1. The headline was onviouslt taken out of context
A ,   Jerusalem   (02.24.08)
Ynet Editor: Nice try, but I think your headline is misleading and irresponsible. I know you do too, and I know that when you get off of work, you go home and drink by yourself and cry, because you're a sham.
2. Well. yes - actors "play" soldiers - dont they?
Scott   (02.24.08)
Most war films have had actors who have never had military experience. So, why is this film being cast as an exception? Its probably a good idea to at least see it first before going any further.
3. Yair Lapid and "War Room"
Ilan ,   Ariel   (02.24.08)
How is the above different? It is all entertainment and only coincidently related to what actually happens.
4. the movie was a leftist piece of crap! end of story
ari ,   israel   (02.24.08)
5. Draft dodgers
Inquisitive ,   Israel   (02.24.08)
They all seem physically fit to me. Why didn't they serve? If they lied to get out of the army throw them in jail for 3 years.
6. conscientious reasons?
(02.24.08)
what kind of conscince did they have exactly while other were doing their duty?
7. Joseph Cedar's Hypocrisy
NYC Girl   (02.24.08)
So he declined to speak into a microphone in order to honor the Sabbath, but he has no problem with draft dodgers? What the hell is that all about? Who needs his b.s. Sabbath observance when he's not in the least bit disturbed by Israelis who refuse to help defend their country. Sabbath observance does nothing to protect Israel from its enemies.
8. hypocrisy
kislev ,   Israel   (02.24.08)
I salute Cedar's integrety and strength to stand up for Shabbat in public. That was a more profound and instructional statement than winning any Academy Award. Let the draft dodger issue die already. Israel does not need soldiers that don't want to fight. There are plenty of idealistic, proud Israeli's to take up arms. They are supported by thousands of young men and women learning Torah, praying, and doing good deeds. We need all parts to make a strong whole
9. Why not work with real Hezballah
Moahmed Issa ,   Arnoon, Lebanon   (02.25.08)
I have not seen the film but had an idea: Why didn't the producer film the movie in the real Beafort castle in Lebanon? I am sure Heballah with its open minded leaders would allow that as long as the actors did not commit act of terrorism in Lebanon. It could have been real advance for peace that poeple and actors on both sides cooperate to force leaders to talk peace. Israelis... Lebanese are ready for peace with dignity... Accept the fact and let us know when you are ready for peace. Killing leaders and shedding more blood can not go unpuniched by Lebanese... Lebanese are not Abbas where most of his team are your agents. Think peace.. Think
10. Apparantley not since it did not win an oscar
(02.25.08)
11. an advantage? fool does not understand the way in which...
dante ,   uk   (02.26.08)
the way in which his words will be heard. or, perhaps, he does understand and is willing to make his own contribution to the cause of Israel's enemies. like so many Israeli "artists," second-raters, who will do anything, say anything, betray anything, to advance their pitiful careers.
12. Reoly to # 5 why dont you ask the harideem
Simon ,   TA Israel   (02.28.08)
Why dont you ask the harideem the same question? They dont serve in the army and neithere do they pay taxes while living off state benefits? But its ok for me to serve in the last war ? Yet as an Israeli citizen these harideem fight to deny us our democracy!
