if everyone remembers Gaza was 1st because it was use as a staging ground for attacks against Israel, 40+ yrs. have gone by, and they continue to elect to stage attacks. the next option won't be to seize it, rather to eliminate the threat
2. Yes, its a great idea: Like freeing the body of parasites

chaim ,   miami beach usa   (02.03.08)
I wonder if Egypt will continue to supply Gaza after they stop getting paid for them.. The reality of available funds for humanitarian purposes just do not exist as all funds are diverted to military uses. Hammas is under the illusion that with sufficient arms they will conquer Israel and get everything for free so why spend any thing on the population let them wait for victory. The Idea is great but for it to actually happen the Egyptian government must first become as delusional as Olmart and Company. They are not that stupid, sounds great but it has the same chance of a snowball in hell
4. Mubarak will be delighted
zionist forever   (02.03.08)
Now he not only has the problem of the Muslim Brotherhood getting stronger and all the other politcal problems now he is going to be supporting Hamas as well. Well blame Israel now Egypt will get a taste of the Hamas medicine given to Israel and now Israel will be rid of the Gaza trash.
5. Olmeret's spin
Alex ,   LA, USA   (02.03.08)
This is the begining of Big War. First, Olmert said that Hamas election in Jerusalem was good for Israel (2006, January). Then he said that the war with Lebanon was good. Now, Hamas in power is also good. If he wanted it all along he could had removed the wall with Egypt. Now, the big weapons from Egypt will move to Gaza. It seems Olmert saying this is the goal of his hunta.

...stolen (along with other property, valuables) from our family when we were kicked out of Egypt in 1949. We want a "Law of Return" that compensates us for this state-sponsored thievery.

What better news? So called palestinians from the gaza entity finally moving back to / merging with the people from where they came - Egypt. These so called palestinians have been squatting and living from israeli hand outs for free for too long now. GOOD RIDDANCE, and BYE BYE please don't ever come back.

12. Freeing Gaza Will Release Israel from Occupier Obligations
Lev Bronstein ,   Moscow, RU   (02.03.08)
Once the Israeli occupation of Gaza is fully ended, ie. Gaza's borders, airspace and economy are no longer under Israeli control, Israel's role as a belligerent occupier will have ended and the Gazan will finally be free from their 40 year long incarceration. Once free of US/Israeli interference, Gazans will finally be able to choose their own government, rebuild their economy and once again enjoy the basic God given freedoms that have been denied them for so long. I truly believe that they long for peace with Israel, but much depends on whether Israelis also demonstrate their desire for peace by ending their occupation of the Palestinian West Bank as well. There is a great opportunity for both people to end the decades of violence that has caused so much pain and suffering for all, but as with all things truly worthwhile, it will not come without a determined effort to meet the many challenges ahead. Give peace a chance.... It beats what you have today.
13. #12. you have no clue what TRUE peace is.
ari ,   israel   (02.03.08)

14. Ari and the ignorant of Israel
Lev Bronstein ,   Moscow Russia   (02.03.08)
Its not me who calls it an occupation Ari, ask your own high court who declared Israel the belligerent occupier of lands siezed in 1967 in its fence ruling, or the UN, the United States, the international court of Justice and the vast majority of the Worlds citizens whose blinders have been off for years. Perhaps you would like to be denied your liberties for 40+ years so wacked out religious nutters can occupy and steal your property, but to those who still have a shred of humanity left, which obviously oou lack, you will continue to be the villians until you change your evil ways. Too bad for you eh?
15. hamas disangagement
JK ,   LA, USA   (02.03.08)
Israel should not wait to be kicked out. She should disengage immidiately, cut electricity, fuel and any other essentials. No medical/"humanitarian" treatments. No overland supplies from EU, US, UN etc. Also, no import or export of agricultural products. Let them simmer in their own gravy.

Your post certainly shows great ignorance of anything in Gaza. Once part of the Palestine mandate, Egypt took it over in 1948 as a "spoil of war", and shut the Palestinians up in refugee camps, denying them those "basic God-given rights" you mention. Travel out of Gaza was one-way, as long as it was out of Egypt, too. Medical care from Egypt was nonexistent and education was totally ignored. Palestinians were not granted work permits, nor were they allowed to make any improvements on the primitive living conditions in the refugee camps. That changed in 1967, when Israel took over the Gaza Strip as the result of the 6-Day War. For the first time, work permits for jobs in Israel were granted, every morning thousands of Gazans went to work in Israel farms, factories and construction sites. Palestinian universities closed by Egypt and Jordan were reopened and Palestinian students were accepted into Israeli universities. The standard of living rose, until the PLO declared its first Intifada. If that's an "oppressive occupation", blame the Palestinian "government" that is unable to leave its hate and prejudice behind it and move on.
