2.  Are we ready for a change ?

Since a ceasefire can turn into war at any moment, Israel must retain the territory needed for its defense, and maintain a deterrent military power to prevent the enemy from surprising her. Any sign of weakness is a clear call to the Muslims to renew Jihad, as they have been doing in the Gaza Strip, especially after the unilateral evacuation and the destruction of the whole Jewish region there. It should always be remembered that the Arab Islamic side calls for a ceasefire only when confronted by a strong, determined enemy, and keeps the ceasefire to some extant for as long as the enemy remains strong. There is, therefore, only one guarantee against war and the annihilation of Israel: military strength and the constant display of this strength by winning small skirmishes as well as major wars. Anything that even seems like an Israeli military setback is an invitation to another war. The Arabs and Muslims observe ceasefires only under the threat of terrible retribution. Nothing else. Any Israeli or Western leader who thinks that the Arab signature on a document guarantees that it will be kept, is deluding himself, and displaying dangerous ignorance. For that reason a new leader cannot ignore this alternative as described at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/01/stop-them-with-clear-cut-victory-part-i.html

The whole explanation as to why Barak is staying glued to his post is a bunch of crap. Surely the ONLY realistic outlooks on the horizon from this corrupt and derelict bunch are MORE capitulations. While securing Shalit's release is important, it should be done on a rescue mission scale, not on a further releasing of avowed terorrists. This is their plan. While most people would prefer to believe that Olmert & crew learned their lessons and are prepared to protect the nation now, the opposite is true. EVERY indication-for those not willfully blind to see-is that the dictates of Washington will be obeyed. And THAT means that Israel is now on the chopping block, regardless of how they spin it. Hint - ALL building in Israel's heartland, even in Jerusalem ! is frozen.Need I say more?
5. What a joke!
Freejay ,   Israel   (02.03.08)
Attila, you make me laugh at this absurd article. By staying in the coalition, Barak has ensured his political future, after the next elections, are over.......kaput! To say that us people will forget in 6 months is absurd....you think we have forgotten his abysmal performance in pulling out of Lebanon and allowing Hezbollah to take hold? Please Attila, don't insult our intelligence! .We will never forget! This article is just more Olmert spin to try and bide time....but dont you worry Attila, your paymasters Olmert/Barak are on a steep downhill slide......elections are soon!
6. choice
geroge   (02.03.08)
Barak, haaretz and Ynet had choices. To not back Olmert and to get rid of him by calling new elections. Instead you got what you wanted. You've got Olmert for the next two years. Who cares about missiles being smuggled., about iran, hamas . No one cares anymore only Kadima who are keeping their jobs. IDF will not fight under Olmert, its finished except for new leaders. Barak still has to explain why in a moment of unequalled cowardice, he didn't level Ramalllah when 2 IDF soldiers were lynched there. We are sick of Olmert, Barak and Ramon, they can all go to hell. Yaalon will be 1000X better. Barak had his last chance as Yaatom told him. Its over now. He will never again be elected.
7. he had no choice...
D ,   USA   (02.03.08)
Somfalvi, (Attila , Csaba) What garbage! no choice? nothing but a feeble excuse of an article to excuse the nasty, self-serving Kadima-Labor gang of Barak, Olmert, Ramon, etc, The standard answer of the liberal "average citizen" protecting his hard Ramat-Aviv lifestile is: "is there anyone better fit to replace the olmerts?" How about justice?!! how about doing what is right? there might be some people left in Israel who still can tell right from wrong!
8. "it is doubtful whether in about six months anyone ...

will remember his announcement". It is well known that Attila Somfalvi writes a lot of articles for the PMO but does he really believe people are so dumb and forgetful? I wasn't pro Barak before but from now on I will never vote for anything that he is a part of - for me, he's a dead man walking. How do writers like Attila Somfalvi feel at night when before they drift into sleep they recall that they sold their consciences for a fistful of dollars? Mike
9. barak
sas ,   israel   (02.04.08)
did not even read the article. his word is worth a piece of garbage. the only thing that interests him is his car/chair/ and title. he and his entire party should retire. they beleive in what they preach. but when it means a cut in $$ the story always changes.
10. Barak-Olmert
Paul Schnek ,   JacksonHeights USA   (02.04.08)
