1. What a shame.
Moshe ,   Israel   (02.17.08)
Imagine this, mexican immigrants would come to california make tons of children untill theyre 90% of the city. when the US will try to protect theyre citizens in california the entire world would say theyre war criminals and whipe california from the USA with force in the meanwhile cali would become another latin state and a center of drug dealing,at the end it would declare its indipandnce. thats pretty much the same thing thats happening in kosovo
2. Keep the Russians out of Kosovo
Boycot the Olympics ,   Russian Free Kosovo   (02.17.08)
I am totally overjoyed that Kosovo declared independence. It reminds me of our own country''s birth. One thing I can not believe is the threats coming from Russia. As Russian Dictator for Life Putin complained, what is immoral and illegal about a group of freedom loving people wanting to break free from another country who only cares about dominance and slavery? What has Serbia and Russian done to better the conditions in Kosovo? Absolutely nothing! I sure don''t see democracy and care packages coming from those two countries. I thought Russia was now a democracy, but the way Putin tries to intimidate the world with missiles and outrageous gas prices shows us his true colors and priorities. This is as bad as what the communist Chinese are doing with the genocide in Darfur and its threats with Taiwan. Russia and China want to be part of the league of nations, but only on their terms which is blood money for weapons and weapons for oil. BOYCOTT THE COMMUNIST OLYMPICS AND RUSSIAN GAS!
3. Will Israel wait for consultation with Vatican in this case?

I respect your views, but it is very evident that you forget the great story of your Jewish struggle. You know nothing of Kosovo and what the Russians and Serbs did there. My family has just decided that we are not going to the Chinese Olympics as planned. The real Olympic spirit will not be there. Why support a country that violates every human freedom of it's own citizens and every basic Olympic value and principle. Intentionally polluting our environment, poisoning the world's food, selling prisoner body parts for profit, selling military arms to Sudan to kill refugees in Dakur and threatening the peace loving peoples of Taiwan with nuclear missiles is too much for my family to support. I will do everything I can to persuade others from not attending. Just like we successfully did when the Russian Olympics were boycotted in 1980 then all freedom loving people of the world must do the same with the Chinese Olympics of 2008.
5. Another Bush's Blunder
David   (02.17.08)
If we look beyond this totally illegal partition of Serbia, the new independent Kosovo is not good either for Israel or Europe. Now we have another Islamic state in Europe. In the nineties the Kosovar Albanians were the main conduit of heroin from Afghanistan to Europe, thus funding the Taliban. For a long time Al Queida has had its European base in the territory. With the misguided independence for Kosovo we just have to wait and see the results.
6. Shame on you, Moshe
Patrick Girard ,   Paris France   (02.17.08)
It's quite amazing you can protest against the creation of a new state sixty years after an interesting precedent. It seems you don't care a lot of the willing of a people to live in a free state. It's really shocking to read such comments. Don't forget also thant mexican migrahts are part of mankind.
7. One more addition to OIC to blackmail nonIslamic nations!!
KMR ,   Overseas   (02.17.08)
8. Kosovo - a can of worms.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.17.08)
This establishes quite a precedent. Self-determination is a compelling principle & hard to argue against. But many countries have ethnic minorities - will all be allowed to secede? Think about all the artificial countries created out of the ruins of colonialism. Shall they be broken into their ethnic & tribal componants? How about the Russian Federation & China? Turkey? Even Spain. As is usual, of course, the idea of self-determination depends on the self-interests of many parties - in other words, it will be very inconsistently applied. For example, many of those who support independence for Kosovo are the same who tell us of the benefits of a bi-national state.
9. Who is next?
Damir ,   Russia   (02.17.08)
The list may be longer than one thinks. The old game: power over self-determination. In Chechnya won the power, in Kosovo - otherwise. I can see there are still live Serbs standing. What they did prefer: their country as a whole or being accepted as Europeans? What they'd choose to die for? Why there is still electricity and gas in Kosovo? If this is the price for an entry ticket to EU... Our new president definitely is going to be confronted by South Ossetians and Abkhazians shortly. And should Russia refuse them this time? Who is next?
10. The US Is Once Again Backing A Jihadi Horse. Why??
Adina Kutnicki,US   (02.17.08)
To allow ANOTHER Muslim state to be born, this time at the gateway of Europe, and over dead Serbian bodies is beyond insane. The fact that Washington backed this move is of piece with their quest to insert a PA terror state into the heart of the Jewish State. Most people have no clue as to what went down between the Albanians and the Serbians. It was the Albanians who massacred the Serbians, and in due course the Serbians retaliated. I NEVER side with the Russians as their leadership is beyond vile. This time I agree with them, but for different reasons.
11. Be careful
Ypip ,   Canada   (02.17.08)
The image of Kosovo Serbs and their monasteries, usually portrayed as suffering harassment and persecution by the Albanian majority population, formed a part of the nationalist propaganda that Milosevic and his supporters used to manipulate popular emotions.
