31. truth about Gaza
millie ,   Israel   (03.01.08)
The real truth is that if the IDF redeploys into Gaza (which is what Hamas wants) it will create an excues for Iran to take direct action against Israel under the auspices of protecting the Pales.people! We will have a war in the north from Hezbollah as well! Think before you go into this trap!
32. # 22, Tzahi: way to go! It's about time...
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (03.01.08)
for those so eager to tell Israelis what to do to: - make aliyah; - joining the Tsavah themselves (or sending their 18-year old children to do it) - paying taxes to the Israeli government And then -only then- having the minimum moral requirements to actually advocate a full scale war on Gaza!
33. Some harsh truths about Gaza
joseph ,   Israel   (03.01.08)
It was stupid to ethnically cleanse Gush Katif of Jews. It was stupid to bring Arafat from Tunis after he was defeated. It was stupid to give Arafat weapons. It was stupid to call the Israeli Right the enemy. The Israeli Right was correct in all its predictions, and the Left (including Haber) were 100% wrong
34. What are you blathering about?
Gideon Reader ,   In the USA   (03.01.08)
Shabah#16: What in the hell are you talking about? I dont care if you are a man or a woman, young or old. Live on the Moon or Tierra del Fuego. It makes no difference to the subject at hand.My underlining of Haber's age was to bring out his LONGTIME involvement in things political, and leftist, in Israel, and his influence on those left leaning policy makers, who taking his words(as speech writer) and advice as avdisor, entered into anti-Jewish efforts at keeping and maintaining a secure nation. Bringing Olmert into the mix does not help your arguement at all. That is like having fresh milk and putting a bit of fly droppings in it to purify it. Doesn't help the fly droppings or the milk. Hmmm.Olmert and fly droppings. Not too shabby a comparison. Tired of winning indeed. What gar-BAGE! There are only losers and winners. The choices offered are quite clear. And in Israel's case it's a matter of national survival. There are not twenty two Israels/Jewish nations to go to if Israel's enemies win and Israel loses. Only one Israel.
35. haber
lebanese observer   (03.01.08)
dear me haber , it gives me enormous pleasure to see people like you being proven wrong . people like you gave the palestinians the strength they have . however , god is on israel's side .
36. #6. You are a little more than 60 years too late, because...
Iran-born   (03.01.08)
your views would have found a admiring and receptive ear attached to a little German vegetarian guy with a mustache. Any more "cleansing" ideas, hate mongering and Islamophoiba for today?
37. 36 Nice, since when does an opinion count from Iran
freedom ,   canada   (03.02.08)
anyways. Look at your own country and clean up your mess there first, and try to make the world a better place. Lost ideas with no rationality, analysis Iran first and then come back to us with something sane.
38. No terrorists=no kasams
sam in the USA ,   USA   (03.01.08)
39. Going into Gaza
Lani Rosen ,   Manchester UK   (03.02.08)
Sadly it is the only way, but my hope is that the IDF should do a thorough job. Israel has shown restraint in the face of such aggression for far too long.
40. Arm Chair Quarterback...
Bill Evans ,   Nipomo, CA USA   (03.02.08)
I pray for the success of the IDF and the safety of the people of Israel. My G-D, what country on earth would accept the indiscriminate bombing of it's citizens?! If Israel would have me, I am a pilot with both helicopter and fixed wing license and am very familiar with assault rifles and would be honored to be invited to fight with the IDF. No joke. Blessings to Israel. Bill Evans Nipomo, CA
41. There is much to be done
Observer   (03.02.08)
"Should we disregard the world? That would be a blatantly unwise recommendation." He says. This advice has been a major cause of spillng of Jewish blood caused by leftists like Haber. When Jews were trying to escape from Nazi Germany not a single country was willng to accept them even though the Germans were willing to let them go. You should take quarter after quarter with the airforce and artillery only without endangering soldiers's lives on the ground. Imagine Churchill saying in 1940 "we are now alone and there is nothing to be done". Leftists also deliberately destroyed all Hasbara especially about Jewish rights according to international law to Palestine. As if they work for the other side.
