1. GrandGrandMother BORN 1911
sol   (02.12.08)
The GreatGreatGrandDaughter is 4 generations apart from her. Assume she is helping, modern - about 20. Average age of mother about 18 at childbirth, makes it to 1917. But as she remembers "same numbers" - it should be 1911. And that´s really her appearance, nachon?

3. maybe missing a "great"
chava ,   yerushalayim   (02.12.08)
One more "great" for the granddaughter would make the year about right.
4. #1: baseless assumptions, could also be 1888 or 1878 ...
Tobias   (02.12.08)
You may be right that 18 may be the average age for the birth of the FIRST child - but it doesn't end there. In each generation, the mother may also have been given birth to more children with 25 and 30 and even 40 years . Also, if in some of the generations, the lineage goes through a man - she could e.g. be the daughter of a son of a son of a son of the old lady - then the distances in years might be even much higher - often the father was older, could be even 50 or 60 years at last childbirth. You assume that the mentioned great-great-granddaughter is the firstborne of the firstborne of the firstborne of the firstborne of the old woman - but you don't have any reason to assume this, or do you know the family so well? You also don't know wether the great-great-granddaughter is only 20, because her age is not mentioned in the article. So, if we would assume that the average generation was 25 years (some children perhaps born when the mother was 20, some were born when the mother was 30 and they had many older siblings) , and that the great-great-granddaughter is 20, it follows that her age is 120.
5. #3 : not necessary
Tobias   (02.12.08)
You don't need to add one more "great" - you only have to drop sol's unrealistic assumption that all children have been born to teenage mothers. Arab mothers also get children with 30 or more years.
6. Perhaps she meant 1988?

Something here is forged.
8. Maybe the ages in the old testament weren't so far off.

I wonder how old most old people in this woman's family are.
9. NEWs - & sort of evidence
sol ,   EU   (02.17.08)
Hi folks, the above story seems to be sort of theatre. Further details according to bbcnews: 1. "Mrs Amash has 10 children, 120 grandchildren, 250 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren, according to relatives." Therefore, the main generation are the great-grandchildren, with an average 25 at childbirth giving her about 100 as age or most likely less. 2. "says one of her grandsons, Majid Amash, 46, an engineer." Again, with 120 both mothers (she and her Majid-mother-daughter) would have summed up to 74 at together-child-age. Rather seldom there at that time - make it 10-20 years less. Further evidence requested. beWakasha, sol
10. 120 year old woman.
Chris ,   Hazen PA USA   (02.20.08)
Ok, I saw the report on TV of the 120 year old woman in Israel. God love her for making it so far if it is correct. But the question I have, is the son that was shown on CNN was in his 50's. That puts her giving birth in her 70's!!!!! Thats another world record potential!!! Or did I just hear the info incorrectly???
11. Son 54
sol ,   EU   (02.20.08)
bbcnews,... - has her son Muhammed born by her at 66 years old. Israel like California a land of the fruits and the nuts? At least good tourist PR - buy Jaffa and have yourself a jaffa life span. so long, sol
