31. obama mcain
yossi rachamim ,   boston ma.usa.   (02.05.08)
you guys do not understand american politics.... the more conservative the pole the better for israel (they do consider israel security and strength as tantamount to world fight against terror and tranquility...
32. Methinks Plocker's off his rocker...
chinbro ,   chitown   (02.05.08)
He's dreaming. The author doesn't know and live with the South Side Chicgo attitudes of afro-centric world views. Obama will be the absolute worst American figurehead towards Israel second only to Pat Buchanan or Justin Raimondo, both overt haters. Obama wants to sit down with Hamas and Co. He listens to Robert Malley and Samantha Powers. Read their writings, you'll cringe. Big, liberal mistake.... as usual.
33. Obamas ties to this Church
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (02.06.08)
If a person running for President in the U.S. or PM in Israel were to attend a Kahane Synagogue i'm sure the author of this article would'nt be so forgiving as he is to Obama
34. I do not like or trust Obama, period
Jake   (02.06.08)
And frankly, I do not see how anyone can fall for his "charismatic, articulate" B.S. And I don't like the way he panders, either. This is an election for the president of the United States, not for who is the best radio show shock jock on the air. Geez.
35. Plocker's Assessment of American Politics
Brod ,   USA   (02.06.08)
The title of this article is deceptive. But Plocker's conclusion about Hillary is right on target. She is the best of them all. She will be a great President. With Hillary as President, America's economy will once again be booming. And the rip off gas price of greedy oil companies will be history.
36. can't shake my suspicions
Emily ,   San Jose, California   (02.06.08)
Obama seems like a very likable man, and he's also very articulate and smart. In some ways, I feel drawn to him. BUT... I can't help but shake this suspicious feeling I have about him, that there is too much of an enigma about what his policies would actually be towards Israel. What his true views are seems too inscrutable, so I did not vote for him today. In a sense, I feel it is unfair to paint him in a certain light based on what his pastor's views are. (I'd hate for someone to assume things about my political viewpoints based on my pastor's political views.) However, when a pastor is so far out there as to support Louis Farrakkahn, well, that's a different matter altogether. (If my pastor were to do that, I'd find another church.) As for Mr. Plocker's opinion that support for Israel from Obama would hold great sway with the anti-Israel element in America, that's preposterous.
37. Super Tuesday Election Result
Brod ,   USA   (02.06.08)
Hillary is winning in most of the States. She will be the winner.
38. JEWS ALL OVER THE WORLD LOVE OBAMA
Gideon   (02.06.08)
39. completely disagree. McCain will FIGHT radical islamists.
aaron ,   ra'anana   (02.06.08)
Obama (or Clinton) will offer them hugs and lip service
40. Moysh, USa Jews should not vote democrat, really?
Petra ,   usa   (02.06.08)
please remember that Sharon followed Bush's lead by removing settlers and having a stroke and is still in a coma!( A repub legacy?) There will be a democrat in the white house as most Americans hate this war in Iraq and voted for the dems to get the hell out. McCain and his support of the war will bring him down as it did Sharon and Bush. This repub move was a disaster for Israel and America.
41. Arafat was a savier of Israel now Obama will be
Ron ,   Tel Aviv   (02.06.08)
Rabin said that with Arafat figting terror we can sleep well. Now with Obama we can all go on vacation.
42. "Yes They Can"
Patrick Warner ,   New York, New York   (02.06.08)
Ask any candidate if they willl move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as Congress passed hin "The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995." "Yes They Can." Wil they?
43. Sever, it was a weak try to write about American politics
Ephraim ,   Jerusalem   (02.06.08)
But let's admit it. You are an Israeli journalist. I don't think you get the picture. Obama's closest adviser on foreign policy is Carter's (another adamant Jew hater) National Security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinsky. It says all. If you don't remember the name - refresh your memory. Obama knows nothing about foreign policy, and Brzezinsky is going to call the shots. Obama's spiritual mentor is Wright - a radical Chicago based black preacher with connections with Farrakhan and Jese Jackson and Al Sharpton. Obama announced that the first thing he wants to do on international arena after being elected is to convene a summit of Western countries and Muslim countries to discuss reconciliation. I bet Israel will be the dessert dish on the table there. Not that he owes us anything, but to say that he is safe for us? I think you should stick with Israeli politics.
44. selling out principles
Jerry K ,   Cambridge, USA   (02.06.08)
Obama has sold out then, just to get elected. The right of return is sacrosanct. It is international law. It is a basic human right. You can't expel people from their land and homes. Read Ilan Pappe's new book on the topic. Obama can't use the rhetoric of anti-racism and civil rights, and then turn around and forgive the ethnic cleansing of Palestine just to get elected. If this kind of selling out is part of getting elected, then the whole process is corrupt and bankrupt.
45. Right of Return
Paul ,   FL USA   (02.06.08)
If you accept right of return as an international principle, you have to invoke it in all cases, not just this one: 1) Millions of German civilians were expelled from their homelands in what is today Poland, Russia, for the former Czechoslovakia. Should they have the right of return? 2) Over 400,000 Karelians were expelled from territories occupied by the USSR in 1940 and again in 1944. Do they have the right of return? 3) Millions of Indians and Pakistanis had to lose their homes in the population transfers of 1947-48. Do they have the right of return? 4) Hundreds of thousands of Greek Cypriots were expelled from their homes in what is now Turkish-occupied Cyprus. They would all dearly like to return to those homes. Do they have a right of return? 5) Thousands of Bosnian Muslims who were ethnically cleansed from their homes would also like to return, even if it means living in tents. Serbs have greeted these kinds of "spontaneous returnees" with rifle fire. Do the Muslims of Bosnia have the right of return? 6) There are probably more than a few Native Americans who could argue with some justification that their forefathers were unjustly expelled from lands now occupied by the white man. Do they have the right of return? If this right is so sacrosanct, please tell me how it has been applied in all of the above cases.
46. good for the jews?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (02.08.08)
i am reminded that those presidents who professed to be the "greatest friends of israel", like richard nixon, jimmy carter, ronald reagan, and the georges bush, did more to sell us out than the not-so-great-friends. israel really doesn't need "strong friends" who sell advanced weapons to arab countries, or who provoke israel's neighbours but forbid israel to defend herself from attack. or who block israeli technology exports, to protect their own markets. i think it would be in israel's interests if the next president of the united states just FORGOT about the whole middle east thing, and got on with fixing america's domestic problems.
47. absolute rubbish

48. OBAMA IS BETTER FOR ISRAEL
Val ,   Teaneck,USA   (03.24.10)
Dear Professor ! In the light of the last events do you have at least the slight pangs of remorse for this little article? But do not worry: making a mistake is the enevitable trait of human nature. The main thing is to be sincere and honest.
