1. Moshe Katsav
MGS ,   Jerusalem Israel   (02.27.08)
Could it just possibly be that the lack of evidence sufficient to bring a case against Katsav might indicate that he is innocent of the charges? Why does Mr Misgav assume his guilt without the benefit of a court case and without hearing both sides of the matter? What happened to "innocent until proved guilty"?
2. He must go to jail! Ofer Glazer did.
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.27.08)
Is Katzav above the law? Even if this travesty of a plea bargain is accepted he has admitted that is guilty of indecent sexual acts without the consent of "Aleph 2" and sexual harassment of "Aleph 1". Ofer Glazer, husband of billionaire Shari Arison did prison time of 4 months for sexual harrasment. In the interests of justice and the credibility of the Israel Judicial system, of which there is very little left, he MUST go to jail and suffer the dishonor associated with his crimes. Moshe Katzav, by his own admissions of guilt, is a sex offender and a criminal in the eyes of the law. In some countries he would be listed as such in the public register. No one, not even the President of the State of Israel can be allowed to be above the law!
3. Oh please!!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (02.27.08)
Do me a favour. His PR team ain't that great. No silly picture of him wearing a tracksuit doing some gardening made anyone think anything. The first thing that came to my mind is that his wife is so pissed off with him she hasn't done his washing or ironing in a while, or that all his suits have been given away – because he won’t be needing them anymore. No-one gives a shit about him in his garden wearing a tracksuit with a government-issued vehicle and bodyguards in the backdrop!!! and whoever thought of that stupid pointless pose should have his ass fired!!! His face is synonymous with a liar and a cheater and a man who sexually harassed women because he had the power. Now he's out weeding his garden and wants us to forget? IT GONNA HAPPEN!!!!
4. katzav/winograd
sas ,   israel   (02.27.08)
it's all disgusting!
5. KATSAV ! I believe he was innocent
Atilla karagözoğlu   (02.27.08)
6. Rule of Law
Barry ,   Tel Aviv   (02.27.08)
It seems that there is a bit of a conflict here. Everyone in Israel talks about the rule of law as if it was some sort of new religion. Well, perhaps it is. Could it be that some people - while so happy that the rule of law is the god that the state "preys" to, they forget that sometimes there is a price to pay - that the rule of law must be satisfied in its evidence. I suppose that the truth will never be known, but some people always assume the worst for Rightists and religious, and the best for Leftists and secular.
7. Calling it 'rape' was the death-nell.
Israeli woman ,   Israel   (02.27.08)
Shame on anyone for confusing a 'big dumb lech' abusing his power for 'jollies' with a violent act based soley on hatred. The court did Israeli women a big favor by taking the high road - they could have easly dusted off these mellodramatic sufferers of shoot-self-in-foot disease.
8. Nobody noticed the title of the article? Pun intended?
Izzy   (02.27.08)
Funny.
9. #8 I noticed! I noticed!
Talula ,   Israel   (02.27.08)
Didn't think any comment about it would be printed. It's very funny. Shame it wasn't: Another Blow for Katsav.
10. He was punished
JMK ,   NYC   (02.27.08)
for being a Frank and against abandoning Gaza. Remember Israel is run by an oligarchy of only twelve very very rich askenazi families.
11. Look at that arrogant, smug, evil, self-satisfied face.
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (02.27.08)
How perfectly appropriate it was for this rapist to play the role of President of Israel; bravo to the casting department; you deserve an Oscar.
12. I notice how you conveniently left off Ramon from your list
Zippy   (02.28.08)
left off Haim Ramon from your list---you know--- the guy who can't wait to divide Jerusalem???
13. Zionist Israeli Values: RAPE,THEFT,MASSACRE,EMBEZZLMENT,Luci
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (02.28.08)
14. Israel's Criminal Elite
noded ,   Boston, USA   (02.29.08)
Once again we see another display of arrogant abuse of power by Israel's "elite". As an Israeli citizen, I'm shamed and insulted to see such base, criminal behavior that seems to have become a common occurence in Israeli society. People such as Katzav, the Sharon family and others of thier ilk are no better than common criminals and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Failure to do so by the courts is an outright insult to the country and its citizens.
15. Disgraceful government, disgraceful media
Phil ,   US   (03.01.08)
Israel has not lost its values but it has lost its mind. While there is no defense of Katsav's behavior and a man of his sleaze should never been President, most Israelis are also horrified at the incident.
16. #1 Dont be so ...
ben ,   tel aviv   (03.07.08)
goddam naive!! Read up a tiny bit about this case and then you tell us what you think...