12. to Moshe #1
Bret ,   Tel-Aviv, Israel   (02.17.08)
You forget that the American imperialism conquered, slaughtered and expelled the Mexicans from their homeland; there were no 'native' Europeans in California. It is about time the native peoples reclaim what they had taken from them. Besides, the Mexican and Latin immigrants are the backbone of California's labour market. The government of California should do more to integrate those who seek asylum or a better life, it is how America was founded. Moshe, seriously I am surprised that you are that naive or racist and did not reflect upon your own plight as a Jew living Israel...what if the Muslim and Christian Palestinians (Israeli citizens that have been pushed into the slums), or how your people lovingly demarcate them as "Arab", eventually outnumber the Jews and democratically take over; relinquishing the land and property that was stolen from them from Jews (white none-the less which makes this even more preposterous) who claim to have a birthright to the land after 1900 years of insignificant (NON WHITE) presence in your 'holy land' (well this scenario is happening). Give the land back to the Palestinians and the Mizrachim who truly are descendants of the Israelites...stop fantasizing about elaborate stories that make no sense.
13. ANOTHER EU FRAGMENT SURROUNDED BY HOSTILE COUNTRIES
stude ham   (02.17.08)
The europeans neveer cease to amaze with their outright stupidity... of which this is but one very tragic example.
14. To #11
David   (02.17.08)
The Albanian attacks on Serbs and Serbian monasteries had started long before Milosevic. In fact Milosevic came to power promising to protect them
15. Protect them from what?
Ypip ,   Canada   (02.18.08)
Not themselves - obviously.
16. I feel so sick
Aaron ,   EU   (02.18.08)
I feel so sick about happened this day. Another muslim state, another Al Qaeda base (it's operating actually), another free passage for drugs in Europe. Blind liberal scums are happy to recognise this quasi state that was born due to demographic trend. Sick. Look at Lod, once noce town now turning into muslim ghetto. Sick. I hope my beloved motherland will refuse to recognise this failed project - Islamic State of Kosovo.
17. Losovo-make sure to do it right
David Hudec ,   Prague, Czech Rep.   (02.18.08)
Kosovo can be a good precedent, if it is properly integrated into the rest of Europe. The EU rightfully put in place a large contingent security force, as their borders will need protection from Serbia for quite a while. To best keep Kosovo from going bad, it needs to quickly be put into the orbit of the EU & NATO. It will also need economic help so it doesn't become as impoverished as Albania. If it should not be integrated, it stands to be impoverished, and potentially unstable.
18. to all people of jewish religion
valon ,   new york, USA   (02.18.08)
i hope you all realize that Albanian kosovars living in kosova are friends with jews we respect jews and we consider them friends in fact during the Nazi era we helped protect at least 2,000 jewish familys from being prosecuted and killed we sheltered them we fed them and if God forbid something of what happened before were to happen again we would protect and help jews because like us you suffered as well, i hope you all consider reading the stories of what has been happening in kosova from the 1980 to 1999 which a lot of people were KILLED, RAPED, BASICALLY A LOT OF ATROCITIES WERE COMMITTED AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF KOSOVA BY THE SERBIAN GOVERNMENT WHO DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIES FOR THE ATROCITIES THE COMMITTED, once again we are a friend of the Jews, Arabs, Americans and all countries who are not ignorant and understand that the kosovars are peaceful people and want to leave in peace
19. #16 feeling sick
London person ,   London   (02.18.08)
You are feeling sick. Good. Your illness is clearly psychosomatic. the "Islamic State of Kosovo"? What's that? Do you mean the Republic of Kosovo with a multi-ethnic population? You are obviously of the type of person who sees a Moslem and has to go and vomit. As such, you deserve your own illness.
20. one note for Ynet
Igor ,   Munich, Germany   (02.20.08)
"Kosovo’s population is comprised of roughly 90% ethnic Alabamians" those people are called Albanians :D please corerct it, otherwise ture Alabamians might be offended....
21. 16 - agree with you!! help Serbia!!!
Igor ,   Munich, Germany   (02.20.08)
I totally agree with no. 16, it´ll be exactly as he mentioned. Kosovo has always been a part of Serbia no matter who lived there. The Serbs should never had allowed Albanians to settle there at first place!!! This is also a precedent for all separatist movements to fight for independence!! just take many regions in Russia Russia, the Basks in Spain, Northern Ireland, Scotland, regions of Georgia, and Moldavia, Quebec in Canada! This could end up very badly.. Kosovo is nothing unique, the poorest region of the former Yugoslavia, stupid people who spread like ---(can´t use the word here)--- all over Europe! and those ----- Americans with their double standards!! Help Serbia!!! remember!! they saved many Jews during the holocaust!!