42. I'm afraid
Frederick Kroesen ,   Jurbise, Belgium   (03.02.08)
the author is right. There is one way to avoid the apparent need for re-occupation and that is to convince those people who are shooting rockets with the intent to kill to stop. Good luck Israel. This member of the "international community" stands with you.
43. Action And the Re-Action !!
Rami Abu Ghalyion ,   Cairo-Egypt   (03.02.08)
I agree with the writer when he says that Hamas wants Israel to enter into a ground war, Hamas has no F-16, Hamas has no aircraft Apache, Hamas has no heavy tanks,So Hamas is aware that resolving the battle from the air is extremely difficult to achieve by Israel,In this case, Hamas would continue to fire rockets, on the other hand Israel will continue to bombard Palestinian civilian targets, and When Israel fail in achievement of this goal,Then the Israeli government will take a decision to invasion of Gaza Strip and this is what hamas waitin in Hamas is ready today, they have anti-tanks weapons, and they Have trained men and they Really want to achieve scenario of southern lebanon
44. Interesting remarks, Tzahi
Cameron ,   USA   (03.02.08)
Gut churning & wiping the sweat off your brow at the thought of having to pull on your uniform and rejoin your unit for some heavy duty? You Left-wing types are the biggest pack of shaking, yellow-streak hypocrites the planet has ever seen. The moment when you finally have to choose between playing the man or the weak sister is racing toward you. Time to fight or flee, Tzahi.
45. Haber, shut up,
gzbarth ,   Florida   (03.02.08)
you and your ex-boss brought us thru Oslo Fatah , Hamas and all the other terrorist from Tunis to our doorsteps. The criminals of Oslo should know sit in Sderot and Ashkelon and get what they deserve.
46. Tell Gaza its Jewish food
Hendreck ,   USA   (03.02.08)
Put the Star of David on all food and medicine going into Gaza. Let them swallow that and croak.
47. future of Gaza
Hilda ,   US   (03.03.08)
I respectfully agree with #6 &7 Roscoe and Howard and everyone else who says Gaza must be destroyed with or without the people in it. Give the people the chance to leae and then flatten it and let the Jewish refugees of Gush etc return and have their greenhouses and farms again. Many will not return but I'm sureenough will and then give the Arab residents of Samaria the choice --klive in peace in a Jewish state or leave. We will help you relocate. Hey as I understand it left wing self hating Jewish ism groups are offering Jews in Israel this option.
48. Gaza
Steven Ein ,   USA   (03.03.08)
I agree, there are no good solutions. Therefore, it's time for a bad solution. There are smarter people than me who can figure out bad, but effective, solutions. They leave Israel no choice. SE
49. To # 43
Roberto ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (03.03.08)
Dear Rami, one thing that I don't understand is: The palestians always complained about the occupation right? So, Israel left Gaza. Both, the army and many families. Now, the Palestinias, got lots of fruitful and fertile lands, water and a beautiful sea view. But instead of of using these fields for planting food, they immediately converted it into "training/battle fields", just after Israel left the area. Do you have an explanation for it?
50. proportionate response
william levy ,   baltimore, usa   (03.03.08)
I must be stupid. Are these the rules of war now: Proportionate response? Terrorists can safely use civilians as shields and civilian homes as arm depots, target rockets at our babies Do we we hold a higher regard to safegarding enemy populations than protecting our own? The 4000 body bags back from Iraq are evidence enough that proportional response does not work. WWII would probably still be going on and there would be no more jews in Europe. And CNN would be calling Hitler a victim of Allied aggression. Respectfully
51. military solution
sam ,   new york   (03.03.08)
you say that there is no military solution? What if hamas had all the resourses of Israel and Israel the resourses of hamas? Would hamas find a military solution?
52. To #39 Lani
Alan ,   Montreal, Canada   (03.03.08)
How can Israel do anything with the British press being so blindly pro-Palestinian?
53. Only way to solve the problem
serge ,   Ukraine   (03.03.08)
Jews you must not forget that the world hates you. Hamas, Hisbulla this is only beginning. So if you want to win the battle you must be prepared for the war with your satanic worst enemies in WW III (maybe nuclear war) and defeat them there is not another way to survive. Be united courageous and God help you.
