Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (02.29.08)
According to all int'l law, when an one gov't attacks a sovereign state, and then loses that war, it cannot reclaim the territory lost in its attempt at conquest. Hamas loves to repeat that it is the elected gov't of Gaza, and it openly brags of shooting missiles into the State of Israel. Let Israel finally tell the world "Look, we really tried - but these people do not want peace, only death and destruction. Enough, we choose life." I agree with you that Israel not occupy a hostile Hamas-inhabited Gaza. What they must do is finally say goodbye to the lethal fairy-tale of co-existence with a nihilistic death-worshipping cult. They must open up the Sinai border of Gaza (which the Hamas thugs have already done with ease) and squeeze out of these squatters from the Strip and cleanse it thoroughly. Let the Hamas Nazis wander in the Sinai, and see if it purifies them as a nation, as it did for us. Let Gaza become Gush Katif, a holy community of life, love, and holiness. Mr. Haber, world opinion only condemns living Jews and weeps for dead ones. They would have Israel tear down the defensive barrier (which they call "the apartheid wall") which has effecctively blocked human bombs - and which by the way was the idea of the Israeli LEFT - and want Israel to open up all the borders of Gaza to allow terrorists to bring death right into the heart of Israel. Israel's security must come first... no matter what Israel does to defend itself, the corrupt UN will only condemn it, so why offer up your children''s lives to satisfy anti-Jewish politicos? The Arabs have been waling for 40 years "Land for Peace", and the more land they get, the more they attack Jews. Fine - let us also say "Land for Peace" - take BACK the land in order to have peace. Enough!!!!!
7. Gaza
Howard ,   Boston, USA   (02.29.08)
The answer is to do unto the others what they would do unto us. The goal of Hamas and its supporters is to eliminate Israel from the face of the earth. The answer to the problem of Gaza, the accursed strip, is to totally eliminate it. Give the population a two month window of opportunity to leave Gaza, and then totally destroy it. The world will balk, the world will complain, but then it does that everytime Jews try to defend themselves, something the world still cannot get used to.

9. The Harsh Truth About Eitan Heber
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (02.29.08)
He was never a combat soldier, much less, a combat expert. He has long been associated with the Labor Party- the party that brought us Oslo and the resulting thousands of dead and wounded. And STILL he hasn't learned from their mistakes. "The Way We Live Now: Israel Proves There Is A Military Solution To Terrorism" (October 17, 2004) …Anyone who visits Jerusalem today will not see the ghost town it was in 2002, when Israel was absorbing an average of one suicide bombing a week. … How did things improve so dramatically, and so quickly, for Palestinians and Israelis alike? Begin by recalling Israel's assassination, in late March, of Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. At the time, the action was all but universally condemned as reckless and counterproductive. "By granting Yassin the martyrdom he craved, the Israelis have provided a motive for new suicide attacks," went an editorial in the normally pro-Israel Daily Telegraph of London. "More young Palestinians will fall in love with death, and more Israeli civilians will die with them." Yet what followed for Israel were nearly six consecutive terror-free months. This wasn't because the Palestinian terror groups lacked for motivation to carry out attacks. It was because they lacked for means. The leaders of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Yasser Arafat's own al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades had to spend their time figuring out how to survive, not on planning fresh attacks. The Israeli army incarcerated terror suspects in record numbers--some 6,000 now sit in Israeli prisons--which in turn helped yield information for future arrests. Most importantly, the security fence has begun to make the Israeli heartland nearly impenetrable to Palestinian infiltrators. (August's double suicide bombing in Beersheba happened precisely because there is still no security fence separating that town from the Palestinian city of Hebron, from where the bombers were dispatched.) Taken together, these measures prove what a legion of diplomats, pundits and reporters have striven to deny: that there is a military solution to the conflict. http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110005768
10. The Arabs of Gaza.
Once we are back in ,   Metula   (02.29.08)
Oft-forgotten is the fact that the refugee problem was not caused by Israel but by the Arab states. The Arab states encouraged the Palestine Arabes to leave their homes temporarily in order to be out of the way of the Arab invasion armies. Today, 60 years later, It would be fair for Egypt to accept the Gazan Arabs and integrat them. Once we are back in Gaza, we should help in this direction. The truth is described at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2007/12/arab-leaders-caused-refugee-problem.html
11. Yes, there is a solution!!!
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (02.29.08)
Let the IAF drop leaflets telling the civilians to get to safety and then level the place. It worked during WWII, and I lived at the receiving end of that. We didn't even bother to read the leaflets. We'd see them drifting down and head for the caves, shelters and bunkers. We'd come out and what used to be railroad yards, factories and houses were piles of rubble. Oh, and at night, all we had to see were "christmas trees" aka flares and it was off to the caves and whatever hole in the ground was available. The results after the sun came up were the same: piles of rubble. It worked in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, too. If you ask for it, don't complain when you get it, and if constant shelling by Qassams isn't asking for it, what the hell is? Who cares who was there first, when, or for how long? What matters is who's there when it's all over. If the Allies had tried to please anybody or everybody, they'd still be fighting. All's fair in love and war and history is written by the victors, and unless you're a total, suicidal idiot, you will figure out when it's time to quit and, if nothing else, save your ragged, hungry a--.
12. A sad old man
Gideon Reader ,   In the USA   (02.29.08)
Eitan Haber. Is he not Rabin's BS, er, I mean speech writer? The leftist apparatchik and apologist for dealing gently with the 'rabs. The guy who placed the words; "let those who are against my efforts spin like propellors". The guy who made it OK in Rabin's words to give rifles and ammo to the alleged Palestinians, so that Israelis coculd be attacked, with the result being death and injury.. Haber? He is the old guy who used to be somebody. An OLD leftist spin doctor. Cant he and Peres just sit quietly and drink their tea; showwing each pictures of their grandchildren.
13. solution to Gaza
Hilda ,   US   (02.29.08)
Whyd does Israel have to reoccupy Gaza.---They will then be forced to turn it over to Abbas and Fatah who will just continue to shoot missiles at Israel. I say unfortunately, Israel must flatten the place into kingdom come so they can keep their 72 virgins busy. If Israel is dealing with fire it mu answer with fire.
14. reoccupy
simon ,   beeri   (02.29.08)
this will not change the hamas , it will only give them what they want , which is to kill us , now they will have the soldiors walking around for them like sitting DUCKS. just waiting to die because israeli gov is too SOFT...............
15. Adapted rules.
Jean Van Daem ,   Metula   (02.29.08)
As the main target of the terrorists are the civilian population our response to this kind of war should also be without compromising. First of all, the medias should be kept away from the battlefield until the army has finished its job. The civilians collaborating with the terrorists, the “human shields”, should be treated as soldiers without uniforms. We should not have humanistic considerations unless they will treat the kidnapped soldiers and their families in a human way as well. But lets proceed with order as explained at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/01/stop-them-with-clear-cut-victory-part-i.html

