The award being given to Sharansky is certainly well deserved. It should also be noted that in her own way Mrs. Reagan exhibited extraordinary devotion to her beloved husband throughout their marriage and especially during his last unfortunate years---nothing prepares you for the heartache of Alzheimers....

Natan Sharansky is a great Jewish hero. People like him make us proud to be Jewish.
5. Sharansky's Blunder...

While I was tremendously inspired by Sharansky's book, it contained a huge flaw that apparently greatly influenced Bush in the wrong way, and has been the primary source of a huge disaster. His blunder was the equation of democracy with civil liberty. In fact, both Hamas and Iraq are examples of unfettered democracy resulting in wickedness perpetrated by the majority. Bush has, at staggering cost, implemented the will of the Iraqi people as expressed by their vote in the referendum to accept a constitution THAT SET SHARIA AS THE HIGHEST LAW OF THE LAND. This was NOT the case under Sadaam! So, as in the case of the "Palestians," democracy LEGITIMIZES AND ENFORCES that wickedness called "Islam." Democracy is just majority rule. The sweet nectar that Sharansky confuses with democracy (as does Bush) is the Bill of Rights. Aaah! Now that is worth fighting for! FREEDOM FROM RELIGION! Sharansky missed it, Bush missed it and many stil miss it. I know I missed it. I supported this misguided quest to spread democracy... for the reasons Sharansky states in his book - that "democracies don't start trouble" - but they do! Hamas does! Iraq will. It is the Achille's heel of the whole Bush Doctrine - the idea that the majority is always right - no way! Not in the Islamic world! They are hands down ALWAYS WRONG - because their ideology does not respect freedom of/from religion. So, Nate, I respect you.. but you need to re-write your book with a huge apology on page one - democracy is NOT the holy grail. Freedom and the Bill of Rights are. http://billrosspolitics.blogspot.com

Natan is the biggest racist man on earth. His record against Palestinian human rights should have never awarded him this prize. Really a shame????

Can you show us anything you have written in the past where you condemn HAMAS or Fatah for violating the rights of the "Palestinians"?
9. to #8, I condemn violence against ALL
john ,   Bristow   (02.29.08)
here it is from my full mouth. Violence is a useless way of solving problems and Hamas/Fatah is denounced for following violene means. They are better off following peaceful ways of resisting the ugly and unfair israeli occupation. Occupation is the core problem and must end for the sake of a strong Israel.
