Isn't it obvious that Jack Straw intervened at the best possible time for both Britain and Israel? His problem was that the arrest warrant had been issued by a judge. Jack Straw would have been accused of interfering in the judicial process if he had over-ruled the judge. The British Government and the police were unhappy with this arrest warrant being executed but didn't want to be seen to be interfering with the courts arrest warrant. So wasn't it better all round that Jack Straw (or his minions) tipped off the Israeli embassy, and in turn the embassy warned the general who (by not getting off the plane) saved everybody a load of trouble?

Daniel Makover (son of Moshe, the Trot?) who took out the warrant is the latest in a long line of ignorant ex-Jews whose loyalty is to our enemies rather than his brethren.