17. there is a a solution!

an eye for an eye....a tooth for a tooth! Destroy their villages and towns with no notice....kill them in their own homes. It worked in WWII against japan, and it will sure work in 2008!!!
18. Truer words were never spoken
Bill Ross ,   Alabama, USA   (02.29.08)
>>>.....What they must do is finally say goodbye to the lethal fairy-tale of co-existence with a nihilistic death-worshipping cult. ... EXACTLY! A good leaders knows: * where they are going * how to get there The US *CANNOT* lead Israel because they are under the illusion that a 2 state solution will work. Israel needs to set their own agenda - peace through the destruction of their enemies. THIS WILL NOT CHANGE IN 1/2009. http://billrosspolitics.blogspot.com
19. Israel's victory over Hamas
the harshest truth   (02.29.08)
rests in Israel's peace agreement with those Palestinians who want a two-state solution. And that's probably the harshest truth.
20. #17 Are you a Hamas or Israel supporter?
the harshest truth   (02.29.08)
I cannot tell from your comment.
21. GAZA SOLUTION
EUGENE KERN ,   MONTREAL CANADA   (02.29.08)
I DISAGREE. THERE IS ANOTHER SOLUTION. HARSH BUT POSSIBLE EFFECTIVE. THERE IS NO COUNTRY IN THE WORLD THAT IS ABLE TO DEFEND ITSELF WOULD TOLERATE ITS NEIGBOUR SHOOTING MISSLESAT IT. nOT THE USA, NOR THE EU, NOR RUSSIA NOR CHINA. ISRAEL MUST TAKE A STAND WITH WORLD OPINION. ALL THIS WORLD OPINION WOULD NOT ACCEPT THIS AT THEIR DOORSTEP. ISRAEL MUST WARN GAZA AND THE WORLD THAT FOR EVERY MISSLE THAT IS SENT FROM GAZA, A NUMBER OF METERS OF LAND WILL BE MADE NO MAN'S LAND BY ISRAEL. NO OCCUPATION. ALL FROM THE AIR. GIVE THEM NOTICE, SEVEN DAYS TO GET ALL THE RESIDENTS OUT TO SPARE HUMAN LIFE. THIS NO MAN'S LAND WILL BE WATCHED BY DRONES OR SATELITE, ANYTHING MOVES GETS KILLED . IF MORE MISSLES COME, A FURTHER NUMBER OF METERS OF NO MANS LAND IS CREATED. IF THEY DO NOT STOP THEIR QUASSAMS AND MISSLES, YOU WOULD HAVE CREATED ENOUGH OF A NO MAN'S LAND THAT THESE QUASSAMS AND MISSLES CANNOT REACH SDEROT OR ASHKELON. ISRAEL DOES THIS WITH THE PROPER WARNINGS TO HAMAS, TO THE PEOPLE OF GAZA, TO THE WORLD. IF THE WHOLE OF GAZA HAS TO BECOME A NO MANS LAND, THEN SO BE IT. IF THE PEOPLE OF GAZA WANT TO LIVE IN GAZA, THEN THEY THEMSELVES HAVE TO STOP THE MISSLES OR ALTERNATIVELY OVERTHROW THEIR GOVERNMENT. ISRAEL HAS TO TAKE A STAND AND SAY TO THE WORLD "{}AD KAN". ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. WARN THEM AND THEN CREATE NO MANS LAND EVERY TIME THEY SHOOT MISSLES. DESTROY THE HOUSES, IT BECOMES LAND THAT COULD BE MONITORED FROM THE AIR. THAT IS POSSIBLY A VIABLE SOLUTION. LET THE COUNTRY THAT CRITICIZES ISRAEL SHOW THAT THEY WOULD ACCEPT THIS INTOLERABLE SITUATION AND NOT TRY TO STOP IT. AS SOMEONE ONCE SAID "HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN, SHOULD CAST THE FIRST STONE. SHABBAT SHALOM.
22. Howard of Boston: Please come to Israel...
Tzahi ,   Holon, Israel   (02.29.08)
... to fight the war you so eagerly crave. Come, please join us. Put on the IDF uniform, join a combat unit (if you are fit enough), learn to use an assault rifle, and storm Gaza not knowing if you are coming back alive. Until you are ready to put your tusik where your big mouth is, please just keep your war mongering in America. Your bravado is just empty air when pronounced from the safe distance of Boston, Massachusetts.