54. #23 lydia, did you stop taking your meds again?
jack bauer   (03.04.08)
go down to your centrelink office and get enough welfare money to by your anti-psychotic pills I cant believe I have to share this land with jew haters like you go back to lebanon
55. #37 enjoying free speech in the west?
jack bauer   (03.04.08)
how much would you like to bet that this turd in 36 doesnt even live in iran because it sucks there as for islamophobia....that term is a crock of **** a phobia is a baseless and unfounded fear of something so not wanting islam near you is smart. The cult of death is spreading yearly through intimidation, rabbit like breeding, violence, etc thus naming islamofacism what it really is, and not wanting any contact with it is wise, and surely not a phobia
56. IS IT A DEAD END , AND WHY ???
Pal ,   KSA   (03.05.08)
The hypocrisy of punishing Hamas for its refusal to adopt a policy of non violence by murdering over 100 Palestinians is truly breathtaking. Israel has reached a dead end. It got what it wanted- half a million settlers on the West Bank. The problem is that it never planned for the future and now has no idea of how to deal with the Palestinians. Israeli deterrence and the threat of Israeli violence is only as good as the absence of weapons on the Palestinian side. One rocket fired as far as Ashkelon is worth more than all of Israel's nuclear weapons in terms of psychological impact. Israel can't use its nukes on the Palestinians. The wall is of no use against rockets. The land seized by Israel in 1948 is all low lying and vulnerable and the idea that Israel can control a puppet Palestinian state serving the interests of Israel's diminishing Jewish majority is deluded. If the future of Israel can only be guaranteed by brutalising the Palestinians, Israel does not have a future. Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982 to crush the PLO and safeguard the settlements. The idea was to deny the Palestinians any hope of a State in the West Bank. The PLO changed but the desire for freedom didn't. Now Hamas is the organisation that Israel must crush. In the meantime the policy of pauperising the Palestinians has been an utter failure. They haven't left en masse and in being desperately poor and without any form of social welfare they've had more kids to sort out retirement security. So now Israel has a problem of demographics on top of the one with the rockets. Israel can't crush the desire for Palestinian independence. It's time to pull the plug on the settlers and give the Palestinians a fair deal. Otherwise watch Israel disappear slowly. The history of the region is littered with states imposed from the outside that didn't integrate with the locals. Israel will just go to trend like the rest of them.
57. Are you waiting for rokets from West Bank as well????
Pal ,   KSA   (03.05.08)
Tell me , after all the words at Annapolis and the on going negotiations with Abbas, what has been delivered to the people of the West Bank? They have not been launching rockets, yet have had 200 of their people murdered by the IDF, can travel less than before, are denied health care or basic rights, have their lands walled off and in general are treated like racial inferiors to their overlords. The catalogue of abuse is seemingly endless, but somehow, Israel is the victim? People still say they can't possibly talk to Hamas, and it's the Palestinians fault the Israeli's have walled in Gaza. If Israel were to demonstrate any serious commitment to peace then that might be a start, but all their problems are addressed by tanks and guns and death, and your country and mine support them no matter who they kill, which is a disgrace. Last years brutal attack on Lebanon was proof positive that the current Israeli government mindset is one of murderous, sadistic intent and they care not an ounce for how many they kill. They're actually worse than their enemy because they have the power to change things but chose not to exercise it, just to kill and grab land.
58. army's mindless actions
noor ,   hyderabad - India   (03.05.08)
Gaza Strip is a bone in Israel's throat. After half a century Israel could not get any great success though she servives with many injuries. what happend if Israel went on rampage in Gaza and killed some hundred Palestenians. IDF has a watchful eye, there is siege on Gazans. Israel has made cruel and harsh steps against palestanians like blockade. Did Israel solve the Qassam Problem? Did she make release Shaliet? howmuch more force she required to overcome this situation. The world class force could not get success against Palestanians but only a suitable political solution could give a sigh of relax to ashkelon and dsedrot. Not army but political solution that has no interference of USA.
