1. The issue of the Israeli nuclear weapons should be
No double standards   (02.27.08)
put on the table as well. It's about time the US stops it's double standard policy.
2. WOW!!! people found out his middle name is Hussein
Talula ,   Israel   (02.27.08)
HELLO! his first name is Obama. Not Jack, not Tom, not any other all American name - OBAMA! So why is everyone makin' such a fuss here. It's ridiculous!!
3. Sorry, Obama
50 Cent ,   East Coast   (02.27.08)
see, we ain't buyin' it... and we won't BET on it, know wha'm'sayn? no matter how u gon' turn it, your a muslim! a muslim american president? hell no baby! get the f*beep* out right there (where it says "exit")!
4. Obamha and Israel
vicky ,   Ashkelon Israel   (02.27.08)
Talk is cheap, action comes at a price!
5. Jimmy Carter said similar BS ...
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.27.08)
This one is no different. I don't care much for pretty rhetoric, empty slogans, or vague promises of support. The devil is in the details - what exactly will he do for us, what exactly will he do to support us. What exactly is his position on military options for Iran? He carefully side-stepped the issue.
6. Wrong phsychology
Bill Ross ,   Alabama, USA   (02.27.08)
The "carrot and stick" idea is rooted in human psychology and does not apply to religious ideologues. I wish there were someone on the horizon that accepts the quarter of a century words and corresponding actions for what they are. THERE IS NO WAY that Iran will be "enticed" or "isolated" out of their agenda. That is a gross failure already, akin to trying to bargain with Hamas or any of the other Islamic fascists. You might get a concession but ONLY it is actually furthering their agenda, which is non-negotiable. The "tough talk" approach is, in the end, just talk, and Iran knows it. We need to strike NOW. And this should not be like the surgical hit on Iraq's nuclear plant but a crushing death blow to the whole sick regime. And it must get Hezbollah as well. http://billrosspolitics.blogspot.com
7. #1 Israel's leaders never threatened to exterminate anyone
Scott   (02.27.08)
You dont know what a double standard is ...or why having one might be a good idea. Israel's perceived nuclear capability has probably saved the region from greater conflict. Only now, her enemies after 60 years playing catch up - get the weapons too ...and cant wait to ransom and subjugate the world.
8. the radical left in the US is anti-zionist and anti-israel
aaron ,   ra'anana   (02.27.08)
and Barack Obama represents the values of the radical left... I can't see him being any good for Israel...
9. Obama ..Friend to Israel.?
Ray ,   USA   (02.27.08)
If you believe this ,then....you'll believe anything.
10. # 6 Bill Ross why not tell Bush?
petra ,   USA   (02.27.08)
He seems to wnat no part in Iran only Iraq.
11. #6 Bill...you're right. But NOBODY will Do ANYTHING.
Scott   (02.27.08)
Iran may as well have their bomb. They know it. Just look at the way they are behaving. They're getting more bellicose by the day. They are non-negotiable. Laughing in faces.
12. is he that bad?
joseph ,   israel   (02.27.08)
Is Obama any worse than Bush and Rice? These two constantly reengineer the "peace plan" and the "Road map" to make Israel weaker and the Arabs stronger, bringing war and Israel's destruction that much closer. It was Rice who equated the murder of black Americans hiding in a church to Israel's elimination of Jihad rocket crews. It is Bush who demanded that Olmert stop building housing for Jews and who sent CIA advisors to arm and train Fatah death squads.
13. Obama's learning curve
SammyTT ,   NYC   (02.27.08)
As a strong supporter of Israel and an increasingly strong supporter of Obama, I have been pleased with his stand on Israel and am fully able to look beyond the spurious allegations made about his character being a front for being a Muslim. All American Jews and Israelis, Arabs and the like must understand that the support for Israel is strong in both democrats and republicans. There are fringes of both parties who are anti-Israel, but that is not Obama. As far as the serious issues and threats facing Israel and how Obama will handle them, understand that every president must learn many things when they come to office. No president has ever taken office fully understanding domestic and foreign issues. What is most important is Obama's ability to learn quickly and his character in making judgments. These two things are clearly strong in Obama. He will be surrounded by very capable and good people, and I'm sure he will know how to listen (unlike Bush).
14. Obama's political statement
Brod ,   USA   (02.27.08)
would be different should he become President and once the Wahhabhists start squeezing his balls as they do to Bush. And despite 9/11, Bush still maintains relationship with the Wahhabhists.
15. Are you a friend of the government or the Jewish people?
Nethanel ,   Gush Etzion   (02.27.08)
Are you commited to Olmert and peres and the Oslo process, or to the Jewish people & land & tradition? Unfortunately, today the word "Israel" got abused and even even comprises non Jewish people and concepts. Once, the word Jew, Israeli, Benei Brit and Shomer Mitzvot were identical, until secular Ashkenasi Jews started to use them in a different manner.
