1. Mr. Olmert
ben shlomo ,   singapore   (02.28.08)
Set aside all Peace Agreement and blast the Hamas and their Heads now ! Enough of Restrain, and No need to be Patient, No need for MERCY anymore. All Peace Agreements with the PALS REVOKED !!!!!
2. Will this negligent government wake up NOW?
Millie ,   Israel   (02.28.08)
A house in a city of 103,000 has been hit. What action will this irresponsible and deranged government take now? The IDFshould stage a coup.
3. What are we going to do?
Avraham ,   Western Negev   (02.28.08)
NOTHING!
4. The city of Ashkelon.
Jean Van Daem ,   Metula   (02.28.08)
Ashkelon is a beautiful little seaside city of 100.000 inhabitants. Life in Ashkelon was always peaceful and pleasant. Will the Israeli government permit the lot of Ashkelon to become as the one of Sderot or will the government react efficiently against the criminals of the Gaza Strip? The main target of the terrorists are the civilian population. The presence of the press on the battle field and the Geneva Chart are luxuries that a land in war cannot efford. We should fight with all means in order to win as described at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/02/new-war_01.html
5. When will our government realize this is a war???
Diane ,   Hertzlia   (02.28.08)
Enough is enough.
6. TODAY ASHKELON
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (02.28.08)
next week Ashdod and in 6 months Be'er sheva and then Tel Aviv. The band keeps on marching on,while our government keeps on doing little to nothing. These jokers that are supposed to protect us are totally clueless. According to basic charters a nation is obliged to protect its citizens. Not here in Israel were the failed policy of restraint is leading to an escalating sitting duck stiuation for more and more israelis.
7. Well said, Ben.
kev ,   London   (02.28.08)
8. Censorship by Israeli Media
ys ,   Yehudah   (02.28.08)

9. LATEST Updates: Please Read!
jsherri ,   Eretz Yisrael   (02.28.08)
Olmert: *The Sushi is Delicious!* Peres: *Fight the fight via Myspace!* Peretz: *We are winning!* Livni: *We are not panicking!* Sderot - Roni Yechia - father of 4 pulverized to death by Palestenians. Ashkelon - over 40 men, women and children traumatized to the core by missiles raining down on them by Palestenians in Gaza. Knesset says: *What's for dinner? Red or white meat tonite?*
10. We maybe, but only maybe
mother of four ,   Israel   (02.28.08)
will get some proper military action when the rockets are faling on Ramat Aviv Gimmel and the PM's residence. The IDF can do the job. The politicians wont let it fulfil the purpose for which it exists.
11. Wow. What *mazal*
sPin Media ,   Judea   (02.28.08)
No directs strikes on the atomic facilities. This time. Whew.
12. War is dirty business
Dan ,   Titusville, FL USA   (02.28.08)
The purpose of war is to destroy the infrastructure and will of the enemy so as to get them to surrender. One cannot suffer attacks forever and have our leaders respond with platitudes and promises of defenses we will have in 3-5 years. Had the rockets destroyed a school or bus load of school children Israel would know the horrors of war rather than inflicting tose horrors on the Palestinians. It is time to march into Gaza and expell every Arab and every Muslim. IT IS TIME FOR US TO WIN THE WAR!!!!!
13. Attacks on Israeli cities
Phyllis Gil-Ad ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (02.28.08)
No soveriegn country should allow itself to be attacked and not retaliate fully and harshly. They are getting bolder and bolder and we must defend ourselves 100% and attack - not just a slap on the wrist as we've been doing - but attack to wipe out the enemy as any other country in the world would do. Stop worrying about what "the world" will think. Protect our citizens.
14. appropriate response
Barney ,   memphis   (02.28.08)
Israel must show appropriate response. Either multiple(as in 50-60) random small rockets in retalliation or one massive strategically placed bomb of bunker busting size to send the message. If rockets continue to fly then level the place.
15. Arrogance of power !!
Ali ,   Gaza   (02.28.08)
Stop hiding behind your power, this will never give you peace, you will never enjoy peace while your neighbors are angry. all over the history, always the occupation was stronger than the resisance, but in all cases the Resistance won !! .
16. Ali, what 'occupation' and what 'resistance'?
Jake   (02.28.08)
Gaza is not occupied, except for by Hamas which conquered it by force from the PA, long after it was entirely evacuated by Israel. There is no resistance. There is only terror. You see, Ali, the rockets which are fired from Hamas-controlled Gaza territory into Israeli civilian communities in Israeli-controlled Israeli territory is not 'resistance'. It is called T-E-R-R-O-R. Also, when Galid Shalit was kidnapped from Israeli territory and taken into Hamas territory , this is also called T-E-R-R-O-R.
17. All Will Be Sacrified for "Peace"
Jerry ,   NYC, USA   (02.28.08)
This is the Olmert/Livni/Barak/Mofaz platform. All victims are sacrifices for peace with the Palestinian neighbors. Stop your whining.
18. I dont understand these people...
harissa ,   Israel   (02.28.08)
What is suppoused to be the strategy?