23. The truth about Gaza
lydia ,   Brisbane, Australia   (03.01.08)
If thejews in Auschwitz had the weapons that Hamas are reported to now possess then they would have would have defeated the Nazis without the help of the Americans. Right? If you accept that then you must also accept that as night follows the day in the end the IOF will be defeated by people who have been ghettoized by the jewish occupation and are even more determined to remove the jewish millstone from around their necks.
24. Tzahi nicely said. i respect you!
David ,   LA   (03.01.08)
it is so easy for people to make decisions or condone Israel in the safety of their country. it reminds me of a US senators proposition of starting an army draft in the US and so many Americans rejected and protested when not one of them did so for the Iraq war. Israel must do what is in her best interest for the security of her state with as little loss of innocent civilians on the other side as possible.
25. american support

26. Tzahi, fight your own war
USA   (03.01.08)
Or don't, and sit there calling Americans warmongers with rockets coming down on your head. Keep coddling your enemies, but don't blame the USA when you leave your children nothing but checkpoints, walls, barbed wire fences, frequent rocket attacks, and a bomb shelter on every corner for a country.
27. I TOTALLY AGREE # 21

29. gaza
bixpix ,   boca usa   (03.01.08)
Invading Gaza is not the way to stop the rockets. That would put IDF soldiers at risk. The simple obvious answer is rockets. That's right...rockets. Israeli rockets fired back at Gaza. Give them 72 hours notice and then shoot back say three Israeli rockets for every rocket fired at Israel. No risk for the IDF and the world press can't put Israel down for responding in kind. My guess if Israel adopted this tit-for-tat policy it wouldn't take very long for the leaders of Hamas to stop the rocket attacks or their own people would turn on them.
30. Reoccupy Gaza or give Gaza to Egypt?
Jakov   (03.01.08)
OK, to reoccupy Gaza would take a massive investment of Israeli manpower not seen, even during the times when there were settlers in Gush Katif. Remember, it took a lot just to defend those towns. Taking over and taking down the territory would take even more people and would be something with no fixed timeframe. Yes, Israel would preserve the ability to act-but at cost. Giving the area back to Egypt is an unwise idea. While it may sound nice to wash one's hand of the place, there are problems. One, if the area goes to Egypt, Israel loses the ability to act if it needed to root out terrorist cells in the area. It would not have the freedom to go in there as needed like it does now. Secondly, there's the introduction into the equation of a more sinister element into Israeli Palestinian conflict: The Muslim Brotherhood. That organization has been in Egypt for decades, and has many followers in that country. They would likely operate with impunity in Gaza. Also, in the event Muslim Brotherhood were to actually become the government in Egypt, Israel would have a real problem at it's doorstep next to Sderot. Don't give Gaza to Egypt, but don't go into the place unless necessary. If it becomes necessary to go in full scale, it's to get rid of enemies and to annex. It becomes all or nothing. Any treaties giving Gaza to PA would and should be abrogated.