16. #1, wouldn't that be triple standards?
Jake   (02.27.08)
17. Obama
Invicta ,   Europa   (02.27.08)
The majority of Americans and definitely the majority of the world want Mr Barak Obama to become President. he would be an excellent choice and a definite break from the Clinton / Bush stranglehold which in one form or another has been involved in the top echelons of US politics since the 1970s. (and this in the 'land of the free') Obama offers to speak to 'our enemies'. Good. Because clubbing them over the head sure hasn't worked. There is no evidence of a decline in the fight offered up by the Iraqi insurgents, the Taliban or the Palestinain resistance despite the trillions of dollars spent and the overwhelming superiority in weaponary (if not technique.) It's simply time for another approach. The endless killing of Palestinians (not to mention all the other atrocities committed against them) has not repressed their resistance. So why not talk to them? If the US is big enough to send an orchestra to N. Korea surely extending the hand of humanity to a million people who are living in horrendous conditions is not beyond the West.
18. Whoa! I Thought Hillary Was The Pathological Liar!
David ,   Marietta USA   (02.27.08)
There isn't a shred of evidence to support these statements. Moveon.Org owns Hussein O. hook, line, and sinker, and it is vitriolically anti Israel, anti-Semetic, pro-Arab. Obama refuses, refuses, to repudiate the support he is getting from Farakkan or his anti-white, anti-semetic church preacher. You can almost see Cindy Sheehan, Moveon's raving moon-bat darling becoming his VP!. Sorry, but any Jew who votes for Obama because he is "pro-Israel" really has to have his head examined, once he stops singing Kumbayah. The year is not 1935, it is 2008, and liberals and democrats are no longer even remotely friends of Israel or the Jews. Recent history proves it.
19. Good for Israel = More mideast wars = Damaging for US
aa ,   usa   (02.27.08)
20. #14: the difference
Joseph ,   Israel   (02.27.08)
The difference is that there is no evidence of Obama being under the control of the Wahabists. The Bush family are close personal friends of the Wahabists and have strong economic ties with them. Baker-Botts LLP is the legal representative of Saudi Arabia in the US. A Senior Partner of Baker-Botts is James Baker who is a close friend of Bush the elder and was one of the most anti-Israel secretaries of state under Bush the elder. Baker-Botts also represents Haliburton which has made quite a profit in the Arab world. Connect the dots and you will see who is owned by the wahabists and why Obama is better than Bush.
21. Oh Bologna!
Nick ,   Hollywood Fl. U.S.A.   (02.27.08)
Full of bologna!
22. Obama and his Taqqieh, now we have it in print!
Joe ,   Los Angeles, CA   (02.27.08)
"First it is important to establish the facts. Here are the facts: I am not a Muslim and I never have been." Gotcha, Obama! Obama's father was a Muslim, which, according to Islamic law, makes him a Muslim. Regardless of his conversion to Christianity, Islamic law still views him as a Muslim. The question behind Obama's statement here, however, is that of intent. Is Obama ignorant of this aspect of Islamic law, or is he willfully making this contrary-to-fact statement? I find it difficult to believe that, over the course of his 12 years in politics, that not one of his 'handlers' has pointed this aspect of Islamic Law out to him. Obama, from the standpoint of Islam, IS a Muslim and he knows it. Obama's unwillingness to acknowledge the truth of this fact and his making willful statements to the contrary are LIES.
23. it seems the democrats are getting crazier every 4 years..
(02.27.08)
now they got themselves an american bin-laden to run for the white house. I am voting for mccain.
24. Obama
Eynav ,   nyc   (02.27.08)
Obama is a racist his wife is a racist his church is racist and now he is endorsed by racists like Louise farr@#$% ,Al not so sharpton ,and Jessie himy town Jackson
25. Attention: UNTRUE statements here
Eric ,   Montreal   (02.27.08)
Obama's statements here contradict what he had said a couple of days ago. He had said that friendship to Israel can not be measured by support for the Likud party! This means that if the Likud means in the next election Obama WILL NOT FULLY support Israel as other US presidents did in the past. The Jewish community in the US should see this and not vote for Obama.
26. Yesterday Obama put American Jews on NOTICE
Dr. Dave ,   NYC   (02.27.08)
Yesterday he openly stated his disdain for LIKUD which stands for a strong Israel and will win the next election. And a strong Israel is something a far left wing liberal can NEVER accept.
27. #26
Invicta ,   Europa   (02.27.08)
For 'strong' read Right Wing racist - something that the majority of the world disdains these days.
