.08)
in '67, the greatest victory celebrations were in cairo, not jerusalem. hezbollah desperately needs to justify its mistakes before its own followers and the lebanese public in general. those mistakes got a lot of people killed. this "victory" lost them their arsenal, most of their fighters, and their political position in the government. a year and a half later, most of it is still in shambles. and it also cost them their freedom of movement in southern lebanon, as well as their freedom of action from their iranian masters. and it cost them their support across the arab world, as most sunnis saw them for the threat that they are. so, just like in '67, all that is left is to keep claiming a great and glorious victory, because such is arab self-delusion!
10. thinking out of the box
Ypip ,   Canada   (01.31.08)
Avoid hamster wheels.
11. #4 What is your logic ??????????
(01.31.08)
The Arab logic is simple and clear . You started the war thinking that you would scare Hezbollah and the rest of Labanies .And the goals of your war were : 1- To destroy Hezbollah. 2-To get the kidnapped soldiers back. Now tell us what kind of logic you are using to deny your defeat while you could not accomplish any of your goals !!!
12. Hizbullah didnt win Israel lost
zionist forever   (01.31.08)
A primeminister who doesnt know the first thiing about war he rushed intno the war with no clear objectives or plans then he came running out without achiving anything even though George Bush tried to ease off the preasure at the UN so Israel could keep fighting without UN intefearence as long as possible. A defense minister who never served in the milltary, was instead involved in fouding groups like peace now. To Peretz pre emptive strike was about demanding more money from employers. A chief of staff who came from the airforce who sold all his investments on the eve of the war which he felt might be damaged by the war. He came from the airforce and didnt know about fighting ground wars he thought the airforce could win the thing. Continuous neglect of the IDF through budget cuts which meant that things like merkava tanks were not fitted with systems to stop anti tank rockets as a result tanks and their crews were lost. The reserves were being forced to buy their own bullet proof vests because there wasnt enough to go round. Later on Olmert gave a couple of hundred brand new bullet proof vests along with new guns and millions of rounds of amunition to the palestians in the name of peace. Israel lost this war not because the enemy was better but because there was no smart thinking at the top and the IDF itself had been neglected over the years and turned into a glorified police force and not enough training was given to fighting real wars. The inexpierienced men at the top simply assumed the streets of Gaza are going to be the only battle grounds in future .. it hellped justify budget cuts. Training for reserves had been cut right down, live fire exercises were few and far between. There was even talk that tank warfare was a thing of the past and should Israel invest in buying tanks in significent numbers anymore. For an army thats supposed to care about its soilders these attempts to save money cost soilders lives. Hizbullah though used the time aquire and stockpile weapons waiting for the day when the next war with Israel was coming .. on their terms. WINOGRAD PROOVED ISRAEL HAD IDIOTS RUNNING THE SHOW AND HAD NEGELECTED ITS SOILDERS.
13. How come is it peace is never an option?
Johnson ,   USA   (01.31.08)
Because, they fear our values, our way of life, our basic freedoms, and the liberties of our women. Everything we stand for runs contrary to Islam's rotten core.
14. Reading About the Arabs Rejoicing Is A Relief
Eyal ,   Jerusalem   (01.31.08)
Once again, the Arab world demostrates its lack of understanding and insight into Israel. Which is a good thing. It is our technological, societal, and cultural edge over the Arab/Muslim world that prevents them from defeating us. They outnumber us by hundreds of millions. They have tremendous wealth, and great influence in the UN and Europe. Our enemies never clean house. In June 1967, the declared victory. We learn from our mistakes and overcome them. They never do. And that is why in the end we will persevere, despite everything they throw at us.
15. 9
zionist forever   (01.31.08)
The only difference between 2006 & 1967 is that in 1967 the country was run by men who were interested in Israels interests and reasonably compitent at doing their jobs properly. In 2006 the country was being run by incompitent fools who are more interests in arab interests than Israels and dont know the first thing about doing the jobs they have been given. Arab attitudes though will never change .. Israel could nuke every arab but 1 and he would be claiming that the arabs won because Israel didnt sucseed in killling him as well
16. #11 ARABS suffered WORSE defeat than Israel
Zionoid ,   Occupied Canada   (02.01.08)
What you fail to understand is just because Israel didnt "Win" it doesn't mean Lebanon or Hizbollah won! I dont understand how any Lebanese can support Hizbollah after they provoked the regions strongest army to return to Lebanon for nothing. Look around #11 half of Lebanon is a parking lot now. Israel is fine. So again, just because Israel didnt win it doesnt mean YOU didnt lose
17. #16 so where are your kidnapped soldiers?
