Having fished on New York City reservoirs both before and after 9/11, the attitude of the government and the citizenry regarding the kinneret seem insane. It is unthinkable to have motored boating, any commercial fishing, unregulated access, and farm and sewer runoff into our only large reservoir. It is time to tell the commercial interests (hotels and entertainment included) that the game is over and it now a protected closed area. The New York 16 billion gallon/day system was seized by rule of eminent domain, and access is limited to "the cutting of ice" and fishing and boating by rowboat only. This is coupled with restricted permits. and the boats have to be steam cleaned and stored at a registered location on the watershed slope. Most sport fishermen (at least in the west) have a healthy respect for environmental issues and are well behaved. Sort of a tall order for the Israeli scene, but one can dream, no?
