e Middle East. Not only would they get exceptional deals on items already adapted to their own topography, the equipment they'd purchase would work. this is not limited to weapons, I'm talking infrastructure support that would revolutionize the desert states.

Hmmm, war is peace, love is war. Buy arms to increase the chance of peace? I don't think so.
6. Ankara has offered to help reconcile Israel with Syria.
Jean Van Daem ,   Metula   (02.13.08)
Israel cannot be reconciled with the Mafia regime of Assad. Syria will wait till the moment that it sees chances of defeating Israel. Syria cannot efford good relations with Israel. The Assad family has established a hereditary dynasty shored up by repression within, and confrontation and terror abroad. The rule of the Assads is not aimed at improving the lot of their people or forwarding a particular ideology. They changed ideology from secular Arabism to a seemingly impossible confection of pan-Arabism and Islamist extremism because it was expedient to do so. Hafez Assad came to power following a dizzying succession of coups that had made Syria the most unstable regime in the Middle East. The Assads are seated atop a bucking bronco. They are members of the Allawi religious minority who are usually not even considered to be Muslims. They rule a country of disparate minorities with a potential for chaos almost as great as that of Iraq. The radical Muslim Brotherhood is always there, threatening to take over the country by fair means or foul, and the usual Ba'th party rivalries that have plagued all such regimes are also a threat to Assad family rule. Their rule is not about improving living standards for Syria. Syrian living standards have fallen behind the none-too-glamorous ones of Jordan or Egypt. It is not about democracy, a Western luxury Syria can't afford, according to Bashar Assad. The Assad regime is about stability, and it is about money and power for the Assad family. The regime is comparable in every way to the fictional Corleone Mafia family. Prosperity and peace would ruin the Assad regime. Therefore, Western assumptions that Syrian leadership must want peace and prosperity are mistaken, and it is pointless to "engage" Syria in dialogue except insofar as it is possible to confront them with their violations and insist that they mend their ways as explained at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2007/12/truth-about-syria.html

Barak urges turkey to buy.How much commision does the egomaniac earn if the deal goes trough? Is the salesman possition part of his duties as Minister of defence??How much is the corrupt Prime Minister involved??He would only allow arms sales if he has his cut.Everything in this report stinks.
9. The offer has been rejected so why pressure Turkey?
Ibrahim   (02.13.08)
Turkey rejected an offer made by IAI last year in relation to the same Intelligence Satelite platform (Ofeq). Hence, I do not see any logic in pursuing such venture when Turkey seems to be not interested? It hence begs me to ask the question: Is this a method employed by Israel in a bid to end Turkey's own satellite program? Provide the off-the-shelf system to the Turks under Israeli terms OR force the Turks to invest in R&D for a National Platform (which could compete with it's Israeli counterpart globally) by refusing to sell the Ofeq system ! Defence systems is good business!

11. Israel is the real winner if it sells sattalites to Turkey
zionist forever   (02.13.08)
Israel benefits from selling an Offek sattalite to Turkey. Turkey wants a spy sattalite if they dont buy from Israel they will buy from Europe because Israel is not the only country wich makes sattalites. The benefits to Turkey buying an Israeli sattalite outwaigh the benefits of not selling. 1) The obvious and thats money selling a sattlite to Turkey will bring money into the country and will put Israel into the global sattalite market place as more and more countries start wanting sattalites this is a growing market if Israel exports to Turkey other clients will follow providing Israel with more money to invest in its own sattalite programs. 2) Israel will own the codes to the sattalite, missles, sattalites, UAVS all these things the one who has the codes has the real power not the one who owns the thing. If Israel sells Turkey their sattalite Israel controls the codes, if the Europeans sell it then they will control the codes. Israel benefits security wise by selling the sattalite. 3) Diplomatic relations improove. If Turkey wants more Israeli technology they need to stay on the right side of Israel. One of the main reasons the US has so much influence in Israel is because through millitary aid the IDF is mainly made up of American technology today and if Israel gets on the wrong side of the US and they decide to stop selling weapons to Israel then the IDF will find itself in a position that they cant maintain most of their weapons alot of which come free of charge. New sellers must be found, costs go up because there is no free of charge offers anymore and the IDF will no longer be the power it currently is endangering Israels security. The US bought the peace treaty between Israel & Egypt by agreeing to sell Egypt weapons and give millitary aid. Weapons can buy peace as well as start wars. Turkey having good relations with Israel means Turkey can get more sattalites, UAVS & other Israeli technology and weapons. GO DO SEE IF YOU CAN DO SOMETHING RIGHT FOR ONCE BARAK IF YOU CANT BE A GOOD DEFENSE MINISTER OR PRIMEMINISTER THEN TRY AND BE A GOOD SALESMAN. AT LEAST THEN YOU WILL BE DOING SOMETHING TO BENEFIT ISRAEL

Israel is trying to sell Ofek because Israel wants to make money thats the same with anything it sells not to give to charity but to make money for Israel. Turkey is also looking into buying a sattalite from Europe if they decide not to go ahead with Ofek they are not looking into developing or exporting their own systems. Assuming Turkey were considering developing and exporting their own sattalites whats wrong with Israel trying to kill the competition before it becomes a problem....thats business and we dont play by rules of morrality in business we are out to make money for number one. so trying to turn this into some kind of morral issue is rediculous.
13. In response to #11 and #12
Ibrahim   (02.14.08)
Just some clarifications: (1) One of the primary conditions of Turkey's satellite tender, is that some critical parts which encompass the source codes, are to be integrated by the TUBITAK-TAI led consortium of Turkey. This was also the case with the Heron UAV sale. IAI rejected this initially and hence Turkey did not select the OFEQ last month. But it now seems that Israel has also accepted this too. It had also accepted that Turkey can spy on Israeli territory.
14. In response to #11 and #12 cont.
Ibrahim   (02.14.08)
(2) It is no secret that Turkey has initiated a very ambitious space program. In fact, evidence of this is all over the internet. It was only last year that TUBITAK and Zorlu Holding of Turkey, developed Boron fuel cells for use in indignous satellites. The Turkish National Security Council, on Feb 26, 2001 also gave the order for the establishment of a NASA type Turkish Space Agency with an endowment amouting to 5% of Turkeys GDP! Please visit this Turkish Government website for further reliable information: http://gbulten.ssm.gov.tr/arsiv/2001/05/30/01_2.htm Hence, Israel is just trying to be a part of these projects, by selling technology in a bid to get involved and know what Turkey's plans are.