19. To Ali
Pastaneta ,   NY   (02.28.08)
stop firing rockets... If not Gaza City will become a new Dresden!
20. Pinkys & Do-gooders: Get ready to lose some more "friends"
Scott   (02.28.08)
Pals will be scorched soon by their own hand.
21. The rockets on Israeli territory cannot be tolerated.
Jean Van Daem ,   Metula   (02.28.08)
The principle of self-defensive pre-emptive strikes are legitimate, as are targeted killings. That applies to heads of states who support terror, as are any and all heads of terror organizations, including religious and/or political leaders. Unfortenately democratic countries have traditionally been unable to agree on a definition of terrorism, a fact that has hindered efforts to fight the phenomenon on an international level. This new kind of war is explained at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/02/new-war_01.html
22. Oh My God
Jamal ,   Gaza   (02.28.08)
You Israeli, do you really beleive in the lies you are talking about, this is my first time to come to ynetnews and read the comments, what this Ammount of Hate you have in your Hearts, that if you have hearts, 9 Palestinian children killed today, it not enough for you, you keep askig for more blood, I just asked God to make you loose your children in the same way you killed ours.
23. Reinforcing buildings and installing warning systems is ..
redmiike ,   TA - LA - London   (02.28.08)
totally wrong. There is no secret to stopping the kassams and grads. Hamas presently correctly believes that firing missiles is worth it. We simple have to show them that the cost of firing missiles is too high. They are not stupid. Olmert comes from a family of cowards and he is now paralyzed because of his Lebanon errors and we need to get rid of him as quickly as possible. Mike
24. At some point Israel MUST draw lines in the sand
Zvi   (02.28.08)
and say, "if our enemies do X, we WILL respond with force AT LEAST Y". Threaten to take out hamas' leadership now.
25. Ashkelon today, where tommorow?
David ,   USA   (02.29.08)
Israel, you are starting to see the fruit of the break in the Egyptian border. They carried in their weapons right under your noses with the help of their Egyptian brothers. This was not hidden from the Egyptian government. Only a fool could deny that Egypt is your enemy and are aiding Hamas! Nothing short of a full scale envasion of Gaza will stop this torture of our brothers in Sderot and Ashkelon.
26. the shifting field of battle
steve ,   london, england   (02.29.08)
The ballistic campaign of terror attacks being launched from Hamas activists and their allies in Gaza is being fairly met by the IDF. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that the IDF can escalate this battle to a level Hamas can never reach. As the state of play stands currently the Israel government may soon have to escalate its military approach to this battle. But there are diplomatic approaches which have yet to be explored. I am referring to the distinct lack of vocality from the leaders and people of other nations. Nobody seems to be speaking out to Hamas to exhort them to abandon their doomed campaign. Is this dumbfoundedness we are seeing in the wider world! Or stupidity? Or is it the utter incompetence of the Israel government to push for such a response from the world? Whatever the truth is a moment of truth is approaching. I know it is not a pleasantly palatable subject but it might well be expedient to call for a UN Security Council Resolution to deploy a force of Peace Keepers on the border between Israel and Gaza. Such a force ought to include a contingent of personnel from the United States of America and the rest from other nations including Muslims. Without a cessation of hostilities on the part of Hamas, I cannot see another answer to this battle that does not involve the IDF in killing a lot of people. A UN presence would polarize everything with regard to the future of the peace process. It seems to me an expedient non-violent way to bring the conflict to a head. To tutor the intellect involved in this conflict and to save both peoples from another pointless useless bloody awful war in which non-combatants would inevitably fall mortal victims. Since wars begin in the minds of men and women it is in the minds of men and women that the defences of peace must be established.
27. The failure of the Oslo agreement.
Jean Van Daem ,   Metula   (02.29.08)
The current path to peace is a failure : It is simply not working, wasn’t working, and will never work. After 15 years, billions of dollars in aid, and unlimited diplomatic support,” the Palestinians have nothing to show or to offer. The solution to the presence of the Arabs west of the Jordan should be find elsewere as explained at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2007/12/oslo-lesson-that-was-never-learnt-part_4002.html
28. So has Israel we surrenderd Ashkelon too? What is next?
(02.29.08)
29. O Israel where did you go
Johan ,   Johannesburg RSA   (02.29.08)
in the past, Israel was an insperation to the world (and now Tel Aviv is next on the hit list), today they are just like the rest of the west, let me remind you Appeasment does NOT work. this is war. Protect you people! Dont be scared of what the UN has to say, Durban 2 will go ahead as usual. The west is behind you all the way to the bank. the West Vrs Islam. and you - Israel are on our front line. Good Luck. and one more thing... the Holocast was over 60 years ago... it seemes to me you (Israel) are scared to do anything that will hurt another nation in a violent way! Please dont think this is the same thing. This is war... wipe Gaza off the map, dont be nice this time, if they use civilians to hide behind just shoot. get this over with once and for all. War is War, and they keep on asking for it- For goodness sake just give it to them
30. Instead extend it to Gaza
I.N.Cognito ,   NYC, NY   (02.29.08)
and yes, I mean carpet bombing or napalm.
