Dear editors at YNetNews, In regards to the article "Peer becomes first Israeli to play in Gulf Arab region" published at "http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3508461,00.html " may I respectfully emphasize that the geographical location referred to as the "arabian gulf", has been known to the entire civilized world for over 3 millenniums only as the "Persian Gulf" and any other reference to the contrary is inaccurate and under present international laws illegal. The following are links to the United Nations Geographical maps of the world and the Persian Gulf region. Please take time to view them and notice that the UN refers to this body of water as the Persian Gulf. http://www.un.org/Depts/Cartographic/map/profile/iran.pdf http://www.un.org/Depts/dhl/maplib/docs/escwa.pdf http://www.un.org/Depts/Cartographic/map/profile/qatar.pdf This is the only term used by the U.S. Department of State: http://www.state.gov/p/nea/ci/c2422.htm or http://www.state.gov/p/nea/ci/c2404.htm Furthermore, the president of the United States of America only used the correct name of Persian Gulf for this stretch of waters in his 2008 State of Union Address: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/01/20080128-13.html Most importantly, the United Nations with 22 Arab member states has on two occasions officially declared the name of the waterway to the south of Iran as the Persian Gulf. The first announcement was made through the document UNAD, 311/Qen on March 5, 1971, and the second was UNLA 45.8.2 section C, on August 10, 1984. Persian Gulf is also the recognized name by the British Permanent Committee on Geographical Names (PCGN). I've submitted the above links in order to support this position and clear any confusion as to what to call the Persian Gulf. I also hope this has been only an unfortunate oversight and that it will be corrected immediately. I look forward to your reply and thank you for your attention to this important matter. Please contact me if you need more information with regards to this topic. Sincere Regards Saeed Tasbihsazan
6. No 1: Racist left winger bigot
Meir ,   Beit Shemesh   (02.20.08)
Racist left winger biogt has the audacity to cause causeless hatred, and never loses an opportunity to say that "Racist jews use every opportunity to claim arabs hate jews and want them dead". Where do you get such stupid ideas from? If the Qatars want to be freinds then why not ? You obviously did not hear of the reconciliation meeting between Hebron's Arabs and Jewish settler population, which completely bypassed our stupid politicians, and there was mutual respect between both sides. I'd like to see the stupid racist left-wingers be there. Shahar Peer, enjoy yourself, but eat only kosher, and you will win!!
7. #1 - Rami's cheap shot: Rascist Jews....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (03.30.08)
What a joke....because one arab feifdom admitted a tennis player, I'm sure a wave of tolerance is about to sweep the arab world. We know how we are characterized, perceived, defamed, and on and on...nobody is stupid, Rami.
8. A very nice and welcomed gesture from the Qatari's
